Attn: NEWBIES POST HERE<<<<<<

Hello forum,
Of course, posting here in hindsight, so why am I here, the place looks active. After taking out an old Snow Cat, got the bug for a RC vehicle.

Deciding that a Crawler would be the ticket to pound around the yard. Fast blazing, gravel throwing RCs are all good. However they need large areas to run wild to enjoy. RC vehicles, sure has made some advances. It was tuff to focus on one over the other.

There, I have now complied with the proper forum long standing newbie ritual.

Posted in tongue & cheek.

hi guys,
obligatory intro post: been doing static models forever, discovered the scale side of rc this year and caught the bug... Lord knows I didn't need another hobby, but it sure is a blast!

Hello I am new tried to post something and went straight to moderator . Any who I was real life wheeler but got tired of the breakage and being a mechanic as a day to day job that got annoying rather fast. So a buddy of mine sold me a wraith since I used to love rcs back in the day .

Any who thought I would say hit

New (again) to the hobby. I’ve been buying a few crawlers and getting used to this part of the RC hobby. I’ve dabbled in RC at various times in my life, most recently about 2007. I got in to the Duratrax buggies for a bit. I had a nitro Raze and a Vendetta ST. But I recently got in to the crawlers. I think I’m “hooked” again!

Newbie in Wales, UK

Hi everyone. I have been into RC since I saw a tamiya grasshopper go and fell in love with 'proper' rc cars. Have been into all sorts of cars. on and off road, flying rc planes and helicopters boats etc, had a couple of tanks. It progressed into big stuff, so I ended up as a mechanic/fabricator and spent the last 28 yrs restoring cars and motorbikes, mostly classic BMW, landrovers, and 90's japanese sports bikes.

Anyway, been a service technician for a model shop etc, but never in my life had a crawler! I have done scale modelling all my life, so I have wanted to do a scale crawler for a long time, recently a Honcho came up for not a lot near me with quite a few mods on it so I grabbed it.

Currently trying to work out what is original, and what has been changed, it has all cast metal suspension, axle extenders and a few bits and bobs. The body has quite a lot of scale things on it. I have fitted a winch bumper and winch with control through my rc and a cheap sound kit.

Currently trying to sort the steering out, it had hardly any when I got it. I have removed a front diff guard which was stopping about 50% of the travel, now I think I need to mod or change the steering knuckles as the outer wheel steers much more than the inner when turning. Just need to look and work out what is going on with it.

Looking forward to getting involved, and I think I want to do a proper scale bodyshell, but there doesn't seem to be much choice over here and post from USA is a lot.

Matt

Newbie here just trying to figure out how this works. Got lots of tips here from reading threads about the bomber but finally joined after ordering a Capra kit. Learned a lot but still a lot to learn.

Give us the general info:
Who you are?

Right. I'm Addie, and some people may or may not know me from Instagram. I've been a lurker here on the forums for some time now, finally decided to dig into my piggy bank and pay for a subscription. My local friends and I started our own little RC group called the Fainting Goats RC Club. Get it? Fainting Goats? Because our rigs always tumble off of stuff? No? Ok, cool.

What kind of rig you have?

Have had a fair few trail rigs, but my favorites are my highly customized SCX10II and Marlin Crawler TF2.

Where you live?

Roughly mid-state, New York. Gorgeous year-round but I hate the cold. Prime examples of my hometown crawling spots:

Hello my name is John and I'm a alcoholic... 🤔 sorry wrong place. Any way I'm totaly new to the rc world getting a everest 10 soon for crawling around the property . The previous home owners had a koi pond right out the front door with a big waterfall amd rock ledges, but the wife was woried about one of the kids drowning, so we filled it in. 8 years later my brother in law shows up with a crawler and now I'm in. I live in Deer island Or. along the columbia river amd there is some great rock areas I cant wait to try, and already have a list of upgrades for the truck when i get it.

New newbie here. My name is John, I'm 67 and live near Sturgis, MI. I own a real 1947 Willys CJ2A. I took it down to bare metal, restored and rebuilt it, and tricked it out to look like a late WWII USN Willys MB. I call it the Gullywhumper. About 15 years ago I bought a 1/6 .30 cal M1917A1 Browning water-cooled machine gun and decided to build an rc model around it. I just recently have gotten the Dragon 1/6 Jeep and have started replicating my real Jeep. I've put together the Axial SCX10 and I'm looking for advice on which axles and motor, etc. to pair up to my project. I don't want the most expensive or cheapest equipment, just what's adequate for controlled rock crawling. I've thoroughly searched here and YouTube, but suggestions go in too many different directions, mostly towards showy monster Jeeps and trucks. Not lookin' for glitz or super speed.
Thanks for listening.

Hey all,
Been in RC for years (over 25) and have recently decided i wanted to try crawling out. I am hoping to get some insight and learn a lot. I have built /driven stiff from ARRMA, Tamiya Taxxas XRAY Yokomo etc. I currently have 2 Tamiya rally cars and a Lunchbox on the bench.

I have a TRX-4 in my cart as it seems to be the best decision of the current offerings. Is there anything i should get besides a servo?

thanks in advance!

Hi,
I'm Remco and discovered rc crawling/trailing a few months ago. I live in the Netherlands, which is probably about the worst country for crawling.. it's about as flat as a dime :| So unfortunately no rock crawling till now, but I have found some nice spots in nature that are challenging for my two crawlers.

As a kid in the 80's I had my first experiences with rc's. Doing some off road racing with a Kyosho Optima Mid. Then last summer I stumbled upon some rc videos on youtube and I was quite surprised to see how things have evolved in 30 years. First I thought of buying a basher, but the more I viewed and read into it the more I got fascinated by crawlers and scalers.

My first crawler is the Carisma Coyote rtr. I just love the looks of this little rig and somehow it has this underdog name I suppose. I like that. It has a lot of flex and after a few upgrades it performs really nice in a lot of situations.
I am not very handy nor really technical, so after that I wanted to get more into it and build my own project. I bought the SCX10 ii builders kit and a Power Wagon body. This rig already performs really well out of the box and with the minor adjustments I made.

I have been looking on the forum for advice and problem solving. A lot of questions have already been asked. So I hope to learn a lot more from you guys while the hobby is progressing.

Cheers

Proline TSL vs Proline TSL XL

Hi I am a newbie to the RC world. I wanted something that I could build up as I go with my boy. I live in Alberta Canada and there does not appear to be as many options for rock crawling in my area so it will mostly be me finding good spots on my own. The 2 local Hobby Shops are closing down due to the economy and online shopping.

I purchased a Redcat Racing Everest 10 for rock crawling etc. It is currently stock but I already have multiple plans for the truck.

I would like to install 4-wheel steering on the truck and have found all the information needed to do so from this forum. Also eventually upgrading several of the plastic drive line parts to metal.

I have also decided to purchase at some point Proline TSL tires.

** My question is wether to install the regular TSL or TSL XL. I have searched the forum and found this tire to be quite popular in both sizes but no definitive answer wether to choose the TSL or XL size for my Everest 10. The factory tire measures 5" on the truck. From what I have read the TSL is 5.4" and the TSL XL is 5.8". **

Any suggestion feedback and reasons would be appreciated. I wasn't sure if the XL would give me clearance issues when the truck is twisted. Also from other posts I'm fairly certain that these will fit the factory tires unless I am told otherwise. I hope this hasn't already been answered but their is a tonne of threads lol.

Hello Yall im Shamus and im just getting into rc crawling. and i have no clue what or where to start. i live in canada i dont have a rig so i hope you guys can help me pick one out!

Hello all,

Into all kinds of RC but looking to get into crawling. Thinking of building a trx-4 sport kit but really love the look of the capra. Buddies are running trx-4's and Gen 8 scout axe edition.

Who you are?
What kind of rig you have?
Where you live?

Hello all, my name is Andy and I'm from Minnesota. I have been "crawling" the forums for a couple weeks reading build threads while I piece together my first crawler.

I ordered a TRX-4 Unassembled Kit a few days ago from amainhobbies and am excited to start putting it together.

Ive started working on a diagram of the components already ordered (and others I havent picked yet) and how they will be wired. Any feedback is appreciated.
