Attn: NEWBIES POST HERE<<<<<<

Hi all, been lurking here on and off for ten years. Have had many different hobby-grade R/C's since high school, and got into the crawling side of things around 2009 with an SCX10 kit which I still have and keep in working order (still with it's Novak Rooster Crawler system, but might upgrade it to a HW 1080 and Holmes motor).

Recently finished a TRX-4 Sport after getting the bug to get a new truck, but then also desiring to build it myself like I did with the SCX10. It has a HW 1080, Holmes Trailmaster Sport 550 21T, and a Savox 1210 servo. Radio is a Futaba 3PV - stuck with Futaba for the compatibility with my older 2PL that I'd been using with my other trucks).

I raced Formula 1 several years ago when there was paved track here in town and recently considered getting a 1/8 ebuggy. I then talked to a few guys and went to watch some guys crawl and it got me. I bought a TRX4 Sport that is stock the only change was the connectors. I like crawling a lot, it is a bit of a thinking game. A few other things we have a nice crawl park 4.5 miles from my house compared to 20 and 50 miles for race tracks. I can go crawl anytime and stay for as long or as little as I like. Main thing is I am having fun.

I've been lurking around here for a few weeks now and thought I should finally make a post.

I was probably first interested in scale crawling over 10 years ago, I'm guessing that's around the time that proper true scale crawlers were coming out (scx10 etc). These were things that I would look at on the internet, and then every couple of years I would look at them again. But I could still never afford one. Fast forward to about two months ago I was looking for something cheap and small to wind the cat up with. Somehow I got looking at crawlers again, and ended up buying one of the WPL C34km kits. I put that together, took it apart and painted it. And I loved every minute of it, and this really whet my appetite.

I then spent about a month and a half mulling over whether I could justify one of the builder kits. I then came across the cheap Injora kits on ebay and I couldn't really help myself. So here I am entering the hobby, I've yet to sort a body for the chassis but I have had it running. Maybe I'll do a build thread.

OkieZ...time for my "official" 'newbie' post. I had an RC 35+ years ago...but, once I got involved in performing arts in high school, my RC interest for "pushed aside". Got interested again about 10 years ago, and started with helis (4-channel & 6-channel). After a seriously-bad (and expensive) crash, I sold off my heli collection, and got into drones. I started an most do...with a DJI Phantom. After getting tired of it, and wanting to "move up", I sold the Phantom, and replaced it with a Yuneec Typhoon H, which had since been modified.

About a year ago, my RC interested started being "grounded". What I mean by that is, while I still wanted to "keep my head in the clouds", I also wanted to "come back down to earth"...thus, I started getting into off-road vehicles. Until now, I've been one of those "go-fast" types, running an assortment of 1/10 off-road vehicles (SCT, two (soon to be 3) stadium trucks (tho, one of my older STs will be converted into a 1/8 buggy), buggy), plus a 1/8 4WD buggy, and a USGT car.

However, there comes a time in one's life when they realize they need to "slow down"...thus, it's time for a crawler. Teeth-be-told, I still don't have a crawler...yet...but, it should be delivered tomorrow (thanks to UPS's failure to deliver Friday, or yesterday). I'll be starting off with the just-released Axial Capra 1.9 (tho, I'm toying around work the idea of going with 2.2 wheels/tires). I already plan on getting a second crawler, but will wait to decide what that vehicle will be for at least a few months (probably a scale vehicle, to which I'm leaning towards an undecided Toyota body).

Almost forgot...location is the SF Bay Area, to which I can be almost anywhere in NorCal at any time (professional chauffeur, in case you're wondering). That's my story, and I'm sticking with it...cuz it's the truth. Oh, yea... GO SHARKS!!!

~ More peace, love, laughter, & kindness would make the world a MUCH better place

I am new here and looking forward to getting help with issues as they come up. I have 2 mini RC Crawlers, SCX24 and a LaTrax Teton. As well as a couple of other RC cars and a DJI spark. I live in Northern KY and I am retired. I am trying to construct a small crawler course in my back yard with a bridge or 2 and lots of rocks. After I get the hang of the crawlers I would like to move up to 1/10 scale, thinking a Traxxas TRX4 Defender, what do you guys think of that rig?
Thanks for letting me be part of this.

New to scale crawlers and have been lurking the site. I use to have a bunch of cars/trucks but got out of rc about 20 years ago. Hopefully i can find answers and some ideas. I bought a remo 1093-st for price point and have been having fun with it.

Hi all, got interested in the hobby last summer on a 1:1 wheeling trip. A few guys in my club brought there scale crawlers and let me and my son give them a try. Well it was all down hill from there! Bought a trail honcho and modded it up pretty good into a Jurassic park Tacoma. Recently bought a scx 24 and have a 92 Toyota cab on it with Mikes 3D stinger bumper, a new esc, a rc4wd motor, alloy wheels and SS boggers. Thanks for all the info you guys are very helpful.

Newbie here. Not just to this site but to RC’s period.
Just purchased a TRX4 Sunrise Bronco RTR. So far love it. Going to play awhile before getting into mods. Removed stickers immediately. Looks way better.
Live in Vancouver Washington and older than I feel.
Just figuring out the site.

Hi all, I have been a member here since 2010. Been lurking, have mostly been running bashers and planes. Just got back into the hobby and bought my first crawler. I have a 8 yr old daughter that is just getting into the rc's, which has got me back into the hobby. Looking forward to building a couple trail trucks for us to run together. Bashing gets boring after about an hr. My first rig is a trx4 sport with defender links and tactical body, Havent got to run it yet, but looking forward to running it real soon.

Long time airplane builder and some boats, decided to get into Crawlers for some less stressful building and messing around as airplanes can be adrenaline filled a lot of times. Plus crawlers can fit in my work truck and I can mess around at lunch sometimes and in my backyard...Anyway got my first set of tires for my Axial SCX10 II build.

I'm also over at rcgroups as nhk750

I've been lurking here for a while now. havent posted anything because I cant post pictures.

You need to have your pictures on the internet somewhere else then post the link in your posts here using the little picture icon at the top then paste the link in the pop out box. I dont think this forum supports direct picture downloads and posting.

Hey everyone,

Yon can call me George and I come from Guam.
My rig is an Axial Wraith 1.9 that is currently sitting on my table right now waiting to be fitted with the AR44 Phat axles.
I've been reading through the forums for a while now and finally found time to register as a user.

Hi I am Jacob AKA Happy Gilmore, im from Northeast Mississippi. I have had many crawlers but at the moment I am down to one SCX24 as I have a newborn and it was the easiest to still tinker on and be with the family

Give us the general info:
1. Who you are?
2. What kind of rig you have?
3. Where you live?

1. Dale

2. I have not owned anything RC since 1986'ish. After discovering scale RC on youtube a few years ago I watching the videos more frequently. A couple years ago I went to a local shop looking for a kit only to discover most everything is RTR - I was immediately NOT interested.

Years pass and I learn about TRX kits then the Enduro. The Enduro really caught my attention for some reason and here I am.

So, my rig is in a box in pieces but will eventually be and Enduro chassis with some kind of body on it.

3. Originally from Flint Michigan, where they put lead in the water. Back my my day they were a bit more discerning and just shot people; oh well, times change.

I've been in Illinois for nearly 14 years and live 20 miles west of Chicago.

I'm Dustin. Was out of the hobby for years then a few months back stumbled on the crawler scene. Currently I have a TRX4 Blazer to which I have added a full scratch built interior, light kit, roof rack & light bar, welded front bumper/warn winch, wheels/tires, sound kit and a bunch of scratch built scale accessories. Oh, and I'm in Las Vegas.

Hello everyone. Trying to get in RC crawlers and the hobby again. Recently picked up a Trx4 sport rtr in tan. Loving the look. Only experience so far is bashing it in the yard through leaves and grass. Can't wait to get it on the trails and using it proper. Any Virginia people one the forum? Maybe in or around RVA?
