A deeper look within the Redcat Everest 10 crawler

I found when putting axial straight shafts and lockouts in my rear axle the short side fits but the long side needs some shimming some it don't move around.

So an OG axial SCX10 locker with OG axial CV's will work perfect without shimming, right? I need to make a purchase by today, but i want to be 100% sure before i do.

Ordered me an E10 this weekend. Went ahead and put an order for metal lockers, a 35T motor, 2.2 Duratrax Deep Woods tires/wheel combos, and a 5000 MAH battery. Can’t wait to get it going. I’ve been playing with some toy crawlers (these are awesome for $25 BTW) from Amazon with my son and thought I’d like to try a hobby grade. I’ll be back with my thoughts once I get my hands on it.

I just ordered one too. Which motor did you buy? Is there anything else you need to swap motor, or just drop new old one and put new one in? Same with battery? Thanks!

I just bought a new Everest 10 and have looked thru this thread but it's hard to figure out a few things from all the different opinions since 2014. My questions are what upgrades are considered necessary and what do you recommend as upgrades? Where do you find the aluminum lockers that are direct replacement?

You can find the lockers on Ebay, Amazon, aliexpress, etc. Search for HSP. All of the HSP crawler parts are direct replacement for Everest 10 parts.

Absolute must mods for me are:
Lockers
Batt tray mod
Inboard power links
Semi droop shock setup (stock socks are just fine for this)
Tires

If you swap to 35T motor (which I recommend for good torque and wheel speed), you'll at some point destroy the stock drive shafts.

In my opinion the biggest issue with the e10 is the suspention geomitry the easyest fix is to just move the lower links in To the center of the skid plate and then remove the springs from the shocks it will be a differant rig other than that there is all kinds of stuff you can do its basicly a ax10 clone so anything for the ax10 should transfer over to the e10
The e10 is a great platform to learn on parts are cheap so mod the living hay out of it and if you mess up get a new cheap part and try again

All of the axial scx10 drivetrain parts will I just bout the axial lockers. They are like $15 a pair. The only difference I remember is the redcat driveshafts use a set screw on the pinion and axial has a hole in the pinion and uses a pin

You will soon find out if you like crawling. If you do. Your best bet is to start a slow conversion over to an scx10

Oh yea the stock tires suck. If your just a trail rig they will get you down the road. But if you have any real rocks to climb they are useless. I don’t put much faith in the stock brushed power system. The esc lasted I battery(maybe I just got a bad one). Redcat sent me a new one but it took 3-4 weeks. I had a brushless system I was going to use anyways. One other thing is the redcat trans has no slipper clutch. So if you get a wheel bound up and try to power it lose you will probably strip the trans gears
