Re: 2012 Motorama U.S. Indoor RC Rockcrawling Challenge (Feb 18-19, 2012)
I want to first start off by saying that this was an amazing push for registration.
Motorama is a unique event. Unlike all of the other USRCCA Qualifying events, this one has significant overhead. This overhead includes but is not limited to the building rent, heating, maintenance, Loading and hauling rock in and out, clean-up after the event, etc.
Trying to offer a National level event is hard enough but to do it within the constraints of a financial obligation is next to impossible.
Motorama has been willing to work with me on getting the event through it's growing pains with the vision of becoming "THE" RC Rockcrawling event on the east coast or country.
An event like Motorama not only offers a venue for competitors to get rid of some cabin fever but also exposes our hobby to 10's of thousands of spectators.
It is incredible what all of you have done in this short period of time. You accomplished an incredible task. We reached 35 registrations. It was a real humbling experience for me to see how everyone pulled together for this cause.
But with a saddened heart, I have to announce that Motorama USRCCA RC Rockcrawling Event 2012 is officially canceled. I ask all of you to please keep the positive attitudes that I saw in this thread in the past week. It was great seeing all the chatter and joking around while still getting the job done. Unfortunately, we just couldn't get enough impact to make a difference.
I just got off the phone with Motorama and they will be refunding all the registration fees via Check, due to the fact that they don't have access to your CC info. Out of good faith, they are not going to ask for the entry tickets back, so if you are close and still want to go, it's on their dime. I hope you believe me when I say that they are as upset as I am on not being able to deliver this Unique Event for the RC Rockcrawling Community.
I have asked that we get another chance next year, they agreed to look at it based on the amount of interest we can stimulate. I will keep you guys updated on the status.
Again, I want to thank everyone for their tireless efforts on working to save this event. It was impressive and humbling. Let's keep the thread positive so people interested next year don't get the wrong impression.
Thanks again,
John
