2012 Motorama U.S. Indoor RC Rockcrawling Challenge (CANCELLED)

Re: 2012 Motorama U.S. Indoor RC Rockcrawling Challenge (Feb 18-19, 2012)

I am contemplating coming to the event. Is there a current registered drivers list? Is the event still going to happen?

Re: 2012 Motorama U.S. Indoor RC Rockcrawling Challenge (Feb 18-19, 2012)

Just sign up. The registered list isn't up to date. We easily have 30-35 people. We need 50 or the event doesnt happen. It's a great time!

Re: 2012 Motorama U.S. Indoor RC Rockcrawling Challenge (Feb 18-19, 2012)

I want to first start off by saying that this was an amazing push for registration.

Motorama is a unique event. Unlike all of the other USRCCA Qualifying events, this one has significant overhead. This overhead includes but is not limited to the building rent, heating, maintenance, Loading and hauling rock in and out, clean-up after the event, etc.
Trying to offer a National level event is hard enough but to do it within the constraints of a financial obligation is next to impossible.
Motorama has been willing to work with me on getting the event through it's growing pains with the vision of becoming "THE" RC Rockcrawling event on the east coast or country.
An event like Motorama not only offers a venue for competitors to get rid of some cabin fever but also exposes our hobby to 10's of thousands of spectators.

It is incredible what all of you have done in this short period of time. You accomplished an incredible task. We reached 35 registrations. It was a real humbling experience for me to see how everyone pulled together for this cause.

But with a saddened heart, I have to announce that Motorama USRCCA RC Rockcrawling Event 2012 is officially canceled. I ask all of you to please keep the positive attitudes that I saw in this thread in the past week. It was great seeing all the chatter and joking around while still getting the job done. Unfortunately, we just couldn't get enough impact to make a difference.

I just got off the phone with Motorama and they will be refunding all the registration fees via Check, due to the fact that they don't have access to your CC info. Out of good faith, they are not going to ask for the entry tickets back, so if you are close and still want to go, it's on their dime. I hope you believe me when I say that they are as upset as I am on not being able to deliver this Unique Event for the RC Rockcrawling Community.

I have asked that we get another chance next year, they agreed to look at it based on the amount of interest we can stimulate. I will keep you guys updated on the status.

Again, I want to thank everyone for their tireless efforts on working to save this event. It was impressive and humbling. Let's keep the thread positive so people interested next year don't get the wrong impression.

Thanks again,
John

With all due respect John, the Motorama powers to be are a bunch of money hungry a-holes. I am sad its cancelled, and I know how much the event means to you. I really don't have much else to say, you'd think they would have tried a little harder considering all of the economic woes these days.

Sad to see th is going away. Was really looking forward to having some fun. When a door closes a window opens, as they say. At least we get our $$ back and we can go for free.

John,
Seriously?! After coming to the past couple years, I figured I was a shoe in for Ms. Motorama.....ive been working out and got my bikini body ready for nothing?! So disappointed....could've been my first modeling job......probably would've led to a multi-million dollar career:)

Re: 2012 Motorama U.S. Indoor RC Rockcrawling Challenge (Feb 18-19, 2012)

That really stinks. John I feel for you. You put your heart and soul into the event.
What about moving the location. I know of a great place in Beaver PA. Could it still be a national qualifier. That location is more than qualified. But that's just my thoughts. I would hate to see it be cancelled.

I'm really sorry to hear that its cancelled
