Still gathering Photos, Videos, and Words to describe the 2017 New England Monster Showdown, but came across this photo of Josh and Nick's Sporty Dueces and couldn't wait to get it up. These looked so great together wheelin' around on Practice day and Sporty Day.

The 2017 New England Monster Showdown is in the History Books. What a great event, A chance to hang out with old friends and make new ones. We practiced some crazy lines and built a Pro rig at 1:00 am before the event. There were over 50 vehicles registered in 5 classes. We had drivers flying in from over 2,400 miles away. As always the 2.2 Mod class was the main feature, with $2800 dollars to giveaway to the top 8 drivers. On Saturday after a few hours of rain the skies cleared and 6 awesome courses were built to challenge the drivers and see who would come out on top. 10 gates and 5 bonuses ( -4 each) in 5-6 minutes was the name of the game. The guys fighting for that top prize were laying it all on the line to get those bonuses.

At the end of the day, actually due to 6 hours of rain, the next day we took the top 10 drivers for a sequestered finals course. Everyone walked it for 15 minutes and one by one the top drivers made their run with no previews, no spotter, just them and their rig. In the end Erik Dye, Barry Sobol, and Brian Doughty rounded out the podium, going home with $1000, $600, and $400 respectively. Not to feel left out Troy Winner, Adam Nerby, Bob Ferreira, Tommy Oliver, and Bob Briere went home with $300, $200, $150, $100, and $50 respectively. Hat's off to all the top drivers, excellent driving. Kyle S finished his Dlux axled rig Saturday morning in the rain and went on to make 10th, pretty sweet, especially considering it was his first big comp!

On Sunday after Pro finals we ran 2.2 S, Mini, and Super
We had 19 drivers in the shafty class and it was as competitive as I have ever seen. There were three great courses that broke up the field but in the End Barry Sobol took the Win. Brian Doughty, and Tommy Oliver rounded out the podium.
In the afternoon Erik Dye fired up his Super rig and showed us what that class is really all about. He dominated these courses and showed us that when the going gets tough the tough drive backwards dragging their broken front servo behind them. Bob Ferreira locked down course 2 getting him into second place and Paul D. rounded out the podium in third.
Barry Sobol was nice enough to loan Adam Nerby his Mini for the afternoon and what did Adam do, he went and won with it. Barry pulled down second place and Paul D. rounded out the Podium.

Of course none of this would have even been possible without the support of the Event Sponsors. Castle Creations, our Tittle Sponsor has been awesome supporting us this year as well as in the past.
Our course Sponsors, Holmes Hobbies, RCP Crawlers, RCBros, Ottsix, Lattice Innovations, and Purpmart, thanks so much for your support.
Our Drivers Payout sponsors, Krazed Builds, Y-Town Crawlers, Custom Fiber, Bad Associates, EPARC, and 149 Worx, thanks for contributing to get our drivers payout among the highest in RC Crawling.
To our merchandise giveaway sponsors, Dinogy Lipos, Dlux, Barrys RC Carbon, TCS Crawlers, Dravtech, and Hulkst Engineering. Thanks for contibuting to a giveaway worth more than $1500.

Another big thanks goes out to the Captains, course designers, and all the others that offered to help with anything to make this a great event. Thanks for being flexible with the weather and the schedule.

For everyone who came to the event do me one last favor. Leave one comment below about the event. Something you liked, or didn't like, or something you would do differently next time.

It was a great comp. One of the best i have been to. There was a nice mix of scale and comp style rigs and fun courses for everybody. I wouldnt change anything unless you find a way to control the weather. Already planning to go next year!

I participated (I wouldn't call it competed with my skills haha) in 2.2m and 2.2s. The group was a great bunch and considering the early Saturday wash out everything about the comp will bring me back year after year. The situation couldn't have been handles any better by Brian and the guys competing in the events. As someone that still feels fairly new to this scene due to time constraints I was provided tons of encouragement, advice, and support to improve my rug and skills in the future. Anyone new that is looking to get into this should definitely come to this event next year or any event where these guys regularly ride.

Glad to hear you guys had a great time. Shaun, it was great to meet you. I am glad you had a good time and got some pointers on the rig "thumbsup"

Did you manage to finish any courses at the event?

See you guys next year! Though if you want to get another great comp in before the end of the summer trek down to Pennsylvania with us to go to NENC that John Slick puts on.
