1/6th Chevy Monster Truck

Ok guys..... Looking for some help. Obviously been out of RC for a while and slowly getting back into it. I have a Wraith I've been running around with my oldest but every time I'm in the shop I see this sitting on the shelf. I think it's finally time to get this thing back in the mud. Some promising news locally on a crawling spot has me itching too.

Anyways, I'm going to dig back into the custom axles I was working on and see what I can do about finishing those up.

In the mean time I need to build the drive train back up. I'll need a transmission and need to finish up the drive train in the axles. I'm pretty set on the carriers in the axles and the gears, I am using 1/5th gears in them that should hold up. I'm more interested to see if there is something I should be looking at for axle shafts and knuckles? Any new rigs out with some hefty axle parts I could use?

Also need to figure out the transmission. Originally I was using a 3905 E-maxx trans with the wide range 1st gearing. I LOVED the 1st and 2nd gear ratio in this and it seemed to hold up well to the power. Maybe something out now that's better though?

Looking forward to hearing some opinions.

Awesome. If you like the two speeds you could use a traxxas summit trans. It's still plastic gears but stout nun the less. I was thinking of building 1/5 scale top loaders like the 2 1/2 ton rockwells. I was looking at HPI baja 5b diffs and axles. Possibly using HPI savage xl axle shafts. You'd have to get creative with the gears and housings. Maybe the Kyosho mad force hubs will work they are easy to come by and mount. Or even use the diffs out of the savage xl. People built the crap out of them with big hp and they take it all day.

The summit trans is what I used before and so far, what I plan to use again. It had a great 1st and 2nd gear ratio.

The top loaders I designed use 1/8th scale center diffs as the main diff and 1/8th scale CVDs and knuckles and then use 1/5th Baja gears for the carrier. I think they would work well if I can get the carrier done. I may end up trying to 3D print the carrier to test.
