Mine is basically stock with a 2S 4000mah lipo (Deadbolt). The 27 turn stock motor is too "jumpy" for my style of crawling,so I'm installing a 35 turn motor,for a little more low end torque.

I put an Axial 35t (AE-5 esc) motor in my SCX-10. Even on 3s, it isn't as jumpy as the stock 27t was. I like it alot better. I will run it on 2s most of the time.

I need help, I have an scx 10 truck with venom 3s batt., and 2.2 tires and it is overheating badly, what pinion combo should I use to resolve this??

This is a near perfect setup for trailing with the occasional crawl...plenty of wheelspeed and no need to watch temps as long you're not jamming the trigger constantly!!

with that type of setup, I'd probably go down more than a couple teeth on the pinion...something like 87t spur and 11t-13t pinion to start...otherwise a 20t motor on 3s and 2.2s is going to go down in a blaze of glory before long...but it will be fun in the meantime!!
