What did you do today?

Sorry I've been MIA guys. It's been an eventful year already. Got laid off in late January, busted my butt and hustled to find a new job that I started in late February. Then just a few weeks after starting my new job, I was experiencing excruciating and debilitating pain that I assumed was a hemorrhoid. I've never had hemorrhoids so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was told by lots of people that the pain shouldn't be debilitating. After a week of lying in bed, on my couch, or in the hot bathtub and not really eating or drinking, I was able to get into a doctor. He told me to immediately go to the ER because I had a severe infection. So on March 10th, I went to the ER and it's a day that will have forever changed me.

Less than an hour after they took me back to a room in the ER, I started getting extremely lightheaded and what I thought I said to my girlfriend was, "I'm getting lightheaded." She said that only "I'm getting" came out of my mouth and then my eyes rolled back into my head, I postured, and I was gone. My heart had stopped beating...

From my end, I saw the "white light" that everybody talks about and I remember hearing things and kind of dreaming, but unfortunately or maybe fortunately, I can't remember any of it. My girlfriend, sister, and aunt were all there and witnessed this. I feel terrible about this. Apparently, my girlfriend ran out of the room yelling for help and miraculously my heart restarted itself before the nurses or doctors could intervene. When I woke up, I had an oxygen mask on my face and I was surrounded by tons of nurses and doctors. This made me claustrophobic, a phobia I often battle with. At first, I could see, but could not move or speak and it took my body a second to regain control. As soon as I could move, I tore the mask off of my face and told everybody to get back because they were freaking me out. I asked what had happened and when they told me that my heart stopped, I was floored. I have never had such a sobering slap in the face!

Then I remember the nurse stating loudly, something to the effect like "He's going again". That's about all I remember. That meant my heart was stopping again. In total, my heart stopped and restarted itself a total of 3 times without any intervention. I asked the one nurse how and why my heart restarted itself and she just said it's a miracle. I'm a lucky guy to be here based on my history, but this time feels different. I'm just so thankful to have more time with my amazing girlfriend, her son, and my incredible family. My poor girlfriend and aunts had to watch me "code" in front of their eyes multiple times. And my saint of a mom had to cut her first ever vacation in Florida short to come home for me.

I spent a month in the hospital. I'm still recovering my strength. Being malnourished for 2 weeks+ and bedridden in the hospital made my old bird legs feel like heavy Jello. Climbing the steps in my 3-story townhouse is a literal chore and a struggle. I'm far from being strong enough to ride the Harley right now!

It's been over a month and I still think about what I experienced and how lucky I am. As I've stated on this site before, I lost my late girlfriend in 2021 and while I'm not religious, I firmly believe she is guiding my life right now. She brought the perfect woman for me and my dream girl into my life. She kept me alive during my car accident in 2023 and somehow I still have my right arm and it's 100% functional despite the new hardware, and now this...

My mom's friend and former coworker lost her police officer husband in the line of duty. His quote lives on and it hits home now more than ever.

"If you stopped yourself every time you said, 'I have to' and changed it to 'I get to" it might change your entire experience."

You have no idea how happy I was to get to go into work the Monday after I was discharged!

Enjoy and appreciate life, guys! Give it hell because we don't know when our last second on this Earth will be!

Cleaned up my work bench today. It's been a disaster area while I worked on the 2 buggies with all the random hardware and them coming apart and back together so many times. Heading to a swap meet tomorrow to hopefully unload some extra cars and parts.

Jato, super scary stuff but good to see you come back and check in! I remember you lost your job, and because you were inactive here I figured you landed something and just needed to get in a new groove or something before finding time for RCC. Really good to see you back man.

Meanwhile I just laid the 2nd coat of Rustoleum "Trim and Bumper" paint for the moldings and head/taillights/license plate holder. I used this stuff last time on the first 80 too.

Jato welcome back and I'm glad you are doing better.

My youngest daughter asked if I would help her new friend learn how to ride a motorcycle. We spent about 2 hrs with her on the pit bike my daughters learned on. Needless to say she was excited and did very well. Only 1 crash and 1 trip thru the bushes. Start and stop good and shifting 1st to 2nd and back down good. Turns are good and I showed her a small hill to use to let the bike roll backwards to turn around. Eager to go again. My daughter taught her the basics on driving a manual car.

oh yeah I tore down a crawler gonna move that chassis (gspeed) on to someone else

Well just ordered parts for my daughter's 2025 CBR600RR. She might be 100 lbs.
Going slow on the driveway she lost her balance and laid it over on left side. A few scratches all good.
Today she stopped on a hill and it stalled out on her and laid it on the right side. No warm up just took off lesson learned. Let it warm up.
Some scratches and a broken front brake lever. Needless to say she was mad. I told her it's gonna happen.
I asked how many people went by before 1 guy stopped to help her pick it up. Her response a lot of people drove by.
Parts;
frame sliders, swing arm sliders, stock levers and an aftermarket set of levers and spools for the rear swing arm. A friend has a lowering kit coming for her, if not I'll get that on the way also.
Need a slip on or gut the stock system, it's way too quiet.
Best thing she didn't get hurt either time.

Took apart my onewheel in preparation of patching the tire, and replacing the battery and foot pads. Had an ant colony starting under one of the covers, for reals! Washed all the parts, and came upon this inside the tire. Bought the "biggest" , erm, most patches, patch kit Tractor supply had and I'll give that a try before new "tiring" this.
Going to sand/remove the rest of the "paint" on the side rails, and polish that aluminum till it's chrome.

Well, not today, but anyway. I came across this cool little part of a sectional couch, that just fits right over my onewheel!
It has room for a bunch of upgrades, like sound, etc........ and already comes with double cup holders and a cubby. Prepped it for mounting/placing/plopping on top, now just some shower door handles as foot rests and Im set.

Hit a tree head on, after removing all the air from both front tires and mowing the lawn after going over the "island" .

So much for coffee this morning and the beginning of my day.... I still am having my coffee, though, and shopping for a white one now........ Airbags didn't go off, but it hurt me chest pretty good.

Rims are bad ass, beads did not pop off, and I drove it home all the way on the flat front tires < 1 mile

Well, my day certainly AIN'T getting ANY better!

Thanks Goro!

lol, cold tires and the sprinklers, had just gone sometime before. It happened at 0650 ish, I lost control of my car coming from a light, it jumped the curb nose first, popped both tires, went across about 15 feet of grass, then head on into a tree. Low speed, but still mangled the front.

I guess I should have said: Today I made the mistake of waking up and wanting coffee, then I utilize a toyota gr86 to mow the lawn and attempted to fell a tree with it.

(...whew!)

Glad you made it through that crazy series of events!

Be sure to take care of yourself, my man...;)(y)
Thank you, sir!

I love the 80!!!

That's awesome! Girl power!

Yep it happens. She went ahead and bought a new bike for my first like she did. I dropped my first bike once and learned not to do that again. Hopefully she can do the same. Such a shame nobody helped her. Teach her the "put your butt into the seat and lift with your legs" trick. Just ensure the kickstand is down if you are pushing it over to that side.

Oof! Sorry to see this. Sometimes we get bit playing around. I'm honestly surprised the BRZ/GR86 had enough power to do this to you! Fun looking car. I'd love to drive one.

Not today but Friday. Planned to go get some flat rocks to make a crawler course in the backyard.

Turned into getting the truck stuck, blowing a fender flare off the fender and knocking the Y pipe off one of the header collectors. Doesn't look bad but the front tires are off the ground as I'm high centered on a big ass rock that has also beat up my oil pan.

Naturally I didn't bother to grab a shovel so the wife and I dug with our hands and used trees and a bottle jack, a tiny Allen wrench and a mini-mag flashlight to get out, took 5 hours. By the time we were done we are so tired and sore we could barely stand.

JJ1ABZmh.jpeg

Once I got the truck off the rock it just backed out like nothing happened.

Only an hour and a half to get home from there too! Open headers are oh so amazing at 65MPH down the highway. Even with earplugs my teeth were rattling.

Now I have to get the bent exhaust hooked back up, wash the thing and get the fender flare mounted back up.

Totally ordered a HiLift jack, a kit with all the use a HiLift as a winch accessories and the tire lift thing. With the tire lift thing we would have been free in an hour.

Jato her boyfriend bought the bike for her. Birthday gift. She sold her ninja 300 last year and made money on it.
We looked at the Ninja zx400rr but we felt the price was ridiculous. $8900 but after everything it was going to be $16k. Pass.
I tried to talk her into a KTM RC390 but she said no.
She was a butt hole about dropping the bike. I told her material things can be replaced and I was happy she wasn't hurt.
I forgot about the kickstand trick. Thanks for reminding me.
Spent the last 2 days sitting in a field while they rode that pit bike.
Watching that girl learn puts a smile on my face to see her progressing and gaining confidence.
She hasn't told anyone in her family about learning to ride. She is 24 yrs old and has been on her on for a while.
