What did you do to your TRX-4 today?

Just bought a new spare motor. 15 bucks to be able to keep running isn’t too bad. Haven’t had any trouble as of yet but hope to have a few spare parts available if it happens. My ESC never showed up so I guess I get to open a case on that one, then wait for them to respond or return my money so I can turn around and order one direct from Hobbywing now that they aren’t showing out of stock. Happy Thursday everyone!

Did you change anything underneath to put the 2.2s on?

Nothing they fit perfect, everything is stock at the moment :)

Tips a little easier now when going fast and turning but i have a bunch of weight coming from ebay which should really help out including wheel extenders with longer axle stubs!

These tires actually are not that much bigger then the stock ones but deff looks meaner now!

Zip tied a deep well socket under the front end to experiment with weight placement and the effectiveness of it. Pleasantly surprised at how much it helps but I see where the portal weights would be a lot better. Measured temperatures from the motor and ESC both after a mild run and found temps near 150 degrees on the ESC and 125 on the motor. I know that the weather is still pretty warm around here but the ESC seems excessive to me. Have no idea where the thermal protection cuts out but I don’t know how much I would trust it on a harder run, especially for a longer amount of time. Went ahead and ordered the hw1080 from Hobbywing direct to replace it after the good results everyone seems to have so hopefully it doesn’t take long to get here.

Worked on making some seats this evening. Here's a shot of the first one. Trying to decide what color foam to put on them. Getting stuff together for the comp next weekend :-) getting stoked!

Hey Justin, nice start on the seats! Looks like the patterns are working out ok for you? "thumbsup"

No, it`s a Jeep Comanche body from Aliexpress. My first build, so cutting some corners on mounting. Like cutting in the bed to get the shock mounts up. But im pretty happy with the final result. :)

It looks ace mate. I take it this is a 313mm wheelbase so won't fit a Standard defender wheelbase chassis?

I'm really looking to get a nice pickup hardbody to fit a defender chassis but I think it looks like I'll need to adjust the wheelbase just for body swaps.

I bought a Rubicon body, some beadlocks that I painted to match the body, and some Irok Super Swampers. I have bumpers and a long wheelbase kit on order. Still might add a few decals.

Nothing major, but got my Warn winch installed and rebuilt the shocks with 15wt oil and SAMIX brass spring cups.

I went out crawling yesterday with my brother and he absolutely grenaded the input gear on the portal box on his truck. luckily its only $9 and the other gear is seemingly unscathed.

I found what I though was a sweet little vine bridge that I proceeded to crawl up without slipping a tire, he followed me up and after getting tangled and a quick blip of throttle it sheered off all of the teeth. I'm thinking his slipper was a tad too tight.

Pics of the carnage

WOW, your brother got rowdy

Traxxas is supposed to be offering an optional Machined Input Portal Gears P/N 8065.
That P/N is listed as an optional part in the Kit Assembly Manual but the part number does not work on Traxxas's site yet.

HumboldtEF, is your brothers bronco stock? Did you upgrade the motor?

Stock ESC, Holmes Hobbies trailmaster sport 21T (brushed), some brass and metal parts, Pitbull tires.

I have a feeling it was likely down to a slipper clutch thats been tightened to the point its basically locked and getting tangled up in vines (we had to cut the vines to retrieve the truck)

A buddy came by my shop with his rusty bronco and we fabed up a dash and gauges for it out of styrene.
