What did you do to your TRX-4 today?

Few goodies came in today.

Over and Underdrive setup for the TRX-4 and a set of SSD Brass portal covers.

The overdrive and underdrive ring gears are not quite as meaty as the stock ring gears, but we shall see.

The SSD Brass portal covers are just beautiful! And heavy! Wow.

Picked up a 9t pinion for my rig. Installed it last night. B slot in stock motor mount makes the mesh too tight. C slot is too loose. I dremeled the space between the two holes for more adjustment. Haven't got to run it yet. I'll let you know what I think once I get it right.

Cleaned out my stock shocks and changed down to some 20w oil in them. I like the difference so far as it doesn’t bounce around quite as bad over the little stuff and it seems to hold traction a little better in the loose uneven stuff. Time will tell

When I changed to a 9t on mine I feel like the gear mesh sounds much better now as opposed to stock. I don't remember the letter for which position but I did just use the manuals recommended one. Your approach should work, let us know.

Not today, in the last 2 weeks though. New sport, looks well worn already though😀. Rock beast xor's on China beadlocks. Perfect fit👍. Brass portal weights. Underdrive in rear. Savox monster black edition😎. 15 tooth pinion. Lengthened wheelbase a bit. Love this thing. Honestly it crawls much better than my highly modded honcho. I'd planned on replacing the esc & motor but it's working great after gearing it down just a bit👍

Nothing major, but got my Warn winch installed and rebuilt the shocks with 15wt oil and SAMIX brass spring cups.

I just got the same bumper. Not sure if I'll be using it with my defender body as I don't know how the exposed corners of the body will fare. Have you had any concerns about those corners?

I like the approach the shorter bumper gives me. I can turn the tires and let them grab without having a bumper in the way.

I'm sure if I took a good enough hit on the corner, it would crack the body as it is exposed, but I haven't had any issues yet.

Front SSD bumper was satin black, rear Traxxas bumper was chrome, and RC4WD side rails were gloss black. Bugged me that they were different finishes so decided to throw down some paint. Not sure why company's still to this day deceptively advertise certain aerosols as "chrome" even going so far as to use caps that actually DO look like chrome... but it's always the same... silver. Test sprayed first so no biggie. I like the look better now with everything the same finish and at least it's a nice bright silver.

I also moved the front SSD bumper forward a little bit by removing the 4 bumper-mount screws, sliding it forward, and replacing only 2 screws. You can see what I mean in the last pic. It still has a very low-profile appearance and still retains a great approach angle. Fortunately using two screws instead of four, the bumper-mount still remains tight... no movement no matter how much I pushed and pulled on it. I did this mod because I was having some trouble getting the body on/ off quickly since there's almost no room between the body and bumper. Awesome bumper for the money btw... really strong, light, and well made. FWIW using just the front two mounting holes in the chassis moves the bumper-mount fwd about 6.75mm.

Brought one!
Picked up a Sport version mainly because I am used to that setup having a couple of SCX10’s and similar in the fleet

I don't know what you have going on with your setup but the 9t pinion should mount in the A holes. All four of my TRX4s are running 9t pinions and all are mounted in the Aholes. The manual also specifies using the Aholes with the 9t.

I know I'll sound like a teenage boy and I'm 48 but I'm LMAO, but make sure you mount it in the AHOLE :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Was tired of the black grill and headlight buckets so masked off the chrome and threw down some bright silver. Much better! Also went ahead and laid down some flat black behind the grill ( on the lexan) to kill the gloss and add some depth.

Also used some reflective "faux adhesive backed gemstones" in clear and orange to add a more scale look inside the headlights/ turn-signals. Looks like bulbs in there now. Found em in the Walmart Craft Dept for a couple bucks.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: That's exactly why I say slot instead of hole. A hole b hole shit just makes me laugh. I'm 34 but I try to stay young as possible.

Inspector86: I don't get it either bro, but I'm happy with the mesh and sound of the mesh. As long as it's working correctly I'm stoked. "thumbsup"
