What are you working on??

My $0.02.

I have wondered since the first time I really checked out a crawler, why they build +8 degrees of caster into crawler front axles.
Positive caster is for straight-line tracking at road speeds.
More positive caster decreases steering ability and increases required steering effort.
Ever watch a dragster's front tires as they turn and lay more on their sides than actually turning?
That's about +30 degrees. Perfect for high speed straight-line tracking. Crappy for turning.

Negatve caster(putting your upper ball joint ahead of your lower ball joint) increases turning ability while decreasing both straight-line tracking and required steering effort.
Forklifts have zero to -5 degrees caster to boost steering ability(in forward gear) in conjunction with rear wheel steering and a short wheelbase, because of their low speeds.

I have often thought of swapping knuckles side to side to give -8 degrees caster to my rigs.
I just haven't given a $#!t enough to ACTUALLY do it...

Not exactly RC but I'm polishing the trigger group on a Smith & Wesson 10mm

Good rainy day fun!

Decided to go with the SSD d60's, also have their titanium steering link set and metal diff covers coming. along with some clockable hubs and Voodoo KLR blue compound tires. The Axial bfgs work great on clean rocks...and when not packing with dirt. I gave them a shot, but they just clog up and wont clean out. Now the long wait.

Chevy body arrived today! Now to decide on colors.

Starting to hack it up. Cut the front bumper off, opened up the wheel wells and cut a 1/4" off the bottom all the way around to get it to sit lower.

Got my new SDD d90s....and my dumb ass didn't order the metal bearing caps....still waiting on parts....should get me where I wanna be. did a mock up and the pinion angle is gonna be sweet!

The 80's chevys had this dark blue with a silver blue 2 tone deal. Think it would look sharp on a newer truck.

That is a good color combo, might have to do that to the hardbody,if I ever get to it! I've already got paints coming for this that should be really different, I haven't seen it on any rig yet.

Got the body painted, terrible overall paint job, didn't have the good $24 a roll pinstripe tape, the auto parts was out at the time, so purchased $6.50 a roll tape, it pulled up in the sharpe body lines, on the first coat, and screwed up the GT stripe..I swore off of using anything but 3M tape on my last paint work, it bit me gain..but overall it came a kinds-sorta like the 1:1 goal..gonna have the good stuff before next paint/body work..anyhow..I have a ton of things I need to do, getting closer to a finished rig.. ;)

In the process of planning out my snowplow I got sidetracked....

I glued a Wraith steering wheel to a mini servo and glued that to a Wraith dashboard.

I glued Wraith seats to the chassis.

I glued the dashboard into place.

Then I glued stock plastic SCX-10 control arms just below the window openings to reinforce the body in preparation for cutting out the door windows.

Then I put a driver and navigator in the seats. They are too short to sit in the seats and be seen through the windows, so they are standing. Lol

Now I have a partial interior with a turning steering wheel and a crew. Lol

Making some good progress on the ascender I had at Bradbury the other week. Just about ready for paint. Really happy with the bumpers and sliders I made.
