Virginia RC Off Roaders - VARCOR

hi guys!im a fellow va rc'er that normally races nitro down at rcproracing, well after watching countless hours of rc rockcrawling on youtube, i took the plunge and picked up a ax-10 kit and a few minor upgrades! ive already started the build and ive got all i need but my esc and motor! leavin for a cruise this week so the truck will have to wait till i get home! ill be up and runnin in about 2 weeks or so.im interested in meeting some other rc enthusiast sometime to have some crawling fun!im 15-20 min from pony pasture and 5-10 min away from bells isle! hope to meet up with you guys sometime! im really diggin the 2.2 scalers and will prolly build one of them too to do some trail ridin"thumbsup"

hey crawldad91, nice to see someone new in the group. im building a 1.9 scaler that doubles as a 2.2 scaler. the comps at hbby town are nice and if you break something you can buy a new part. i havent gone to pony pasture to crawl yet but ive gone fishing there a lot.

Welcome crawldad91. It's always good to see new people joining the rc crawling world. If you've been looking around this forum, you'll see all of the different places in VA we've crawled so far, and that we try and have GTG's whenever possible. There are getting to be quite a few of us in and around the Richmond area now. Just keep an eye out and come join us at one of the next events.

yea, welcome crawldad91! you'll like the axial. just replace the driveshafts with something worth their weight melted down (or get the axial driveshaft rings, either works) and it'll work real nicely. oh, and get some shocks other than the axial units. I've had pasta strainers that leak less than the stock shocks.

so what do i need to make this thing solid enough not to break my first time out with it? i hear about the driveshaft problems, what is the fix and which driveshafts should i order and what are a good pair of shocks that will fit it

hey guys i found a set of shocks but out of stock like everything ive tried to find for this truck! lol

anyhow a quick fix for the shocks will definitly need the hpi front springs for now! whats the part number on those hpi springs? im havin trouble locating them

have you looked the the ckrc stage 2 build? look at step 1, this is a great mod for the stock axial shocks. personally, i'm basically running a set of stock emaxx shocks with losi springs. like charger said, ask 5 people, get 5 different recommendations.

well chargerguy i took your advice and picked up a set of hpi yellows for the front and it is making a big diffrence in the front everything is smooth and non binding now!

Just put the retainers on my driveshafts..pretty indestructable imo. If you use them on the Traxxas shafts, you gotta sand the little ridge away so they slide on, it's an easy enough task "thumbsup"

so i picked up a set of rock claws thursday when a bunch of rc guys played hooky from work and battled at rcpro on thier new layout! had a blast, anyway im gonna try 6oz of lead in each front. man it sure feels heavy up front with the battery and servo! the question i have is should i run any weiht in the backs! im runnin short on weights and hobbytown has none< as usual>! all buts left is paint the body and get my runnin gear! already have a spare spektrum reciever to slap in itand bind it to my radio im ill be ready to rollim seriously considering a diffrent body for it as imnot real crazy about the bomber body if anything ill cut most of that body away for extreme stuff! im thinkin about the proline body that is the old model international truck !"thumbsup"

also how can i put pics on here? ive taken picks throughout the entire build! what little it was to build! it was rather easy i thought!lol, i guess im used to puttin together 8th scale nitro's
