U4RC Current Class Specs/Rules

We are changing the measurements and will hopefully have them up soon. We are trying to get them up as soon as possible so that it will give people time to build or change things for the coming year. We are not making any major changes but there will be some. There will new height, width and chassi lengths.

Thanks for the info. I know of several waiting very impatiently for then new chassis dimensions"thumbsup"

Re: U4RC Current Class Specs/Rules ***UPDATED 4/1/14***

1.9 wraith would fit under 1.9 comp correct?

Yes, a 1.9 clad Wraith could run 1.9 Comp, but it would have to meet the WB and TW specs to run in 1.9 Comp."thumbsup"

There are several solid axle rigs that "give it a go" in 1.9 Comp.

Question. I wanted to build outside of the box. Looking at starting with a traxxas telluride and making a custom chassis ontop to resemble campbells rig but have f&r ind susp.

Im guessing that
"Non-scale race-track style vehicles are not allowed. " kills that idea, along with shafty style trans.

What class are you wanting to do this in? Center shaft driven, non transmission type cars, like the telluride, are what we don't really want to see.

Re: U4RC Current Class Specs/Rules ***UPDATED 4/1/14***

I'm asking for my own insight, not as a bash...
Why does the style of tranny matter vs the over all look of the rig?
I can see no moa, but as long as there is a true tranny, they all seem to resemble a 1:1 production setup up used in one form or another.

We dont typically see trans-axle rigs in KOH races with a rear engine and a shaft running through the center of the car. :ror:

Main word there is typically, hence why I asked.
Buy you answered my question. Thanks.

Can you show me an example of one? If so It might be something to consider. Either way, the the car described above would fall into 1.9 comp if were legal at all. And it would have no chance against a well built TH so I guess I don't see the point.

In all reality I like to think out of the box. custom builds is more my game then store bought and screwed together. more of a square peg in a round holed kinda deal. "thumbsup"
parts, wraith chassis and tranny, front and rear independent suspension - rocking pitpull 2.2's.... Would a build be allowed or is it outside of the build specs?

im in Colorado and might not be able to run in a u4rc event for some time but would like to have a rig in case we start having events out here. "thumbsup"

I agree on now wanting every joe on the block with a traxxas to show up wanting to race, but, if another builder showed up with a scale replica that looked nothing like a store bought rtr, would that rig be considered?

I hope Im not pushing buttons as I don't mean to. I simply like the good old days of rcc when kits didn't exist and there was more creativity on the boards, guys coming out of the wood work with awesome innovations that no one had seen, looked awesome and worked great! Id just like to see more awesomeness.

That would be a 2.2 Comp Open car, just like the Yeti. No weight limit. "thumbsup"

We just don't want the "track car" center shaft and a transaxle with the motor hanging off. Nor do we want people asking about a 4x4 sc truck as a platform. Using the parts are fine, but that is going to be in the open, and or trophy class.

Feedback is always welcome. "thumbsup"

You want growth and stated why I wouldn't stop anyone from running one.
If it has no advantage, then there is no disadvantage to the course or series to allow it.
What is 5 SC trucks showed up and had a blast then 3 went to the LHS the next week to buy a yeti, TH, or wraith...

I can understand the want to "keep it scale" and within the idea and spirt of the race creators intentions.
But the 1:1 guys wouldn't stop it, heck KOH was bread from rock racing and we rock. Both have had some pretty strange rigs and designs over the years.

Again, I know this is my 2 cents taken with a grain of salt. No insult intended.

We have already had IFS/IRS cars running. But in trophy class. They also all had a center trans and 2 drive shafts. Do you guys allow SC trucks in SORRCA? The mosebuilt car is interesting for sure. Also I don't see a forum for the Telluride in the scale specific section here. That in itself should say something.

As long as the vehicle fits the specs of the intended class you can run whatever you want. Ive seen ralley cars run gates.
SORRCA (and I am by no means saying we are perfect) only has rules that keep the playing field equal: bumpers, widths, tire size, max height, width ect ect
Past that - Let the guys run till they prove having an advantage over "normal" rigs, and tweek the rules form there to keep things even.

I know a lot of people worry about one out of the norm type of rig or another "taking over", but history has proven that the majority will follow tried and true design. Letting the oddballs run also does nothing more than promote our sport, open arms attitude, enjoy/smiles/fun more and more.

It's not that. One of the biggest things that we do is media. We want the pictures to show that this is scale desert racing on natural terrain. This is the main reason for not allowing SC trucks. A rally car would be legal in 1.9 trail. ;-) At least the body would. it would still need to fit the rest of the rules.

I'd also add that, I am pretty sure a 1:1 Pro4 would not fit Ultra 4 rules. Forget the fact that it would never make most of the trails if any.

This is U4, scaled down Ultra4, I believe the spirit and purity of Ultra4 should be maintained in our scaled down version of the sport.
Visually I enjoy seeing rigs that look like they would/could be on the lake bed and in the rocks of Johnson Valley.

I believe if everything under the sun is allowed to run U4 (even if they may do that in Ultra4) it will take away from the Ultra4 scale realism which would take away from the U4 scene. Let too much variety into U4 and then it turns into something else!

In the 1:1 world you're not trying to look scale so you can look any way you want and still be 1:1
In U4 if you don't go the extra mile to make your 1/10 look 1:1 then it just looks like some of the shelf car from Wally's World.

sorry, just my .02 cents. feel free to delete if my post is not in the true spirit of this thread "thumbsup"
