Trump's BA Axial Jeep G6 build with a twist.

Well, since I mowed the lawn on Monday I was able to get some work done last night.

I still have the idea of running dual jerry cans. So I thought I would give it one more try. Since metal is heavier and would add undesirable weight in the rear, I thought I would give styrene a try and hope it holds up.

I started with this.

Made some holes so I could mount it.

I added some posts.

Then a cross member.

Made my dual jerry can holder.

Did a test fit with the jerry cans.

I added Bondo to the joint and let it sit overnight.

You never know when you might need a high lift jack, so I added one to my rig.

Communications are important so I added an Old School style antennae. I know the firestik antennas were available since the early 80's, but I want an old type of antennae.

That's all for now. I hope to get a little more done tonight.

Looking real good. Can't wait see how this turns out.

I got a lot of small things done.

Finished sanding the dual Jerry can holder.

20140501_194433.jpg

Installed the VP light bar, wipers, and mirrors.

20140503_204401-1.jpg

Installed a fire extinguisher. I think another zip tie would look better on the fire extinguisher.

20140503_204355-1.jpg

Installed a shifter and a grommet for the light bar wiring.

I think i just need to do the lightning and install the winch controller.

I got a little more work done on Sunday after watching the race at Talladega.

I painted the Jerry can holder chrome, but it looks more like silver.

I didn't like how it came out and it really doesn't match the rear bumper. So I painted it black.

I also painted the steering wheel and installed it.

A couple of more shots of the steering wheel.

I also installed the cage.

In this picture one can see that I ran the wire through the grommet.

Tonight I want to install the winch controller. Then it's on to lighting.

Last night I installed the new HeyOK winch controller. I also glued the Jerry cans on to the holder/carrier.

Pics of the winch controller installed?

I didn't take any pictures of the winch controller installed. However, when I open up the Project Enclosure Box to connect the wires for the lighting, I'll snap a photo.

Everything just barely fit inside.

Just for the helluva it. I was curious what the approach angle at the front bumper would be although there aren't any restrictions in front of the tires. The approach angle is slightly more than 70°.

I've made good progress on my lights. I really like the sticker rear lights on the Jeep G6. I've seen other G6s with led holders drilled through the body. They look good, but i really like the stickers. So I came up with something different. A Trump Twist if you will. I really like the way they came out. I hope you do to.

Started with a wooden dowel.

Made this ..

OK. I had to break this post into two parts. I didn't want to accidentally touch the close button and lose everything I was going to post. Big fingers and small tablets don't mix well.

Here are the lens for the front. I sprayed them with Mirror Chrome.

Here's the way I have the rear setup. I had planned on making masks, but forgot and painted the body. Luckily the paint was still fresh when i remembered and I was able to remove the paint.

I installed the rear lens after spraying them with Mirror Chrome. Some of the paint came off while handling the lens. Might have to repaint.

Here are the LEDs installed.

Next is to install a switch. Since I'm running a DIG I don't have a spare channel for a HeyOK remote switch. I really like those HeyOK light controllers, but I wanted to run a DIG.

To be continued ...

I installed the switch. I used a Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) on-on-on switch. Some also refer to the switch as a Double Pole Three Throw (DP3T). When I flip the switch the body lights turn on. Flip the switch again and the light bar comes on. When I get on a PC I'll post a diagram of how I wired it just in case someone is interested.

Here are the rear lights in daylight conditions.

Lights on.

And in the dark. The white table reflects a lot of residual light. Repainting the light buckets should reduce the light.
