Traxxas 1/10 Bigfoot 2wd to 4wd conversion possible?

The best option here is to get the body and put it on a SCX10, TRX4 or other good crawlering/scaling chassis. You will likely have to do some adjustment to the wheel base, but other than that it should be easy.

Yup. I got a Bigfoot #1 for my youngest son for Christmas. A crawler, it is NOT - even it the chassis was 4x4, it would still make a crappy crawler. Best bet is get a body and put it on a SCX10 / TRX4 / Ascender chassis.

The 4x4 Stampede platform can be made into a competent trail truck, aka Chimera A.

The suggestions here are really resonating with me and I'm really learning so much... again, I'm truly appreciative of all the help.

Let me ask at this point...

I'm good with this NOT being an ideal crawler, so assuming that I DO want this to be a fast trail truck... able to jump and do donuts and such... what will be any major advantages or disadvantages of the Stampede as compared to the Bigfoot?I'm still not completely sold on 2wd vs 4wd, so... between the 2wd Stampede and the 4wd Bigfoot. Still thinking of picking up the Stampede, scrapping the tires, wheels, and body as mentioned earlier.

My apprehension with swapping the Bigfoot body is not simply the added expense but also that I've only found two ebay listings for this Bigfoot body pre-painted and both of those listings make me wonder about the condition, authenticity, etc.

If I were in your position I’d just get the big foot and have fun bashing with it while waiting till the funds are there for a proper crawler. My brother has a big foot and we have a blast with it in the cul de sac and out at fiesta island on some packed dirt/sand. It won’t crawl worth a damn but the Titan 12T isn’t much of a crawler motor anyway, it’s made more for speed, as far as brushed motors go.

Here's another idea:

Buy a Traxxas Bigfoot and a 4x4 Stampede. Swap the body and the wheels/tires between the two so that you have a 4x4 with the Bigfoot body and the monster truck tires and a 2wd Stampede. Now either enjoy beating the everloving hell out of that 2wd Stampede, or sell it to recoup a large portion of your cash.

Please tell me how on earth I can convince my fiancee that this is the way to go lol! I honestly would love to do this but man that's a lotta cabbage!

If you sell the 2wd vehicle, your net cost will end up being the least expensive of all the options presented here so far. At least that's how you spin it, then just wait a while for her to cool off, then go bash the crap out of the 2wd "extra" and enjoy it.

Ha! You're quite obviously familiar with these kinds of dilemmas lol! She's fortunately very accommodating of my hobbies thus far but every time something new comes up, I feel like I really have to "sell it" to her so the suggested pitch may come in handy... and may indeed prove essential for procuring peace in our household haha.

I'm sure that someone here knows... Can I use my old TMaxx wheel/ tire sets and bodies on Bigfoot and/ or Stampede? I'm hoping that these might see daylight again.

Several years ago, I converted a 2wd Stampede to 4wd using another gearbox and rear suspension in place of the front suspension. I built a new chassis to connect the gearboxes and I had to cut clearance in the front suspension arms to allow the knuckles to turn. I never got to run it much but with dual motors it was not lacking for power even back in the days of 7.2V NiCads.
