ToyZuki's SCX10.2

Get a vice and bend them to the correct width.

That could possibly work, but with the way the brackets are welded, it would not allow me to tuck them in as far as I want. Plus I'm swapping over to a different body setup and these wouldnt look right anyway.

I custom ordered some today from ScalerFab.

Has anyone else had an issue with the extra shaft for thr motor mount, not sticking out far enough to attach a drive shaft to?

Try flipping the gear around on the shaft. I think one side of the gear has a deeper recess than the other side.

Tried that, but flipping the gear around puts it way too far off to one side...I'm using a stock WB shaft, and had to to just trim down the pin retaining cap so it would fit into the G10 plate. If your using MIP shafts (or similiar) you won't have any problems.

Now I remember...I had to Dremel some of the tip off my WBHD to get the pin to line up with the hole in the shaft.

Wow my memory is getting bad.

Very Tempted to get this chassis and use my RTR Parts to swap over and keep my kit the way it is. Only problem of course is the RTR uses the old AX10 Transmission so not sure how that would work.

You could just buy the parts you need for the transmission, but I can tell you that they add up to be pretty expensive because I started to do that. $4 here and $9 there...On top of that I think I was going to have to order from a couple places to get what I needed. Just open up your parts book and start adding it to your cart on your preferred sites. Remember you need a couple extra shafts that are listed in the first post.

You may decide that the better option is to either just use your kit for this build, or swap your RTR trans into your kit and use the kit trans for this.

Good point, may just take my RTR Trans and swap, upgraded that to a HR Full Metal Trans anyway. Did that before I realized how easy a trans is to work on, was my first Trail Vehicle. Honestly I am still fairly new to the hobby in general, my first RC was an ECX Ruckus 4x4 that I have yet to get the screws in the right places and the spur keeps stripping out :D. Since than I have gotten an Arrma Nero Big Rock, Summit, Senton 6s BLX, Slash 4x4 Ultimate, Axial Wraith Spawn and a Gmade Komodo.

The ones that I am currently enjoying the most, mainly due to the ease of being able to tinker with them are my SCX10 II and Gmade Komodo. I am thinking I want a TF2 or D110 though to add to them.

I can tell you that you will have about $70.00 in gears, shafts and pins . If you use Axial parts .

:D yeah I think I will just use my Kits Trans than and Swap the HR Trans from my RTR over and or just use my kit to build it up with it's VP parts and such. Whenever I can afford it anyway.

Hey Screamer...I'm trying to figure out the best way to run a 10.5" wheelbase (similiar to your china JK)...how do you plan on doing that?

All I can think of is to run VERY short rear links, but am concerned about how that will negatively impact performance?!?!

Gentlemen I'm building one from scratch. Could anyone tell me what parts I would need to complete the transmission/forward mount? Gears, shafts, etc? Also does this use the SCX10 transmission?

It uses most of the internal parts of the scx10 II kit version transmission and transfer case, and requires the two additional shafts described in the assembly section of this thread (near the beginning). The transfer case output shaft is out of stock seemingly everywhere, so the Yeti output shaft will work with some pin modification.

Would I be better off trying to find a kit trans? Also what are the two shafts required?

Definitely easier than sourcing all the shafts, pins, gears, and bearings separate, though it is doable if you sit down with the 10.2 manual, the first pages of this thread, and pen n paper. I did it with a friend a few weeks ago who has an rtr 10.2 and couldn't find a kit.

Since the 10.2 t case output shaft is just like the 10.2 axle gears, more or less unicorn teeth, you need 2x AX31134. The pin for one of them will need some filing from 2mm down to 1.5mm.

Well I guess I'm lucky. Found a kit trans on here yesterday and also a vendor that had the extra required shaft in stock as well. Now I'm just waiting for everything to arrive.

Is there a good screw kit that also includes the shoulder screws for the chubs/knuckles?
