The French Canadian Bomber (First-time Build)

RC4WD is out of stock for the 2.2 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R.
Amain Hobbies dosen't have the 2.2 MT/R and they are out of stock for the 2.2 Duratrax Deep Woods.
I think RPP Hobby has them but they charge too much for shipping to Canada.

The search continues...

Z-T0153 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 2.2 Scale Tires - Hobby Hobby

They say to contact them for availability, so no guarantee they have them.

RCFZT0153 - Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 2.2" Scale Tires By RC FOUR WHEEL DRIVE (RC4WD) @ Great Hobbies

They don't have them in stock either.

BTW both of the sites I linked are based in Canada.

I will look at them, thank you !
From my limited experience with GreatHobbies, it's pretty much like Towerhobbies, mostly out of stock ALL THE DAMN TIME.

I really try to use Amain Hobbies as much as possible since it's cheap and reasonnably fast shipping to canada.

It's funny hobby hobby is quoting me 15$ to ship to Montréal, same as RPP Hobby...
I guess i would save the custom fees... Lol

I'll wait for Amain [emoji41]

I just received my scale metal license plates from Van Ord Custom.
After looking at the final look, they might not go on the bomber but they are very nice.

For the USA people, FLQ was a semi-terrorist group in Québec who were famous for putting bombs in trash cans and they kidnapped a gouvernement official back in the 60s i think.

Just found the name funny, i won't run it in public [emoji41]

It's been a while since i had anything to add on my build but the new wheels are finally here!

I went through the same process as Billinvic. Chanquish wheels are the only option for wide wheels at decent price and shipping for Canada.

I felt bad so i used the money saved on scale hardware (acorn and ring bolts) plus SSD aluminium hub covers.

The next problem is the scale hardware from lockedup rc. They are backorder on M2x5mm zinc bolts for at least 6 weeks! [emoji22]

Can anyone with chanquish wheels tell me if M2x7mm bolts would fit?

I found an M2 10mm Bolt and tried to cut it with wire cutters. It messed up the threads and it won't work now...

I saw the SSD scale hardware but there is a lot of negative reviews. Seems like it strips easily.

Put a nut on the bolt first if you can, then cut. That way when you undo the nut you'll push the threads back into place[emoji106]
Nice to see your build not forgotten, looking forward to more updates.

Decided to go with SSD scale bolts since 6 weeks for LURC hardware is too long.
If it's good enough for billinvic's B2B, i should be fine for me too.

I then ordered Lockedup RC acorn bolts for the hubs as well as the 2mm and 3mm tools required for scale hardware.

Hopefully everything gets here at the same time as the Goodyear MT/R tires.

Just got the Goodyear MT/R 2.2 tires. Wow the rubber is so much better than the kit R35 it's not even funny.

I ordered wheel weights so these will be my crawling tires and i can swap the kit BFG for bashing and road.

Now to wait for CI foams to be back in stock at Amain...

I've ordered foams right from Crawler Innovations and the shipping was reasonable if you haven't tried them yet. They might have them in stock.

Canadian shipping is high and i was ordering more stuff from Amain too.
Can't beat 1.99$ shipping!

If you go over 50$ us they will sometimes charge 10$ in duty fees but it's not always the case.

I’m curious about this $1.99 shipping too. I just ordered some stuff from A-Main, and I chose that option also. My order was placed on April 9th, but nothing showed up in the mail on Friday.

Parts from Amain usually take 2 weeks plus to get to me in southern B.C.

So...
Another Day brings both good news and bad news.
I got my tools and scale hardware from lockedup rc and SSD but not my red rings from china that i ordered at the same time as the wheels...

The SSD hardware fits perfectly and the LURC 2mm HD driver clears the beadlock ring holes.
However, the 3mm HD Socket driver for the 4-40 acorn bolts dosen't fit in the center holes... I cannot install the VP hubs and scale acorns.

I contacted LURC and most likely i will have to eat another 11$ shipping to get the other 3mm Socket driver with thinner walls (the extended instead of HD).

Also still waiting for CI foams in stock on Amain.

If i had to do it again, i would buy the other chanquish design, the one that looks like OMF. The hub area is flat-faced so no 3mm driver issues.

Can anyone with chanquish wheels tell me if M2x7mm bolts would fit?
