The French Canadian Bomber (First-time Build)

There are always issues when mixing and matching parts and brands. It's just a bummer you have to pay so much shipping costs!

You'll be happy with Fanquish wells. They look good and they work. Plus, it hurts a lot less when you scratch them because they are relatively inexpensive.

It's been a while since i had anything to add on my build but the new wheels are finally here!

I went through the same process as Billinvic. Chanquish wheels are the only option for wide wheels at decent price and shipping for Canada.

I felt bad so i used the money saved on scale hardware (acorn and ring bolts) plus SSD aluminium hub covers.

The next problem is the scale hardware from lockedup rc. They are backorder on M2x5mm zinc bolts for at least 6 weeks! [emoji22]

Can anyone with chanquish wheels tell me if M2x7mm bolts would fit?

how are you liking these?

I have been scoping them out on Amazon.

They are awesome but i'm still waiting on the new LURC tool (thin wall 3mm socket) for the acorn nuts.
Then i also need the foams which are backorder on Amain...
And i still Haven't received the chinese red beadlock rings [emoji26]

I have narrowed down what wheels i want to a few choices, but I really want gold/bronze wheels for my build, there is a specific reason, I am not at liberty to divulge yet (livery related) because I dont wanna spoil the surprise.

I have to figure out how to get a custom livery made for a set of new clear body panels still, so wheels are a ways away for me. I wish i could paint like a badass, it wouldn't be an issue. But I paint like a 5 year old.

Ask Wayne Kent on Facebook for a set of #fastpanels.
Then ask him to have it painted by his "Guy", he is REALLY good.

Working on some scale items tonight and i need input.
Does this look any good?
It's not fixed yet so i can move it around.

I was also kinda forced to use my half-ass painted heads since my airbrush guy is overwhelmed and won't paint my nicer heads until the summer.

I went ahead and installed the lego nets. They may not stay if they are more annoying than good looking...

Next up is a final tuning of the hobbywing 1080 and some dielectric grease in every connector then i can put the cage over the skid plate!

I want the high lift jack too, torn over the inexpensive plastic one or the expensive functional one for more scale points.
I was thinking of getting a battery to put where your fuel can is.

Nets look great lol now I feel like I'm copying off you since I just ordered them my self lol.

hey you going to drive this thing or what?
I wish i had more free time to finish it.
Been stitting there for weeks...

If i can get 2 or 3 quiet nights where the kid actually sleeps instead of waking up every 30mins it will be off the bench.

Really thought i had it tonight but after rebleeding the gmade XDs to use low pressure, adjusting the ESC, installing the shocks and yelling at Led_Blue on ebay (missing my red beadlock rings...) i couldn't get it all buttoned up.

I also had the wiring for the lightbar messed up and it became too hot to touch [emoji33]
I was able to save it and now it's not even warm after being lit for 10mins.

It's sitting a few screws away from being drivable!

Okay i guess it's done [emoji33]

Tomorrow i'll put the kit wheels on and take it for a spin.

My only concern is the shocks, the springs are soft, even the hard ones feel soft in the rear.

The truck compresses the shocks about 1/4 or 1/3 when i put it down...

Im using a mix of stock panels and #fastpanels by Wayne Kent.

Stock roof and sides
#fastpanels hood, inner fenders, rear upper panels and rear enclosure (no spare).
Looks great. Who made those rear side panels? They look awesome.

I talked to Wayne, 2 month waitlist for his panels, not sure I want to go that route or not yet so I didn't place an order for them. I'd still really like to fit a truck cab lexan body over the bomber. I've seen some done and they just look so nice. Look at #axialbomber on instagram, so much good inspiration there.

Bad news, the chinese slow-boat managed to get my chanquish wheels 2 weeks early but apparently lost the red beadlock rings in the process...

So i will use the kit wheels for now.

And......
It's alive!

I ran it inside the house for like 5 mins since the battery is in storage voltage.

The hobbywing 1080 is completly silent at 16K, almost weird since you can hear all the mecanical parts working...

The Titan 550 21T motor on 3s is super smooth at low speed and still decent fast on the 11/64 gearing.

I need to set the EPA and decide on the amount of drag brake before running it outside.
Right now i think it will front flip if i run fast...

Do you know if the drag brake still applies in Fwr / Brk / Rev mode?

What did you glue your shoe string racing harnesses on with?

I'm not familiar with the HW ESC, but every other ESC I know of with drag brake, it applies all the the time, in forward and reverse, any time neutral position is detected.

As for your shocks, mine also compress about 1/4, but many people like a lower ride, because it gives better handling at nay sort of speed, these things LOOOOOOOOOVE to roll over, even with the rear sway bar.
My trailing arms are almost level the way mine sits.

I used lots of "goop" glue for the shoelaces.
Put some CA glue or tire glue on the laces before cutting them, it will prevent strands from separating.

I really like the Gmade XDs, smooth and easy to build but they are 1mm shorter than the kings plus the bump stop is HUGE so you lose at least 3-4mm of travel.

I might have to look at Pro-line or Traxxas Big Bores eventually...

Hopefully the gain in stability from the lower ride height along with the larger track width from the 475 hubs will out weight the loss of shock travel.

Nope...
Finished the build and the last week-end i had 2 days off but i spent pretty much 4 days outside to demolish the shed, prep the ground, build a new shed and level the entire backyard...

Then we replace a patio door since we had some time left [emoji43]

I'm too exhausted to go out in the woods so i rolled the bomber in the basement over kid toys and small obstacles.

I think i will re-open the cage and tweak the drag brake settings. Its intense...

The Chinese slow boat lost my red beadlock rings so i am still unable to build my other set of "all out scale" wheels.
Did you get your Bomber dirty yet aye?
