I may try fitting a smaller pinion, have all the sizes on hand, see what might fit.
IMO gearing is way too tall, but then some guys like some speed and seem to start out with trail running. I know I did. Now everything pretty much has real crawl speeds.
The truck will flip itself on its lid if you punch reverse. LOL
Fit and finish is very good. Tires are pretty grippy - they got a great rtr combo there, tires and foams. It's very capable right out of the box, and looks great. A huge page of decals if you want to decorate your rig, even license plates from WA state and bumper stickers. The kids are gonna just love that stuff. This rig will bring a lot of new people into the hobby/sport. It's priced right and works well.
The transmission comes stock setup with the overdrive front in the first position. You can set it for 1:1 or up to 11.8% overdrive. Going to run it with 5.7% to start, works great so far on my front yard rock garden/test grounds. IMO this is one of the highlight features, a home-run hit. The design group evidently thought this was important enough to incorporate it. Speaks well for the experience they drew from. "thumbsup"
Front bumper drags on everything, definitely not enough approach. That has to get fixed asap. The tie rod behind the front diff is another very good crawling feature.
No on/off switch. ESC will likely get changed out for a HW sooner rather than later. Motor is super smooth, rig is quiet. Slow start/crawl is pretty good even geared too high. Seems to be good motor, a simple sealed can 540 motor, and room for a 550. The compact battery tray is good for me. Chassis is very axial-like but plastic seems more rigid. I'm fairly sure they made sure it would be, it's a chief complaint on the axials.
The body feels thin and it flexes a lot in the cab/box joint. Looks nice though. Folding mirrors and wiper blades, led headlights. Going to have to glue some lenses in the Knight Customs Dodge grill to make it work. Looks like the turn indicator light lenses will transfer over, and there are sockets for bulbs behind them.
Parts bag has a rear body support tree for alternate bodies. It's really nicely done, hardware is outstanding. I know these will get turned into C2 comp crawlers for sure.
Cool pic with all the new rigs!
