Team Associated teasing a scale crawler!

I may try fitting a smaller pinion, have all the sizes on hand, see what might fit.
IMO gearing is way too tall, but then some guys like some speed and seem to start out with trail running. I know I did. Now everything pretty much has real crawl speeds.

The truck will flip itself on its lid if you punch reverse. LOL
Fit and finish is very good. Tires are pretty grippy - they got a great rtr combo there, tires and foams. It's very capable right out of the box, and looks great. A huge page of decals if you want to decorate your rig, even license plates from WA state and bumper stickers. The kids are gonna just love that stuff. This rig will bring a lot of new people into the hobby/sport. It's priced right and works well.

The transmission comes stock setup with the overdrive front in the first position. You can set it for 1:1 or up to 11.8% overdrive. Going to run it with 5.7% to start, works great so far on my front yard rock garden/test grounds. IMO this is one of the highlight features, a home-run hit. The design group evidently thought this was important enough to incorporate it. Speaks well for the experience they drew from. "thumbsup"

Front bumper drags on everything, definitely not enough approach. That has to get fixed asap. The tie rod behind the front diff is another very good crawling feature.

No on/off switch. ESC will likely get changed out for a HW sooner rather than later. Motor is super smooth, rig is quiet. Slow start/crawl is pretty good even geared too high. Seems to be good motor, a simple sealed can 540 motor, and room for a 550. The compact battery tray is good for me. Chassis is very axial-like but plastic seems more rigid. I'm fairly sure they made sure it would be, it's a chief complaint on the axials.

The body feels thin and it flexes a lot in the cab/box joint. Looks nice though. Folding mirrors and wiper blades, led headlights. Going to have to glue some lenses in the Knight Customs Dodge grill to make it work. Looks like the turn indicator light lenses will transfer over, and there are sockets for bulbs behind them.

Parts bag has a rear body support tree for alternate bodies. It's really nicely done, hardware is outstanding. I know these will get turned into C2 comp crawlers for sure.

Cool pic with all the new rigs!

Thanks dudes! Browneye you made a lot of good points there. Everyone was struggling with reverse.

Tires felt good when fondled. Even the foams didn’t seem bad for the weight of the truck.

A couple more shots...

This was from yesterday. I had an issue with the steering flapping left and right when trying to slow burst up a small ledge. I think I found the issue with that though looks like the stock plastic servo horn got loose and now has some play. Yes, I'm still using stock plastic servo horn! LOL.

I wanted to get one stock run in before I go away at it. The only things that aren't stock on it are the Hobbywing 1080 and my Flysky radio system.

I shoved the rear bumper in a bit, and just had the body flaps go over the sides, because I didn't want to make that permanent cutout yet.

The front bumper.... just sucks. LOL Last night I fitted some bumpers that I had on hand which is not much. I have a Scalerfab stinger, but it doesn't go the width of the body which is what I want. The JCR bumper from the SCX10.2 Cherokee kit fits and is actually smaller than the Enduro one. Yes let me repeat that the JCR Offroad bumper is smaller than the Enduro one! I'll run with that one for now, until the one I want comes out for sale...

Time to start tinkering with this truck though.

Confirming a 14T pinion fits fine. Perhaps a 13, did not have one to try. I had a couple of 14's, I think that's a stock Vaterra. Matches the 18 that came out of it perfectly, just a little shorter. Adjust slots allow perfect mesh, still dead silent. But now no more reverse wheelies, and it's MUCH more controllable. Very much improved!

I also made some headlight lenses from some poly body plastic and glued them into the KC Dodge grill. Pics Monday... ;-)

Check that servo horn screw - mine was loose, would have stripped out pretty quick. Servo actually works pretty good.

Stock setting on the esc is 50% drag brake, which surely is fine for trail running, but not so much for hill hold. Changing the jumper it stops RIGHT NOW and holds on a steep incline. "thumbsup"

They do call it a 'trail rig'. ;-)

Great pics Danza!"thumbsup" It's great to see so many of these rigs hitting the trails. Loving all the American Flags!

Great job on the video soze! It was cool to see them sweet lines you were taking with it.

CDM is on my list of fun spots to crawl on someday! It's just too bad I'm 2300 miles away!

Why companies still ship plastic servo horns on RTR crawlers is beyond me, especially this one! Easy fix, but still. Annoying for a newbie getting into the hobby and arguably the only true weak point.

Being 45 minutes from CDM and Vasquez Rocks spoils me sometimes - I stumbled into crawling fairly recently and the day I discovered CDM I also ran into mikesrch and the prerelease Enduro, and he told me the story of the truck’s origins and how CDM was a key spot that contributed to the truck being created. It’s like two of the best spots to crawl in the country are at my doorstep and it burns you out sometimes (and makes you wanna build too many rigs!), but in the best way. It’s worth the trip, make a little vacation out of it!

Except they forgot to test with the bumper on! LOL.... I kid, I kid....

Taking a look at my body after I'd just removed the bed... I don't think this body will last long. I like the way the cab looks, but it's just not thick enough of a lexan to prevent ripping.

Some fender trimming will need to be done as my stock setup keeps rubbing it and has already ripped a little of the driver's side fender. Also the body has notches on the side to hold it up at the rock sliders. That's starting to see a rip too.

Since Element made those "Hard" plastic pieces... it would be nice if they made "Hard" body version, since I really do like the cab. I'll run it until I can't, but I'd like to keep running this cab design on the rig.

Well in the mean time you might try beefing up the body in those spots using E6000 and drywall tape/mesh just to keep it together

True, I didn't think about that. Fenders will still need to be trimmed though, but that's kind of the norm for most bodies anyway.

It's the sides I'm worried about, since I'm removing the bed. With the bed removed the body will depend on resting on the sliders at the notches.

I use Gorilla tape on all of my lexan bodies on the inside. I put the tape in places where there may be rubs or ripping. I use brown, but I think it comes in clear too. It really helps stiffen and protect the body.

I plan on doing this to my future Enduro body too!

Harley tore his up early as its thin.
This was another reason for my choice of the kit. As its for my better half, I don’t want to fix her crash damage, so I went with a one piece ProLine Comanche body.

Alright, the play I was talking about earlier with the steering... I thought it was the servo horn, but it's not. There is actually play with the servo shaft itself. I can wiggle it back and forth, whereas my other servos are pretty solid. Not sure if this happened during running, or if it was like that already.

I guess I can take a video of it and put it up here when I get the chance. If anyone else who has the truck already can check, that'd be great. I'll be swapping the servo anyway, but it'd be nice to have that 13kg handy for other stuff/applications.

EDIT: With the servo off the truck, it has a little play, but it's not too bad. I'll give it a run with the new servo and metal servo horn. Figure out if it's just characteristics of the BTA setup.

It seems that the element has good aplomb, both lateral and upward, and good direction, I like the body, it looks great. May your lucky owners enjoy it.

Good idea. "thumbsup"
I'v fixed 'em, but not preventive. Ya, the body is thin.

I shaved off the lower lip of both bumpers and refit them a quarter to three-eights closer, so it improved approach and departure dramatically. Pics Monday.

Maybe I'll start a 'mods' thread unless somebody gets to it. So far I really like it.

I get some shaft play on all my servos, this one included. I just don't think the tolerances are that great on them. After some testing on my front yard course I'd say it's pretty weak too.

How is the the transmission? Has anyone broken anything in the trans? I saw the thing about the screws already. Also, what size are the outputs on the trans?

According to John Schultz you wont need the upgraded metal gears either. He beat the snot out of the 3s brushless, wedged it between rocks and posted that video
