Team Associated teasing a scale crawler!

Just ordered one as my first ever crawler and was hoping for some help with a couple of questions. I have some Dynamite 3s 5000 packs and would love to not have to buy new batteries. I have deans->EC5 adapters. Would you all with experience consider a shorty pack a "must" upgrade or is it just preferred?

If I can use these packs should I gear down for 3s?

If shorty packs are quite necessary should I go with 2s or 3s?

It looks like the bumpers are too big, is there anything else that should be changed/upgraded right away or should I just drive the thing and enjoy as is?

I come from bashing and airplanes but I'm not sure how much of my previous knowledge will carry over here. Thanks in advance!

Start with what you have, go from there with what you need in your spot(s). It comes with a long battery tray, and deans will work fine. Reverse the front bumper, remove the rear and enjoy the truck after swapping battery trays. After a couple of packs, you will know if you want or need shortys. We are starting this truck out on long 2s packs, because I’ve got a pair and they will fit. Speed will tell me 2or 3s and gearing swaps if needed.
If it is too fast on a 3s for you, drop the pinion down to a 13/14 and see if thats comfy for your spot

Hang up and Drive

Based on the vid I might try one hole up on the front body mounts. See if that reduces the tire rubbing. I like to set mine up so they do a little, at least you don't have gaping fender openings.

Trimming the bumpers and pulling them in makes a huge difference.

Yep that's what I was going to do, massage the bumpers up and in, maybe some dremel surgery on the bumpers themselves.
I will see what I can do Tuesday when I pick mine up!

Good to know about the 14 pinion too. That's what I suspected, just need to rummage through my bins to see if I have an extra.

Will pick up some drywall tape too. Ironically I was just at home depot this morning for unrelated house stuff and forgot about drywall tape. I'm really curious about pulling the bed off.
I got some ideas... ;)

*OH! has anyone tried a servo winch yet???

I pulled the bed off, I really want to run a rear cage. I just can't find a cage I like that fits. I know the Pro-Line one works, because some guys are running it, but I'm not sold on the way that one looks. I eyeballed the vaterra cage, but it's too long and the side plate will hit the rear wheels. There was another cage that I was considering... but it doesn't line up properly with the rear wheels.

I have one that you didnt mention. Really looking forward to trying it once I get the truck tuesday.
I will post pics.

*what if you put longer rear 4 links on the rear for the ascender cage? How close are those side panels?

Those look really nice, and if they would be able to make those in plastic I'd totally be down, but I'm trying to keep the weight lighter.

You might have to stretch it out a bit. Not sure what wheelbase you'd end up at though. I have one i'm going to try, but I'll have to mount the rear shocks differently.

Some pics of Rodney’s enduro, from battleborn rc paint. Another friend and I really stretched the legs on his, got it to pull some nice lines and check its limits. Pretty impressive out of the box, hope to have a video together later.

Vaterra cage to long cut it down to the length and width you want. Side plates cut them off. I narrowed my Vaterra cage to fit the width of the Power Wagon body.
Proline cage is nice but I personally think it's a lil heavy. We cut most of the excess cage off. Looks and works so much better.

Nice paint job! It took the appearance of that body to the next level!

I’ve been thinking about a 2-tone color for my future Enduro. Still not sure on the colors yet.

While I'm waiting for the kit to arrive, does anyone know the smallest pinion you can use?

Just looking at where the 18T is now and with the substantial slots, I guessing a 12T - 13T (48P) wouldn't be unreasonable.

Ooh that would be nice. Anyone confirm this? 13t would be great:twisted:

13 is maybe, 14 confirmed- works much better. Try a 14 and see whatcha think.
Reverse is still ridiculous.

The green and black paint job is outstanding.
I was going for black fender flares.

Went down to CDM today to try mine out and the lot was full and not a street spot within blocks, so we’re drinking beer instead. :lmao:

I raised my front body mounts to the top and trimmed the back of the front flares and most of the tire rub is gone. Added neoprene washers to the body posts - rattling gone.

Oh and ‘dodge’ letters on the tailgate and the knight dodge grill is on.
Whats a good way to add some front axle weight?

That's too bad about not being able to crawl out there today. I'm going to try to make it down Saturday morning if you want to go, but I usually try to hit it around 9am or so before it gets too hot.

I'm also looking for a way to put weight on the front axle aside from rotating mass such as "disc brake" weights. I'll have to check if the SSD brass knuckles for the SCX10.2 might work, but then you'd lose the BTA steering. I wonder if the SSD Brass knuckles for the HPI Venture might fit.
