Team Associated teasing a scale crawler!

What do? Is it worth it to get the kit? I can't find much info other than shocks and gears.

Shock parts, steel gears, and the links to do multiple wheelbases are the differences.

As to which one is the better value, that largely depends on how much of the RTR stuff you would use and how much stuff you would have to buy to get the kit running.

If you like the RTR body, wheels, tires and/or plan on running the stock electronics = RTR is likely the better value since the cost of wheels, tires, and a body or new electronics will quickly exceed the $110 price difference between the kit and RTR.

If you plan on changing most of the RTR gear or have a significant supply of spare electronics, wheels, tires, etc = Kit is likely the better value since using things you already own is vastly cheaper than buying new stuff and there is no use paying for stuff you won't use in the RTR

^^This.

Can anyone point me at metal link pivots? I want to replace mine right away.

When I saw the kit option my heart sunk cuz I already pre-ordered the RTR. Then I decided what the H, I'm happy to have the whole unit as designed - run it, enjoy it, learn it, and then do mods and upgrades later. Gee if I REALLY want it on my DS5C radio I can throw a rx in there. Having another transmitter is just no big deal - it's not that bad of a unit either, having handled it at PLBF.

FYI- our plastic isnt soft like others plastic, Our Balls are really hard in our kit and RTR for longevity, but you cant beat metal balls at the end of the day! "thumbsup"

Manual is up on the Associated/Element site now.

https://img2.associatedelectrics.com/pdf/cars_and_trucks/Enduro_Trail_Truck/Builders_Kit/manual-Enduro-Sendero-40100.pdf

I had not previously seen the gear ratios but out of the box with the 5.7% overdrive, it looks like about 47.1:1 in the front and 49.8:1 in the rear. A SCXII RTR is about 42:1 out of the box so even the overdriven front is quite a bit lower than that. Yay for trucks with good gear ratios.

Also, the stock spur is the same 87T 48P spur from the various race vehicles. This means the spurs from the GT2 (part #s 7955 & 7957) should be a direct fit for converting to 32P.

thank you gents. knew i would get all the right answers.

i think like chris said, run as designed with all their stuff (keep hearing how great the RTR electronics are, smooth, quiet)
and i don't think i could get wheels, tires, RX, ESC, servo for under $110.

its looking less likely i will get the SSD. i just need a rig i can RUN and not worry so much about scale details (on the chassis).

also, I DIED :lmao:
Our Balls are really hard

My wife will be glad to know my balls are really hard. ;-)

BTW, the REEDY 3s shorty packs are in stock too - $44. I was gonna get one with a set of pivot balls for links and for the shocks.

Oh, and my dealer, Losi Parts Warehouse, says they should get their shipment today or tomorrow - will ship out on receipt. I should have mine by Thursday or Friday. Whoot!

Awesome! My LHS confirmed my order will be ready for pickup tomorrow!

@Browneye - dare I say we should have an Enduro crawl at CDM?

So here's a dutch guy reading all this, trying to get a feel for the Element. My buddy Chris from Norway also had one of the early RTR's and is trying to sweettalk me buying a kit.
Lost my faith in Axial, laughing inside about Hpi, definitely said "nay" to the RedCat Gen8pack, eyeballing the MST CFX-w, having a softspot for my 2 TRX's, almost had a stroke while looking at the price of the SSD and VP and now in the market for another chassis. Is this it? The Element... It has my full interest.

(ascender fam: does this sorta feel like what it would feel like if we got the ascender 2?)

It has my interest as well, tho Im still a bit concerned with all that plastic and flex which means upgrades ($$$) (Shock towers, chassis cross braces, brass parts, all metal drivetrain, ...)

Our plastic is the same plastic used in our racecars, stock plastic will have some flex but we do sell hard plastic as well.
