I know how much man hour has gone into that too...

I'd just like to say that it look's great. And I'm glad to see it's just about done and ready to be crawled apond by every one too... Congrad's on your awesome new indoor crawling layout guy's .."ENJOY" and thank's for giving me alot of good Idea's to use on my own indoor layout... That I now see as changing around alil' bit as to what I just seen of this great layout of your's .."thank's for sharing these new updated pic's with all of us too... Have a wonderfull holiday's too by the way guy's, & God bless you & your's too. Scoot'er

I finally got to run on the indoor course last night. Crawler worked, which is surprising. Indoor course worked pretty good too. Free crawling is always way easier then running gates, but I can see it being a good time. My crawler worked pretty well out of the box. The OTA did what it was supposed to do. My servo might be on it's last leg. A little experimenting is in order to get it right.

I was really hoping to get out there today to try out the new course. But I'll have to wait till later. Anyways, Just curious of the type of material used to cover the course. I'm actually going to be building a course very similar to this in my basement for some fun in the winter. I live about 45 minutes away from Ft Wayne and it gets expensive driving back and forth 2-3 times a week.

The material that I used to cover the course is quickcrete motar mix. The the entire course has two coats to make sure everthing was covered enough to hold up to the abuse of crawlers using dig.

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in having a couple of informal comps/gatherings? Just more of practice but actually set up a couple of courses.Any input would help, especially what day people would prefer to run.

hey joe just let me know and we can arrange something!! preferably on a sat or sun...maybe in two weeks so we can get some more people!!!

I've been over there the past 2 weekends running the course. The one thing ive noticed is that the quick crete is getting very loose! The top layer needs to be scrubbed off a bit as it is getting VERY dusty now. otherwise the course seems to work pretty good. I still have not been able to sucessfully get up the Hose climb section. Guess I need to figure out what tires work in there. And also the deep hole on the back side has been giving me fits!!! I've managed to get up it a few times last weekend with my stock chassis but I tried and tried today with my new DNA slingshot and have not been able to do it.

They now have a rope bridge on the course that is challenging if you dont know how to approach it and how to exit the bridge! Its fun though. Broke a steering servo arm and bent an aluminum knuckle falling off it a couple of times!!

Thank you for that lil' up date on this layout brotha'...

I've been following this all along too... And each time I peek back at these latest pic's of the layout. I start to get the Idea that the top coat is looking alot like dry wall patching... "Very dry and dusty looking " So, what you are saying is that it is taking a very long time for the quickcrete to harden up all the way down to the bottom coat. If I'm, following you right..?!! I am running into that same problem as I have been building up alot bigger layout here at home in me basement. To which I don't have that much "HEAT going on" to help with drying everything out as fast as you guy have going on for you there... I have just started the second coat last week for so. But had to stop working on my "Project for the time being" as to having to up & travel to "MD" over a family matter... And I have not returned home as yet.. but, I figure'd when I get back home and around to heading back down into the my basement again... To joyfully return to my own Indoor crawling spot project...!!! Very simular to this one that, it's going to be just like you have just SAID about this Latest found problem to which you have just now come to see happening with that layout... For I have been doing everything just about the same as you have been doing all along there... Following along as to. "HOW & What " You all have used & done to make this layout.... So, I now after just hear what you said in your latest posting about all these Lil' new found problem's & Etc. I feel mine will be "LOOSE" also, "THAT'S IF it's dry'd up all that much since I've been away from it about a week now"...?!! So, if I was to just scrub out alot of that not finished with second coat that I was working into my layout... For Most of it still's got just one coat packed into it so far, I figure now that I'm justgoing to have to take my hand's, And just feel all around & kinda rub it all out by hand again & push down alil' with a firm amount of pressure to see if I do loosing up or, cause it to crack & Etc in any place thru out the whole thing... So, would you Please keep all the update's coming "THANK YOU BROTHA'S", And thank's guy's for sharing all that info & everything from the start, As to all that has gone into this great PROJECT you fella's have done there too... I just hope mine turn's out half as good as this one has for all of you... And I'll, try to get some pic's up on here to show you all how mine has turned out for me.... HEY, throw a couple of new pic's up on here showing that new rope "TRICK" ...LoL... For I have been thinking of doing the same thing with mine. but I don't want to be falling any more the 3 1/2 feet to the bottom of the gap I'm going to swing mine across.. Cause, I Know darn well that's a easy way to break alot of shit off an otherwise great running rig... ...Have Fun with it... And may you & your family's have a Safe and Happy holiday's too Brotha's .... Scoot'er ....

paint it it will quite getting dusty

Does that work pretty good? What kind of paint would you suggest to use? I was trying to come up with a way to seal it. I know that the course will need cleaned with shop vac once in a while.I was ther last night for the first time to run and found a few places a bit more challaging than I thought they would be.I also saw a few places that will need some touch up work too. Over all I can see it getting very challanging with gate markers on it.You have Jeff to thank for the rope bridge,he put it up last night. I only made it across like 2 times, the rest of the time I was on the floor. I will definatly need to work on that....

DUSTY is someone complaining that the simulated outdoor dirt/concrete/rock course is dirty. Quit running you foam tire car on it and it won't matter:ror:

Seriously, I ran Joe's trucks on the course Friday night and it was a blast, I may even have to break-out the Berg for a Axial... dusting"thumbsup"

I'd consider a meet but my availability is limited right now, but if a date/time fits I'll be there.

i bought the oops gallons from wal-mart just to get it sealed and some color on it and it makes some areas slick also very sweet

My buddy and I did set up a bunch of gates on the course yesterday, We were'nt quite sure how wide apart the gates had to be so i'm thinking that me made quite a few gates too narrow. With the gates on the course, Its still quite doable but its VERY tight in some places. The hardes part to get through would be the climb and turn out of the deep hole on the left side. Getting out of the hole is tough enough let alone trying to turn once out of it, Took me 6 reverses to get outta that one!! The dust on the course is not really that bad i guess, Just kinda sux on the off camber sidehilling obstacles. Tires that once gripped well just slid of to the side with no resistance at all. The dust is just making the course a bit harder to navigate. It will get worse before it gets better.
I really think a good epoxy type paint will make the course nearly indestructable, Expensive YES but worth it. no sense taking all that time and effort building such a great course just to see it get ripped up in a few weeks. The quickcrete is durable but nowhere as durable as prepared concrete. It is really designed to be filling post holes or making a quick repair. The overall makeup of the concrete does not allow it to be smoothed and harden like regular concrete. So covering it with some type of sealer or epoxy would be the best thing to do. Something like garage floor epoxy would work great!

Oh as far as the rope bridge, It might not be a bad idea to put some type of padding or cushion under the bridge, The other guy on here said it perfectly about ruining a perfectly set up truck. My injuries were minor but I could see it getting much worse!

Hey guys! Just a quick question about the indoor rock run. How wide is the center isle between the tables? My wheelchair is about 28-29" wide and i am getting itchy to come up again once Thanksgiving is done with. I am also getting started on a new project that I hope to have done by the first of the year. Let me know, I want to bring my AX10 buggy up and see if I can beat someone without cheating......errr.....using my 4 wheel steer. :ror:

Looking forward to seeing you all again.
