Really good work on the Rubbermaid box... Spot on!!!

Only criticism I could possibly find is either weather the inside of your bed to a different shade/color, or change the base color of the Action Packer box on the bottom. The box is an awesome detail for the truck, but with the bed and the bottom of the box being the same exact paint and color.... It gets kinda lost in there....

It ruins computers too. Don't ask me how I know. I finally took the time to stick my bottle in a piece of foam to prevent spills.

#11 blade, #17 blade, steel ruler/straight edge, machinist square, various files, sanding blocks (sand paper glued to wooden blocks), rotary tool. I try not to use too much filler, but if I have to it's 3M glazing putty.

Thank you. I use the "standard" #11 blade. I'll have to check out the #17. What grit sand papers are you using most often?

Also, how does the 3M putty compare to the Bondo glazing putty or is it the same stuff?

The #17 is a chisel type blade. I use it to knock down the ripple that the #11 blade makes when I cut the plastic. Not totally necessary, but I like the result.

I use 60 for heavy sanding, then something in the 100s, then work my way to 220. Maybe some 400 if I'm feeling up to it.

The 3m is the same, I think they own the Bondo name or something. I only use it for scratches and shallow fills. I use styrene for the rest.

Where are you guys getting the big sheets of styrene from? I seen that Mcmaster carr had some large sheets but wasnt sure if it was the same stuff or not.

i get mine from tower in 7" x 12" sheets in any thickness you need/want....go to tower and type in "styrene' in there search box and pick what ya want "thumbsup" .........bob

You can also google it...see if you have a local plastics shop (signs, chairmats, etc) they usually carry it.

I bought a 4'x8' sheet of .060 and had them cut it down to 4 2'x4' sheets (still pretty big) for $28. I posted earlier that they sell online.....They would probably cut them down before shipping...they may also have a location close to you.

As a recent graduate of the "Pardonmynoob Academy for Styrene Niftyness and Scale Miscellany" :mrgreen:, I've been tinkering with styrene myself a bit. You really are only limited by your imagination... and spare time... and I guess styrene.


My "garage"... an ongoing project I started about a month or so ago. First, a workbench/cabinets.

Working on some new items for my Wraith now. A new trim panel/cargo tray for the rear and a hidden area behind the cab for storage. Will have working hinged lid.

Thanks for the kind words, but I'm only a beginner. There are some truly phenomenal folks out there in our hobby with this stuff... Pardonmynoob, ImThatGuy, many more.

Styrene is loads of fun. The "flat screen" is actually just a box I constructed with an open end on top and a square cut out in the front to fit the size of my old iPhone screen. I just slide it down inside the box and then pull up whatever movies I feel like watching while tinkering in the garage. In the picture(s) above I was watching Step Brothers. :mrgreen:
