Let there be air! The old compressor (which was brand new) couldn't keep up with the needs. Even though it was rated at twice the flow. Residential supply stores like tractor supply dont sell the good stuff. The new tan compressor is an industrial unit, keeps up just fine. After I finish the lights install a garage door I'll gang the two together for twice the stored air. Since the electric is only a 50a circuit I can only run one compressor.

Once you get this chair up and running, someone is going to be the first person to get a speeding ticket in a wheel chair !

:shock::shock::shock:

At least if you crash and are paralyzed, you'll already be in a wheelchair :ror:

Need a test pilot?

Did a little programmed whittling on the lathe today after knawing down the regular run of puller faceplates.

This is what a good solder station can do, and some steady practiced hands. The components were placed with a regular chisel tip, and no hot air or hot plate assistance.

The black wire on the bench is 16g, the table top is made of OSB. The solder is .032". The components being attached are less than a mm wide!

You are lucky you have steady hands. Besides shaking I have tremors and when one of those hits it will move the tip and inch or more. Desoldering wick is my best friend!

thats not cool man.... setting unrealistic expectations for the rest of us!!!! you cant just go from a taig mill to .....THAT!!!! ............ this is ridiculous! ;-)
Keep up the sharing! I've enjoyed the whole thread! thank you for sharing!
BTW did i see a modified trials bike hanging from a ceiling in there somewhere? oh how i miss my youth

It is a big jump from Taig to Mazak huh :ror:

Once I get a few jobs knocked off the Mazak I'll be re configuring some Taig parts into a horizontal mill. I've come to really hate the steppers, I would build it with encoders if I were to start over.

So now I have a Logan 12x24, two taig mini lathes, and a Mazak. Now I just need a nice big mill from Mazak ;-)

Being a machinist is not a glamorous job, but the end products can sure make up for the greasy metal covered hands.
