my honcho body shipped today im planning on a complete custom tube chassis this will be a slow build cause these aint cheep but ill document my costs and try to build it as cheap as possable and still use in my opinion good parts

the only axial parts im planning on using is the body set and there skid plate and maybe a few cosmetic parts

so body was 160+ ill say 175 after tax and shipping

ive wanted a honch since they came out but never got around to buying or building 1 but when i saw the honcho 6 i had to have one but i just dont have that kinda money so ill just build one slowly over time

im interested to see how it comes together too this is gona be fun

Definitely interested to see what the total ends up being. At least this way you can pick and choose what parts and electronics you want to put on it. If it came in kit form I’d be all over it.

damb the transmission is huge and heavy it must weigh 10lbs by its self i thought it was a battery for my solar system but nope it was the scx6 trans holly poop

i should have my body today hopfully fed-up dosent ruin it in shipping

Look the SCX6 only as a rolling frame , how cool is that for the builders out there, i do dislike the colour

the parts cost so much its hard to put to much effert in to it but as parts come in i get alittle motivation to work on it lol and i spend alot of time staring at it trying do design it in my head before i make it
im using 1/4 inch steel rod recycled from some kind of shelf unit so im saving about $150 by making my own cage from scraps and not buying the frame rails or the bed cage

Axles should be here in a day or 2 then i need some drive shafts so i can set the wheel base and that will tell me were to place the skid on the chassie then i can start welding up the frame and rear cage

Praticing my body painting on some cheap bodys to make sure i got it down enuff to not screw this one up

Im missing the electronics still but have just about everything else so once i get some shafts it should make alot of progress pretty quick

Axles + $150 "yup the cheapest complete axles i could find " so that puts me at about $440 as of right now

I got the inside of the body painted the provided masks suck so I used masking tape but I did use them on the lights and sure enuff I got some bleed though not to big of a deal but kinda bummed me out
The front fenders I painted white to give that fiberglass fenders look when the paint scratches
The rest of the cab I used a vary light coat of silver and backed it with some gray primer it's not vary uniform but it's a underlayment and will look just fine under the scratches

very cool build

those huge axles must weight some? great have alot weight down low

Scratch builds are the coolest with alu axles, many times better than the original plastic rigs.

If you can weld, then do own custom builds only.
RTR Kits sucks many times.

My issue is that i can not weld, and i dont have weld machine :( If i had, i would only do scratch builds.

My current dream is build one custom scrats TRX4 +size. stock is 324mm wheelbase i believe.
My dream is Make one 360mm and have 4wheel steering = two front axles, front x2 alu axles with remote locks. Portals
and huge 2.2 wheels

Cab only body

Ferp420 you live in huge area, this 1/6 Scale will be nice to you, you need some huge size there

Yes 200000 acers

Anyway the drive shafts showed up in ordered 2 sets cause I want a longer wheelbase than stock so I bought a extra set to make a extra long shaft then I can set my wheelbase were I think it should be and start on the cage
I'll post pics as soon as I have something to take pics of lol

Ha! White, fiberglass fenders. A true southern California offroad rig. Some Ford Ranger badging would top it off.
