Should we attack a scale drive train?

And can everyone post up what they prefer in pinion/spur combinations on a ax-10 rig? Since if it is done, I would like it to be designed to the most popular configurations.

Nothing is set in stone. Just doing a little research to see if it was viable, And worthwhile.
 
Niche, imho.

No transfer case, no scale drivetrain.

Maybe I just can't picture what people are wanting with this idea. Enlighten me, everyone..

All I want is bulletproof parts. If you guys make it, it will look awesome, regardless.

The point is scale appearance, which is the fastest growing and likely the largest segment of our hobby.

A scale drivetrain (engine, transmission, transfer case) is something that has not been done well yet. The RC4WD version is cheesy, the Eritex version was headed in the right direction then he bailed with our money.

A scale drivetrain needs to be just that, scale. Outer dimensions and style are most important.
 
Awesome! definatley do it! I would do 32 pich for durabillity. Other than that, Ill start saving my money!!

I see no reason to complicate the design and raise the cost. How often do you really plan on changing gears sets? I say simple, strong, and looks accurate.

If it has the ability to change the ratios it could work for just about anyone- some guys might want a overdrive ratio, some might need a 1:1 and others might need an under drive ratio. Flexibility would make it appeal to anyone.
 
No spur gear really. It would need to be too large to fit one like that. Reduction would have to happen off of smaller gears (think MOA gear box).


A transmission that nets the same gear reduction as an axial trans, has no spur (for Clearence issues), fits up front between the frame rails, and has as low COG as possible would be stellar.
