Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug 8

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

Man, I would LOVE to go! But..... the wife's class reunion is the 7th and we leave for vacation early morning on the 9th. I'm only 168 miles away, though, so put me on the 'maybe' list. I have a stock TXT-1(should be locked and possibly stretched soon). :)

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

Done, I hope you can make it :D

Anybody else having as many problems as I am getting there rigs togeather? I started to paint the bronc bod for my TLT today (I've been running a diffrent one but it's beat to death) and the compressor killed over on me. So I started on the chassie for my big truck and the so called 7071 alum I got is so brittle it cracks when I bend it  Oh well, gives me an exuse to hack up a TXT-1 frame :flipoff:

I thought my truck was coming together rather smoothly, made new links today for a 14.5" wheelbase and locked the diff's. Just got back from a test ride.... my turning radius stinks! I don't have the time or money to go 3-channel right now and I don't really want to run 2-CH/rear servo with a Y-harness. I guess I'll just have to live with the crappy turning radius for now.

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

I'm on the Maybe list.

I've got the axles together and locked, I've got the 7:1 units on. Still working getting the shocks in a mounting position that works good. I hope to have it running by this weekend, if I do, then I'm pretty sure I'm in.

Worst case I guess I could bring the Clodzilla II and IV.

The scorpion is back in the hands of John Boyer, the TXT needs electronics installed, and I have a clod that's ready for the most part.

All the rigs that show up will be in the mag. :)

I'll need to know some hotel info...I'd like to be able to stay somewhere close. I'm coming to town Saturday to meet up and do a recon of the site.

I should be done with my 1/4 scale servo install and narrowed Kongs by this Sun so I will be there for sure. Hope my REVO shafts get here in time.

KrawlerTJ, let me know if you need any help getting the TJ ready.

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

I'm not sure if my big truck is going to make it, got my diffs in today (well the truck I'm stealing diffs from) and it's a POS, no CVD's rusted hardware ect....I may have to use my truck and drive really easy

Anywho Jason, I'll see what I can find there. I know theres a motel 6 or 8 or whatever there calling it now in Mo town so I'll get you the # for that sometime today and see what else is there.

Welp I'm off to fab some body mounts....

Wow, no pressure there! Now do I not only have to get my junk to work decent but I gotta make it look good too! 8O

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

Hey, at least you got a fair warning!

:p

I need to make mine look good as well.

I have a body to paint and a complete truck to build/paint.

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

Here you go Jason.

(270)-526-9481

and the addy is:

1460 S Main Street.

It's a motel 6, and it's probably your best bet unless you want to get stuck in one with rats and a meth lab next door

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

Oh yeah one more thing, I'll be going to green river again tommarro to shoot some more pics. If anyone wants a picture of something you should get to me ASAP :D

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

I`ll probably stay there since I`ll be coming up on sat, don`t want to drive 14hrs on sunday. I`m not above staying in any localy owned motels but I`ll have to look at the room before I give any money.

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

OK, so I completely ripped my TXT apart to change the links and raise the transmission. I started a new chassis 'cause I didn't want to take a hacksaw to the pretty stock aluminum. I picked up a GD-600 and planned to run a single 19-turn touring car motor that I had. I started to worry that I might not be able to get the truck back together and working properly with enough time to get ready for next weekend..... so I put it back together almost exactly like it was. Stock chassis configuration and link location, links are 1" longer in the rear and 1/2" longer in the front, swaybars (hey, I like the way the truck works with them on  ), and two stock motors. I have a few little things that I want to do to my rig but that's pretty much how it will be when I bring it to KY. I'll probably be hung up a lot on my low hanging frame/tranny but I'll be driving a truck that I have a few weeks of practice with instead of one that I have no driving-time with. After I get smoked by the rigs you guys have built then I'll know what I have to do before the next ride.

So is everyone that's on the list still planning on coming?

Oh, and I would be interested in a competition even though I haven't a chance of winning.

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

 Yeah I just gave up on the big crawler, to many things that could break sence I dont have the parts I thought I would have. Agh well maybe next time, gives me more time to fine tune the TLT.

But anywho, I just realised that I have all of three "half" tennis balls for markers. Anyone care to bring some up to help out a bit? We could just use chalk if no-one has any but tenis balls are alot easier to see....

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

I can probably bring some tennis ball with me, I`ll see what I can scrounge up.

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

CSR, you think that's bad?

I'll probably get my boyer chassis back tuesday or wednesday.

I'm leaving Friday night! 8O

I have no idea hot it's going to turn out...or even if I'll finish it.

If all else fails I can bring the Clod and TXT, even though neither of them is as crazy as some of the rigs on here.

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

Thanks alot 4XADICT, it would be appreciated (takes a while for me to cut them  ).

Re: Rock crawling in South central Ky by the green river Aug

I'll see if I have any balls around here somewhere.....

I know my kids have colored driveway chalk, just tripped over a bucket of it out in the carport.

I took my TXT out to get in some more practice time today. I broke the steering servo arm after about 3 minutes of crawling on a pile of firewood. :(
