Since eyeballing with crawler‘s a few years ago, i liked the Mojave Body.
So it was obvious that one day a Mojave will build.

First i had a look on the TF2 chassis, but what i saw and read, was not the way i wanna go through...
So i consider to pick up a TRX4 and do some mods to fit. It turns out, that this not gonna happens. No more Portalaxles for now!

A few weeks ago, i given my Yeti to a good friend that i buy to build a Trophy Truck.
I was surprised how the Yeti performs on the Trails and how he keep up with my VS4-10.

So i picked up a SCX10 II raw builders kit, a Mojave Body and some other stuff.
Yesterday the Postman bring me this:

On the electronic side, i go with a HH Crawlmaster Sport 16T, Quickrun 1080 and a Hitec 7955TG i had laying around.
Servo will be replaced by a HH500V3 for a clean wiring.

Tires are obviously to big (Pitbull 4.75) and will be replaced by some class1 Proline BFGoodrich MT.

The rig needs some Hopup‘s like Axles, front Shock Hoops, driveshafts and for sure Shocks.

Tuning:

Shocks: Traxxas GTS

Axles: SSD D44 or Vanquish RockJocks

Driveshaft: don’t know which way to go with the 11.4 wheelsbase. So any input will be great!

Any other tuning suggestions for a nice performing rig?

Have a good one!

That is some seriously sweet action! Looks like you got a great start. Drive it and see what you think!

Re: Here‘s Johnny!

That looks good with those big tires. I like the cage too.

Traxxas GTS shocks are great.

If you go with SSD axles get the ones with the metal tubes.

You can stick with Axial Wild Boar driveshafts. They are inexpensive and work very well.

Get some good foams for your tires and then drive the truck. See how it handles before making extensive changes. That is a heavy body though so a little weight down low, like SSD brass knuckles, will help to lower the center of gravity and improve peformance.

Nice looking truck. Really like the bed.

Re: Here‘s Johnny!

Thanks for your thoughts guys.

Yep, drive and see what is needed, is always the best.
And yes, weight down somewhere is not wrong at all.
I think i go for the RockJocks and some brass...

Didn’t know the Axial wild boar shafts. Did they worl with the short wheelbase?
They are sold out as far i can see... till october.

That actually looks really good bro. It should run nice.

Re: Here‘s Johnny! SCX10 II Mojave

Thanks... like it a lot more with the class1 tires.
The RC4WD Interior going back.
It’s not possible to mount it straight and all the molded plastic parts, are strange molded.
I don’t know how to explain... but far away from what i expected.
But this gives me the possibility to save weight snd build something by my own.

Re: Here‘s Johnny! SCX10 II Mojave

I was going to say, stay with bigger tires; but it looks great with the smaller tires.

Re: Here‘s Johnny! SCX10 II Mojave

Placed a order on shapeways for the MOD19RC inner fenders and Mojave body mounts... they look well designed!

Yes, it was not a easy decision, but i am happy with the way it looks.
Ordered a complete Mojave body as well... so i can pinch one cab (first time for me!) to go with bigger tires when i want to.

Here‘s Johnny! SCX10 II Mojave

First Hopups arrived... and robbed the SSD TK kit for the shocks.
I just can’t stand the plastic ones.

Now i’m stuck till the mod19 stuff get delivered...

Here‘s Johnny! SCX10 II Mojave

I did it again and robbed the aluminum knuckles from the SSD kit...
And build the SSD Axles for fun.
Nice fitting and a couple of spare screws&bearings are included as well.

You can not be a sea shepherd and building RC Trucks at the same time!

...got to pick up some others

Re: Here‘s Johnny! SCX10 II Mojave

Two steps forward, three steps backwards...

The mod19 parts from Shapeways delivered today and the transmission as well...
But it turns out, that the RC4WD cage is crooked, so it has to go back!
Think i’m done with this brand...

So i changed direction and build the Hilux as a casual Pick-Up.

Kind a like the long bed!

Did anyone have a good advice to measure up where to cut the bed for the shocks?

Re: Here‘s Johnny! SCX10 II Mojave

Is this molding mark normal?
Don’t know how to call this in english...

Re: Here‘s Johnny! SCX10 II Mojave

Love the body, good choice. Looks like you've got a really good start. Good build.

Made a little progress with the Truggy version...

Grille is going to be black/chrome.
Funny thing is, that the Body with the Bed fits perfectly. But the back panel for the half cab, fits not at all! Way to wide in the lower section.

Left one is trimmed...
