And in the mean time the 3500kv choice stomps the snot out of anything slightly slower when it comes down to brass tacks of performance on the trail.

we did a drag race the other day:
3300kv Stubby on 2S with a 12 or 13t pinion (I am fairly certain it was 13)
3500kv Standard on 3S with a 10t pinion (mine)

The 3500 on 3S won. Not by much, and it was a short race starting on paving stones for about 10ft then into snow covered grass.

I went with the volt up, gear down method. My truck is more than fast enough for playing around and crawling.

Just got the XL 3500 fired up in Roo's Yeti, and all I can say is holy guacamole!!! I'm quite sure it could rip a small house off its foundation with the right tires and a rope strong enough, and the top end is insane. Well done, sir!

It was 13t. I always have to option to swap a battery and spank that ass though...2S keeps me form breaking stuff...although I keep getting more stuff anyways so I'm not sure where the benefit of my plan is...

It is a nice motor. And ESC. And Spools. And BEC. And BEC harness...I don't think you guys make much more stuff for it...servo but you didn't have the 500 out yet.

I am totally happy with the power of my 3300 Stubby. I know it kills Antikid not to have crushed me with his full size motor...

The only thing he needs is gearing or voltage to beat you, the 540 will push a 4x4 stampede to 60mph pretty easy.

Let me just say, I'm a complete noob to the hobby. A hobby that has a million directions with 2 million ways to be stirred the wrong ways(B&M stores like to sell twice) to a new comer.

It didn't take long for me to decide on a motor and I chose the 540 XL 3500 Not only because of the referrals from actual users at this forum but because of HH's online support. Especially their active roll in the community.

Truly a lost service in today's day and age.

Recommendation for pinion gearing for my yeti...put the puller pro xl 3500kv running the robinson slipper 56t will be using a 3s 5000mah 35c lipo not sure what tooth pinion to use? Thanks

I would start with a 14T to give you the same ratio as the stock 64/16 then adjust from there if you want it faster or slower. I haven't changed from 56/14 since I like the overall performance.

Thinking of switching to the puller pro 3300kv stubby in both my scx and wraith...they both currently have 3100kv brushless and both on 2s...wraith is geared 14/56 and scx 12/56..will i need to change any gearing or am i ok running what i have? Thanks

I have a question for you. All things being equal. Would I get better low speed resolution out of a stubby 2200 or 3300? Same 3s voltage and gearing.

The short answer is yes and no, as startup speed is the same for both- but the % motor rpm change per % throttle position change is greater for higher kv.

The same speed will take more throttle feathering with a faster motor, so if you don't change gearing then you will lose resolution in relation of trigger to wheelspeed. But minimum startup speed is still there, it just takes finesse and skill to utilize a wider wheelspeed range.

Alternatively, gear down the 3300 so your wheelspeed is like a 2200. In this scenario, you take back the trigger to wheelspeed resolution and also improve minimum startup speed at the tire. It's the equivalent of volt up gear down.

Ok silly question maybe..

Currently have two rigs I'm building, or rebuilding.

A 1.9 solid steel frame u4 style rig (hackalac) and a 1.9 scx lightweight class 2.

I originally picked up a stubby 2200 and a BLE for the u4 rig, and thought I could just run on 3 and 4s depending on senarios..

For the lightweight scx, was looking at the mamba micro x. The size is attractive and I do t see myself needing more than 3s and the 2200. I'm used to running your brushed stuff so I feel like this is a natural crossover. And let's be honest, saving a few bucks won't hurt 8)

Was considering ordering the mamba and a 3300 regular as a combo and landing on a 2200 stubby/mamba micro x combo in the light weight, and putting the BLE and 3300 in the u4 rig and just sticking to 3s.

Either way I need another motor and esc, the scx will be a class 2 rig, the other one will be more of a basher/ fun crawler, so wheel speed isn't going to be a bad thing.

Or should I stick to the original plan, use 4s on the heavy rig, and just get another 2200 stubby and a mamba micro for the scx?

I should note I have a lot more 3s packs than 4s, so that's kind of in my thought process, but not a deal breaker either.

You could run a 3300 on 3s and 4s for racing too. Either way sounds like a good plan. I would lean towards the faster moter, it will be more flexible and give you some perspective on choices.
