Projects

I know Jason told me he was trying a different driving concept this season, he's going to drive with his eyes open and see if that helps.....:lmao:

I think he should be sure to bring his son to every comp. His coaching seems to work well for Jason..."YOU SUCK!" :ror:

I took my "go fast" apart and used my spare parts to build an Axial based shafty. It crawls pretty damn good. I have a few things I want to try and since Losi parts are getting hard to find sometimes, this is the result. I'll post more detailed photos later.

11 1/2" front
11 1/4" rear

I did this cause I was bored with the go fast but this thing really performs. I might try it at a comp, don't know. Just like to tinker with these things. Sid drove it tonight and either he's improving as a driver or the rig just works. Probably both...."thumbsup"

that's close to a half inch on the wide side of things up front...but not ridiculous. If you could pick up a set of RCBros knuckle weights for it and use a set of the DE Racing plastic wheels you could set the width narrower and lose weight at the same time. Of course if it's working for you as it sits...dismiss my rambling :ror:

Good suggestions. The XR wheels are all I have at the time so that's why they're there. Plus I can use the VP weights with them that I've had forever. It is a little heavy at 5.4lbs, but that's close to what I am used to driving. It needed a little more weight in the front than the Losi for some reason. Maybe because of the ultra large and heavy MMP esc that's in it. By the way, you got a good 27 to 35 turn brushed motor you want to sell? I've got the Tekin 17.5 brushless in it now (had the 13.5 in it but it was too damn fast). I have a spare FXR and want to use that because of size, but need something faster than a 45 turn. The drag brake situation is what is so different about driving this compared to the Losi. Other than that, they perform close to the same.

Spent some time painting the boat this weekend among everything else I had going on...

Now it matches our Harley, wife's Explorer, and my Super Duty 8)

Almost there thank you bill for an great job on paint! When I get it back add a few decals and gauges and such than plaster it with a few coats of clear coat.

Got bored the other night and fabbed up the FMIC to the Skyline. Not the best job by any means, but it will do the trick for now. "thumbsup"

Looks like I will have to get my next body painted up by Master Bill! :ror:

As usual I couldn't be satisfied with the "stock" version of something so I also had to have the aftermarket version with the 28mm impeller vs. the stock 19mm. This one is gonna be all sorts of rock hopping fun.

I dont know what is going on with my SCX10 Huncho. I have a new (stock) ESC from thurayt, after running it for a 10-15min the motor gets very very hot (27T) and it will lose power. any ideas about what is going on?

The transmission moves freely, no binding at all from motor to wheels

all the connection are deans, and have a wireless winch thing. I found a thread some there on here that said to clean the brushes because they get build up of dirt make them hot and have high resistance, so i cleaned them and put some oil on them, ran the truck again and didn't get hot just worm. so i hope this will fix it.

When its time to get another motor what will be the best choice?

I would look into some of the vendors on the forums, their custom hand wound motors are talked up to be the best! I am running a Traxxas Titan 12T right now, have a nice motor waiting to go in soon! I picked up the 12T new for less than 20$ at the LHS and the good hound wound`s can be a bit more. Always good to have one with bullets soldered for backup too..:ror:

Which motor is it you're running? If it's one of the stock motors it's probably at the end of it's lifespan. If it's an aftermarket motor you should be sure that the endbell hasn't been clocked and thrown your timing way off. How long are your brushes at this point...a picture would probably be the best way to see what you've got for this.

As far as motors in scalers go it's all about what you intend to do with your rig. Do you want to go fast, do you want to have really good low speed control, do you plan to submerge it on a regular basis, etc?
