Pics of your latest purchase

Harbor Freight runs are always fun. The closest one to my house used to be over 30 minutes away, but it was close to my dad's house. Then they built one 20 minutes from me. Now there is a HF 5 minutes from my girlfriend's house. On one trip, she actually bought more than I did because she bought containers to store her hundreds of pairs of earrings. When they say girls like shoes and jewelry, mine doesn't mess around and she easily has over a hundred pairs of earrings and over a hundred pairs of shoes! 😲 But I like it because she can't say anything about my toys! 😁

Anyway...I love Harbor Freight's Pittsburgh 5 in. Micro Flush Cutter for removing plastic parts from sprue trees. This time I decided to try the way more expensive Doyle 5 in. Precision Flush Cutter. It seems sharper, but TBD. The extension cord is for my Ryobi hybrid radio that can be powered by a battery or plugging into the wall. Pittsburgh 4-1/2" Diagonal Cutters because you can never have too many and a metal ruler to use as a straight edge. I used to have a metal ruled straight edge that was about 6" long and roughly .125" thick and I loved it. Can't find anything like it that is reasonably priced. I'll see how I like this cheapie.

The Harbor Freight by me used to be 30 minutes away in a real crappy, run-down shopping center. They opened a new one about 15 minutes away that is much nicer, larger, and better stocked so the trips have become more frequent.

Oh yeah! The first time my dad took me to a Harbor Freight, probably nearly two decades ago now, I was like WTH is this :poop:-hole selling already broken tools?! They have come such a long way since then. Their toolboxes, IMO, are some of the best for the money. And some of the tools are good stuff. Harbor Freight has become the new Sears/Craftsman for tools. Buy local and when you break one or need a warranty replacement, you just head to the local store. No questions asked. Very nice.

the last time i went to harbor freight i had a coopon called the store made sure the stuff was in stock asked to make sure the coupon was good for the item i was trying to buy and the store manager sead all was good i got there and the managers sead they wouldent honer the coupon mother flunkers 3 hours drive to get told they wouldent honer the coupon then had to drive home so i dont go in there stores anymore you can get most of there branded items elsewhere for less so

but there hand tool warranty is great better than craftsman now days and the same chinese crap but with a different name if bought elsewhere they font come with the warranty but its still gonna take a lot to get me to go back after that last round with them

Back in the day we didn't have one locally but I'd frequently get the flyers in the mail and man, it all looked like the cheapest/ worst crap. Then some years later on my Jeep forum, a thread was created... "What Harbor Freight tools have you used that don't suck?" lol. Over the years the thread kept building. The Daytona line of floor jacks/ stands kept coming up along with more and more in-house brands.

Finally they built a HF here just about 2-3 mins away. One of the first "bigger ticket" items I purchased was their Pittsburgh electric chainsaw to replace my aging gas McCulloch. Gotta say that I've put this little thing through hell and it's never skipped a beat. These days I check HF before heading to Lowe's or HD. I've bought HF wrenches, hand tools, drill bits, batteries, etc, etc and never had any issues with anything. Couple weeks ago I broke down and bought their 20v Bauer leaf-blower ( incl battery/ charger) and so far it's been great.

EDIT> Craftsman brand these days is not even close to what they once were... I used to specifically buy Craftsman back in the Sears storefront days... not anymore... same Chinese as the rest.

3-hour drive? Yeah that sucks. I'd be pissed too. Not every store is going to be a good one.

The only place I know of where you can get HF tools cheaper is on the second-hand market. Do you know of other sources?

HF hand tools are nice depending on which tier you buy. Their different brands are more like different levels of quality or tiers with Icon being at the top. I don't have much Icon stuff. I like their ratchet that I have. But I have to say Icon stuff looks nicer than my brand new Snap-On combination wrenches. See the photos below. I was so pissed when those arrived in the mail. My dad's decades old Snap-On wrenches are my favorite. Combination wrench perfection. The ones I got in the mail have sloppier fit and you can see they look like garbage. Snap-On went down the crapper for sure.

Oh yeah the current Craftsman sucks unless it is rebranded Kobalt stuff. They make some nice stuff. Husky makes some nice tools too, but there's something about the look and feel of Husky that I don't love.

Genuine wrenches ordered directly from Snap-On.

Picked up a circular saw from marketplace. I don't do a lot of wood work but I've had a few recent projects (like the shelves I posted in another thread) so I figured it was time to get one. I've had to borrow a friend's saw up to now.

3 yards of crete for 10.2 x 16.2 x 6 inch thick pad.

Then today my buddy got done setting block.

Building a Mechanical Room. Going to be moving my Water Heater and New Furnace in here, to create about 10 sq foot of floor space into my bathroom so I can Remodel it and have a bit more room.

Been thinking about getting a Heat Pump. House is not set of A/C, so going with a HP may save some LP until it really cold, and a HP is much more efficient than a standard A/C unit.

I’d be curious to know how accurate that GPS tracker is.
It took about 5 minutes for it to first find a signal. 30 seconds the second. It doesn't really do well at 0-3 mph and only seems to start displaying at 3, but i had it hand in hand while using the onewheel and its speedometer on the app. The $6 gps was showing the same speed or within 1-2 mph difference. Good enough for a small go kart, etc.

Saw this at autozone, and just had to have it. Came in handy later that day

Like i need a hole in my head, I picked up another project. This time it's a HPI super nitro rally, thats missing a few small bits. Screenshot_20240918_221546_eBay.jpg
I dont intend to run it in its former nitro glory form. From what i can see, its missing the center driveline, the rear shock tower, rear dogbones, and the body mount. Screenshot_20240918_221458_eBay.jpg
All parts I have in a spare parts bin, and now I'll have 3 of them. Nice thing was, I paid less for this than a set of arms for these go nowadays.Screenshot_20240919_095149_AliExpress.jpg
Also ordered up the brakes/calipers for something in the works.

Found this neat fabric while perusing wallyworld. 20240922_221629.jpg
I figured i can cut the fabric into strips with a row of plates lined up. Then take some clear paint and turn the fabric into a sheet and cut out each plate. Or take a strip and fasten it to some aluminum sheet with clear paint, then cut each out individually.
