Optic Kit Coming

$300 to walk in. Comical. I was gonna check it out, but passed on that door price.
I assume this is an industry show, not a consumer show. Meant for dealers which either can justify $300 for doing business or they get a much reduced entrance fee by being part of the group putting on the show.

The $300 is doing exactly what it's supposed to and keeping Joe-schmo consumer from attending.

The exhibitors aren't trying to sell one or two units to each person they talk to. They are trying to sell large quantities to hobby shops, etc.

And yes, if the prototype is a secret, it shouldn't be set out for general viewing regardless of who attends. Only shown to people on a confidential basis. So the "leak" was either intentional or being naive.

Thanks, and I am aware of this. We attend many trade shows during the year as exhibitors. It's a toy show, not SEMA or SHOT. $300 for a toy show is comical. And if they are selling tickers, it's a consumer show. Shows like SHOT, you cannot buy tickets for unless you are in the industry.

The funny part here is that a kit was leaked, then VP said no, no, no there is no kit. You must buy the RTR. So everyone did, and then a kit comes out. The aspects of the show are irrelevant. Ya all are being played as fools. VP should have fessed up, but they did you all dirty.

We all knew a kit was coming, we just did not know when. I've contacted manufacturers in other industries and asked them about a rumored product. They denied that said product was in development, then it was released soon after. That tactic is not limited to RC.

The only panels I would really not want would be the yellow. Even then I'd just spray them with some Krylon Fusion and roll.

Agreed. I would say it is not a popular decision. I have a feeling I will get a certain fugly color that is the color of my second-least-favorite motorcycle brand. There are really only 3 of the 6 colors that look good to me. The 7th mystery carbon fiber panels are amazing! There's nothing cooler than carbon fiber! I don't think I could put them on and scratch them on the rocks though.
LMK if you get that Kawie green I might buy it at a greatly discounted price.

I'm still laughing at the changing story line after the leak..... Super spy stuff...:afro:
I get the impression Josh is so proud of his 'no leak' record that he would sooner deny and lie than concede ...he is the kid sitting in front of the tv with crumbs on his pants but insists he didn't eat any cookies... lol
In contrast, his VP coworkers seem pretty open to both leaking plans and taking cues from the chat forum on their live stream. I am not sure if this is the case because they couldn't care less about keeping secrets or if they are amused by how the prospect of leaks makes Josh itch.

This is EXACTLY what happened. haha. I'm glad I sold my rtr weeks before this came out.

Didn't get the rtr.
I think the unknown livery/color option is a nice twist, given the season and time of release. It does hiccup plans for buying wheels if you're into that much color matching so the drapes are matching the curtains. lol

Personally, It's all wet inside so whatever panels arrive, I'm good with, though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't really hoping to get the Virgin Variant of CF Panels. lol

But really, with the number of people that part out on Fleabay, you'll be able to get the panels you want with in a week or 3 of them shipping. Someone will be parting them out on fleabay hoping to get a set of the CF Panels to sell no doubt.

Pre-Order was put in last night.

Cool! You ordered direct as well. AMain allows a $30 off coupon. It's the only place I've found that has the preorder and allows coupons. I'm tempted to order a second there and see which ships first...
I ordered from Vanquish because I panicked as soon as I saw that the kit was released. I didn't want to miss the first round of deliveries. Many learned that lesson with the VRD Carbon Kit release. Had no clue that Amain had them with the coupons. Now I'm kicking myself for not doing some research first!😕 Oh well, I guess I earned some more Vanquish bucks!

I did see on the social that you picked one up as well.(y)

I also ordered one. Now I'll have two. 😂
Nice! A pair is better than one!

And did I see on the social that you also picked up VRD Carbon chassis kit? I grabbed one while he still had them available. Pretty good deal at $55 bucks!

Yes I did. Planning on using it on my straight axle build. Pretty good price for what he sent.

I, ahem love how "happy" the kits livery look(s), lol, that, and you get what you get and you dont throw a fit! What kind of shit is that?

I mean, is it really a better buy as a kit?

I'm sure some hobby shops will order 10-20 kits.
Everybody pull together and make a list of the box numbers and which version they have. Then go pick the 1 you want.

Its $110 less than the RTR and you get machined hardened steel ring & pinions (and spools), aluminum bearing retainers, aluminum standoffs, aluminum motor plate. Thats ~$100 worth of axle upgrades and ~$80 in transmission upgrades. Considering most of us toss the stock electronics and tires and wheels and then add upgrades, I'd say yes, a kit is worth buying.

Which servo is everybody going to use??? It seems like a lower profile servo would be beneficial to the center of gravity.

True about it being a vendor show, but it has to be tiny in comparison to a 1:1 car show or something like that. I wonder how much it costs for a ticket to get into SEMA.

That's not fair to say this is limited to Vanquish. Every company I've seen will deny leaks until they are ready to announce the product on their end. Also, I don't think there was anybody in the hobby that didn't think an H10 kit was coming.

I get the impression Josh is so proud of his 'no leak' record that he would sooner deny and lie than concede ...he is the kid sitting in front of the tv with crumbs on his pants but insists he didn't eat any cookies... lol

It is a weird thing for Josh to hold onto and a weird dichotomy within the VP employees.

Didn't get the rtr.

The CF panels are going to sell for more than the price of the RTR in my estimation if people know what they have.

I posted it on a previous page in this thread, but easy to miss since this thread is moving quickly (which is a good thing).

Yep I am excited for this one! I have been holding out. Now my Christmas list is mostly parts for the H10 kit. I know which motor/ESC I'm using (Fusion Pro 2300kv), but I need to figure out a servo. Seems like low-profile would help keep the center of gravity somewhat lower.

Nice! A pair is better than one!

Who was selling the CF rails for $55?

People can't have differing opinions? Strange...

The kit is better equipped and you don't have to pay for electronics you aren't going to use anyway...

They are claiming the SKUs are identical and therefore the boxes should be as well. The claim from Vanquish is there is no way to tell what is inside without opening the box.

Nope, still an industry/retailer show, not a consumer show even if they sell tickets.

First off, nrhsa website clearly talks of it as for hobby shops, to build business, etc.

They sell $300 tickets so that someone interested in starting a hobby shop and wants to do some investigatory work, make contacts, set up accounts with vendors, learn about margins in the industry, etc can go meet face to face with companies and figure stuff out. This is exactly how my father began when he opened his bicycle store in the early 90s. Sure a lot more can be done via the Internet now, but there is still value in the face to face or this show wouldn't exist.

In the dieing days of Interbike (former bicycle tradeshow in the USA) they started opening the show for a day to the general public with more normally priced tickets. It allowed vendors to hide things like prototypes and pricelists. Interbike is no more but there are still tradeshows in Europe (which has separate consumer days) and Taiwan.

Well I ordered one. As of now, the plan is to put my Phoenix portal drivetrain on the cage I bought for myself. That will eventually be 4WS. I'll build this one stock for my son. Already got everything needed to make it run sitting here.

I planned on getting a Reefs 800LP.
But...
Today on the Reefs Livestream, they announced they were going to put up some "Reefs Bundles"
a Micro Bundle 100.00 get 150+ of Micro Gear.
A Pro Bundle 150.00 get 250+ of 1/10th Gear.
A Ultimate Bundle 300.00 Get 400+ of 1/10th gear.

When they mentioned the bundles, I stated one should be a good fit for the H10 Kit I have coming, and Reefs said the Ultimate Kit would likely be a great "Bundle" for the H10 kit.

SO I ordered an Ultimate Bundle. Should be here next Tuesday/Wednesday so I wont know what I get till then.
Hoping for a LP800 or a pair of them, and a set of wheels would be killer.
Or the LP900 and a winch servo and a set of rims...

I'll do a Bundle Unboxing when it gets here on my Youboob channel "These Old Flappin' Lips".
Keep your eyes open if you are interested in what is in the bundles. Reefs (not sure of his first name) also said the bundles are different in each category so not all are the same.
He also said if they sell well (Ultimate Bundle seemed to sell out in about 15 minutes as they had 25 of each I think he said) they'll do another bundle sale Black Friday Next week, and again just before Christmas.

At any rate. It'll have a Reefs though unsure what they're sending. lol

Jato, I'm all for differences in opinions. HOWEVER, I want to choose my "happy" kit, not a random bs lottery "you get what you get" stuffed down your throat. I like the carbon fiber deal, that one looks cool.
