No Drift Winch Controller! (using 3 position transmitter channel)

Most likely. I Have to say it like that because when I google a rc4wd winch, one of the pictures that comes back shows three wires going to the motor which indicates that it is brushelss. My winch controller only works with brushed motors. Brushed motors have two wires going to them and are very common on a winch while brushless motors on a winch are very uncommon.

This is the old style, I believe they are all brushed now. I think the model was the 9500, now 9300.

I have the 2 position swith and on the center signal wire i added a on off swith, to stop the signal. Sorry i have a hard time explaing things

That was clearer, thank you!
I'm guessing that it won't work, but maybe if you can supply more details it might help. What transmitter are you modifying?

You can actually give this a try: Plug a servo into CH3 on your receiver (use your steering servo if you don't have another one handy).
Activate your modified switch and see what happens.

I have a question Al. I installed my 3 position winch controller I got in the mail yesterday and all seemed great, until my brother in law turned on his ax-3 radio, my winch would sputter in bursts of 3 creeping in, and then pause, then it would repeat. I didn't know what was going on until I heard my winch line snap and my hook fell to te ground. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help!

nevermind, i rewired it to get the winch to spool out when i press up on my aux button on the dx3de and in when i press down, and its working as normal! i think i may have pinched a wire when fitting it in! Classic case of user error! this thing is awesome! thanks again!

Glad you got it sorted out!

Sorry for the delay in hearing from me. Just got back from holiday last night.

I have a RC4WD bulldog 2 wire winch with the RC4wd controller. I had a Rc4wd 4 channel radio that I was using and the winch worked fine other then the creeping I had to adjust every time I powered up and I know this controller will fix that problem. Now I have switched to a Spektrum DX4S with a SR410 receiver still have the creep but that's not my main issue. With the new radio if I operate the winch it will sit and jitter. Power off power on all is fine again until I operate the winch then it sits and jitters. My question is will this fix my jitter? I want one anyway if you can pm your paypal info.
Thanks Mike

By the way the winch works fine while operating this is just a problem when stopped

Hi Mike,
Yes, this controller should fix you up!
I will send you a PM so that you can get your part(s) ordered.
Al

Got it today, installed, works great fixed my problem no more JITTER! You're the man keyok. For anyone else using a DX4S I don't know if it's just the way I progammed my radio but I had to change my subtrim to H50 to use this controller otherwise it only worked in one direction. I have it set up aux1 on switch A and I have to hold in either direction to use the winch center is neutral. Took me a few minutes to figure out because this radio is smarter then me. Hopefully this might help someone in the future.

Small Question. Why if I shut my radio off with the truck on the winch takes off in one direction?

Because the winch is still powered but not being told not to move by the remote.
ALWAYS unplug your lipo first then turn the radio off.

I have a few Solar D772 Servos converted into winches. One works great, no creeping. The other creeps no matter what I do!!! I've got it on a switch now so it doesn't unspool..
Long story short, Heyok what do you recommend for a no drift controller? I've got a hacked GT3B so i can use the 3 button switch. I run at 7.2 volts on my bec, but would like the ability to go up to 8.4 if I choose.
Any recommendations? I'll try PMing you also, if this isn't the right place for a questions like this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I replied to your PM, but I will answer here too as others might have the same question.

The winch controller described in this thread is great for up to 6 volts.

To go a higher voltage than 6 volts, use either the HV controller (good for 2S Lipo voltage)
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/vend...-15-2012-higher-voltage-winch-controller.html

Or even better is to use the 4 amp relay output winch controller that will operate at even higher voltages
