New Toyota FJ body scaler

Tower had this listed as late September for a while. I thought maybe we'd see it in a month. But they just pushed back to mid October.

Anyone in manufacturing know how long it takes to get through production & to the distributors once the production appointment starts? I'm betting that HPI doesn't even have a production appointment for this thing.

October?! So it went from HPI saying the trucks would be delivered by the end of summer and now we're into mid October? At this point I don't believe we'll see them in October.

Once again, HPI shows us that they are completely lost. They promised they were going to change and not be the HPI of old. Guess what. They haven't learned their lesson. They're repeating the exact same mistakes and they are still the HPI of old.

This truck isn't going to be a big success even if they release it tomorrow. The were beat to the market by Traxxas. They had a HUGE opening when Axial was out of stock everywhere and Traxxas was nowhere to be seen. They had their window. They had their one shot and they blew it.

I will not be surprised one bit if HPI closes up shop in the next year or two. You can't run a company like this.

Re: New Venture RC/HPI Toyota FJ body scaler

They had many windows, but blew away all of them. When they first teased this truck it was desember 2015. Five months before the scx10 2 was released. Many hoped it would be released in January/February, if they had managed to get it out by then it would had a 3-4 months head start before the scx10 2 was released. And at that time it was just scx10 and Ascender that had the majority of the market.
But if they get it out now. There is so many other new trucks on the market that they will never have a boom sale when released. The scx10 2, MST 10 and 8 scale trucks, Traxxas T-Rex, pluss there have come a bunch of new axle offerings to upgrade the old scx10s and Ascenders. So will there be a place for them in the market? I'm not sure. I was pretty excited at first when we saw the internals of the Venture, cus it looked like it was much more appealing to scale builders than the scx10 2, due to a front engine setup that left much room for detailed hardbodies with interiors. But now I my interest has deflated due to loss of faith in HPI. And that I'm pretty pleased with the MST CFX instead of the venture. It got nice 10 scale axles and a front motor setup that leaves lot of room for other stuff. A really nice platform for many good things.

You're one of the most upbeat, positive members on here. To hear you say something like this is really sad.

It's safe to say this particular truck will never ever happen. And if it did we'd still have to worry about parts support. So yeah, canceled it and doubled down on an X-Maxx. I kinda went the opposite direction.

Not sure if anyone has seen these, but they look like they might be new to the site.....

Looks like it could be the same exact body?

Those bodies are unlicensed and very, very wrong. Lol

It would be a shame if all that design & engineering went to waste. Couldn't they sell the idea & engineering to another company?
From watching a few Kickstarter campaigns come to successful fruition (Marauder's Task Force & Valkyries, Boss Fight Studios' Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S.), it seems that most of the hard work is in getting the thing designed, engineered, & perfectly opperating so that tools & molds can be made for manufacturing. H.P.I. Seems to have that done, they just can't get a manufacturing appointment. I bet that has to do with their shit credit. So why not sell the platform to someone with the credit & facilities to get this thing out.

HPI just updated their web-page with a whole lot of info on the Venture.

I think this thing is actually going to happen!

This is exciting, but I have a hard time believing this truck will get much love, especially from the aftermarket, since it's been delayed and now the TRX-4 is all new the rage.

If I remember right, the original AX10 ring & pinion set came from the HPI Wheely King. If HPI used the same dimensions on the Venture's ring & pinion, then there should be some ready to-go upgrades there.
The way the axles are designed looks like an easy swap back & forth with 3/4 links & leafs.
The transfer case leaves plenty of room for interiors. Plus this isn't as complex as the TRX-4.
Since HPI is still good with Tower & Traxxas isn't, I'm betting that it should recover & do well.

The Venture axles have a pumpkin that looks too big so it could be the AX10 gears.

Yes, let's hope they are moving forward to smaller axle pumpkins with more ground clearance!

Let's hope they are smaller than those giant OG gears. "thumbsup"
