As I see it you complain about " bolt ons" but from your build 90% of it is bolt ons. Fabrication is a dime a dozen, ok let's see you put out quality parts such as dmg,r2j and the likes. Exactly you can't. Don't hate on us cause we can fabricate or braze or what have you. Dude you contradict everything you say two posts later. Oh and by the way why would you recommend people run 32 pitch gears for 20-27-35 turn brushed motors when you are supposed to be all about budget. On top of it all the parts you are buying are bottom of the barrel overseas parts. Why not support our vendors here?

What part of its just not about the bolts on you don't get?..I never said I didn't use bolts ons..Sorry but I restored corvettes and thunderbirds for 10yrs and know plenty enough about fabrication if needed...Hard to get parts sometimes for those classics and you have to make what you have work or make it yourself..If you read my post at the top you would see I have supported them and have plans to support more of them in the future..hence my whats in the future for my honcho build I showed..

I don't have a lot tools to fabricate anymore but don't think I cant

Seems to be the thing to go 32P for 3s isn't it?..or maybe I should just say that's stupid and 48p works just fine????..Give you guys something else to troll on me for maybe.???..I don't have anything against fabrication like I don't adding parts or someone using a 3s battery..Again those who say those stupid things are getting inside your heads and you all just repeat the BS they say.

By the way my 20 dollar integy cvd axles are doing just fine...Sorry I haven't needed to do a write up on how they broke and are the biggest piece of crap axles made..maybe one day when they wear out I can tell people how they worked for me for x amount of time...But we all know if I buy VP axles they will never break or wear out..last pair of axles I would ever have buy the rest of my life or the trucks life right???

And I don't complain about bolt ons..I complained about morons tellin a noob he should buy the most expensive servo and and VP links and whatever else they DONT NEED driving around the back yard at grandpas house..never said upgrades aren't good..just not the best of the best is needed to have a great performing truck and it be reliable as long as you don't drive it like a moron.

In all honesty I see nothing wrong with the OP,s build...Its what he wanted and could afford or maybe just didn't figure he needed to spend more...If it works for him then im happy for him.
But we all know this thread was made to start more BS so you guys can have your laughs..Well hahahahahahahahahaha funny man funny..youre cool now.

I still stand by I wouldn't be scared to run beside that rig on any terrain or many others builds on here...Does that make me an ass hole because im confident??

Sorry I don't go around and tell people what I really feel about some builds but guess what..im not an asshole like you guys make me out to be and most of you are...I would be content with just doing my own thing and being left alone...if you don't like my builds don't read them...If you find me saying my 2s and stock 27T makes more power than a tekin 412 on a 4s then youre welcome to step in and call BS because it would be BS..But I don't do that and i try to help as many people as I can..if I don't know something I simply don't respond to a thread or make up BS to make it seem like I know something...You people need to get off my nuts and go about your own business

fabrication is a dime a dozen

Maybe you might be the "fabricator extraordinaire", but some of us don't have the skills, specialized tools and equipment, time, or money to spend trying to make parts and make them perfect. Have you seen some of the homemade parts on a lot of these rigs? They look like shit. That being said, I will continue to spend money on professionally made aftermarket parts. And if they make a part that will help me gain some better performance, and people who already have it say it works, I'm damn well going to buy one too. So yeah, guess I'm one of those "followers on here who know nothing but to spend money"

I mentioned I don't have the tools to fabricate a lot of things but that I can fabricate..And I agree a lot of it looks like junk ive seen on here as well.

Its not just about the fabricating though or the parts you put on your truck that makes it a good performing truck..Understanding more than just bolting on parts is important to the performance of a truck if youre going to build it yourself..Rather you start out with a kit or an rtr makes no difference..I guess a lot are to going to put themselves in the follower category and to be honest I am to to an extent as having learned some things on here I did to my truck as well..so if the truth hurts im sorry..but its a fact.,,Dont take it to heart.

My gripe is with some saying you need a 500oz servo and nothing less will hold up to scale rig...Well you know what...maybe a rig that weighs 10lbs and has the more than realistic steering in them to get through a gate without getting point penalties then maybe they are right...But a noob that is just getting started with a budget cant spend 150 dollars for a servo and 125 dollars for the all mighty titanium links...So many have taken my views with a sour apple and don't like it..I don't care if they like it or not..Im not here to tell a professional how to build his rig..Im just trying to help noobs and maybe even some long time rc enthusiasts new to this area of rc as I am..but im not sorry that I don't buy the whole spend all you can BS for me and some others..Like I said ive been there and done that with owning the best in rc racing..Fun part for me was winning with a lot less than I had in the past..The Hitec HS985MG was the best at one time for hitec and I still have Many servos ive had for years and years and one is on my truck now...Sorry I don't want to spend the money for a servo I don't need and a lot of others don't need and that goes for a lot of parts I see recommended to a school kid with his first rc...So either you understand me or you don't.

I don't need the BS from the trolls because im trying to show people something that they may not have known or understood or considered or whatever...I just put it up in a thread and they can ask questions and try it or they can shrug it off and buy or do what they want..I give no one grief for making their decision like I get from the trolls.

If I give some bad information and someone can prove why it was bad info then im fine with constructive criticism and being corrected. ...Problem is it comes in the form of insults and BS statements to make me look bad and then the followers jump in not knowing anything but what the buddies are saying and run with it to fit in...They can call me what they want and say what they want...I know who I am and im proud to be who I am..No one has to like it...I sleep just fine when I do and go about my day/night doing what ive always done..Be me

Looking forward to the day you actually fabricate something interesting and worthwhile before deleting the 'build' thread...so far it been nothing but empty promises, cry baby antics, and a know-it-all attitude.

Yea I know...those brackets I made you showed interest in having asked to see them are still holding up..They have been for a while now..made those by hand..no cnc machines..just a mini rotory tool and fabrication experience.. or maybe you wanted to see them because you thought I was liar and didn't make any???.I like your new custom super duty no flex slider/skid enhancement thing a ma jigs..Id probably just buy an integy aluminum skid though..does the same thing with taking out flex and probably a lot less money..But im sure it would just fall apart with the big top fuel power you have so ill think about it for my future wraith with 2s power.

But yours are made in America so its going to be worth it at any price.

Should ask 500 dollars for the kit..If they want the best they gotta pay for it...go for the gold"thumbsup"

can mig weld..tig weld..built roll cages in cars..built 4 links set ups and chassis for drag cars as an apprentice...also built custom pieces for car restorations..So yea I can fabricate man..The fact if I did show you my work you would just snicker with an attitude im sure that you can do it to which is quite possible..I was taught and proud I learned how to do it the way I was taught..Dont worry..you wont see any of it..its nothing you haven't seen before so doing a build thread with it would be useless...just more fuel for the trolls.

I don't cnc either.

I guess what gripes my ass even more than your attitude towards us is that you don't run your truck. Climbing the rocks by your stairs is cute. Most of us that have commented and most of the active members run our rigs regularly with our clubs and across clubs. We compete with each other in Comps, Scale Comps, GTGS, TTC and G6s. We push our rigs and we work hard FINE TUNING them.

You continuously insinuate that all we do is buy VP parts and hang them on our rigs. You don't listen to nor pay attention to the hours spent working wheel/Tire/Foam combinations, Dual foam, closed foam, etc. The spring rate and rebound work on the springs. The CoG. The suspension angles and bends in the links. The gearing/motor combos. Even the shaft angles. Getting the electronic and wiring right and under control. When we do this, and then compete, we learn what does and does not work for our rigs, weights, power and driving skills/styles. Then we do it all over again.

I am a relative new comer to RCC, I came from nitro boats and track racing. I have been here a little over 3.5 years. I have had 12 rigs and built 10 of them. My first was a RTR Honcho with just a couple basic changes to adjust CoG. Then I went to an event and munched the servo. Then the motor, then the ESC, then an axle. Each of them taught me something about tuning and building bullet proof.

Most of the guys that find your antics so amusing have similar stories and I have competed with a few of them.

Read, do your research and see what you can learn from us. If you find something that you don't agree with, do it your way and go out and bang your ride. when it doesn't work, man up and tell us. We sure as hell do. But if it works, SHOW us how it worked. Don't tell us that your 2 sell and POS 27T are kissing ass, show us the truck stomping a mud run, a big hill climb, a rock ledge, etc.

Show us something like this:

RC Crawlers at The Cliffs - YouTube

These guys can show you some unbelievable runs on their rigs.

But all that assumes that you read and try to understand where we are coming from and not get your panties in a twist again.

I do and have read a lot of builds with some tech in them..youre right though I don't compete with my rig..But why do I have to compete to have a good performing rig???..Ive seen a lot of comp videos and I know ive run the same terrain and in some cases harder terrain than ive seen..I have many videos of my truck in the play ground none of you have seen and probably never will with the attitudes I get..So I know where you are coming from..i too come from racing as ive mentioned many times...Had boats too..electric ones with 4s power and stuff..yes I know nitro as well...enough that people came to me for engine mods and tuning and maintenance..So maybe we have similar backgrounds with rc...maybe we don't..But I get what your saying..No one gets what IM saying.

But I get what your saying..No one gets what IM saying.

No, I think you are wrong. We get what your saying but you cannot talk about a better performing rig that doesn't get tested. driving it around you playground with out a comparison rig is meaning less but can be fun. If that lis what you are shooting for, have at it. But you cannot compare your rigs to ours till you have put them on the ground beside ours. We have all done that. JohnnyH66, CrawlinMike, BadHoopty and I have all done that together in lost of varying terrain with both good and bad results and we have all learned more, IMHO, in these runs that we EVER could have in our backyard or even going to challenging terrain by ourselves.

Keep putting your foot in your mouth...

If I asked you what the link brackets I made does for the scx10, how would you explain it?...Would you do so in a way that one needs to understand suspension geometry to understand it or just tell them in simple terms and they say oh ok ill try it?...What I meant by it is what it says..Not everyone actually knows or understand many aspect of the rc vehicle and just do things because people tell them something works..They never learn..they just follow..Some don't understand 4 links suspensions or what anti squat is or even had understanding enough to come up with a product or something that even can help improve performance..They rely on others and follow...1+1 is 2 right?..we all were taught that...but what we weren't taught is why its 2...A huge book explains that but we wouldn't all understand it without very very good match skills...so really were just told 2 is the answer but don't truly understand why that is..same thing applies to many things in life including rc and real cars and drag cars and oval track cars and off shore power boats and motorcycles...its not what your told but what you unserstand that gives you an edge over tthe next person...Im no expert in anything but I learn what im interested in and don't just take some ones word for anything..If I want to know something im going to actually know it and understand it no matter how long it takes.

Jeddidiah was thinking of ways to wipe out all of penguin kind by using a spoon
and dental floss. Hmmm.... So far he has massacred around uhh...2. He cannot
talk because the lobsters are gnawing at his only kneecap he has left, and that
is the left one. Oh no!!! The've got ahold of his prostetic knee!! What type of
lobsters are they???!!?! He starts to smell some mashed potatoes, they might
come in handy in the penguin plan.....

Completely avoiding my statement. Tell me how the Integy skid will work exactly like my risers, and why an aluminum skid is preferable.

I get that man..ive put my rig through tests on MY terrain where I live in the mountains..i don't just drive in my front yard, I promise you..I use my stock rubicon as a test bed to compare to the changes ive made to the honcho...My honcho is far far more capable than my stock rubicon..because I don't pay money to enter a track someone else designed for you guys don't mean I don't challenge my rig..Ive seen the videos..ive been on very similar terrain ive seen in them and tried to duplicate things ive seen..some successful and some not..so yea I have more to learn like we all do..but I get what you are saying ..I need to compete to learn more and youre 100 percent correct ,,Unfortunately I don't have a group or a club where im at to do that so I do the best I can to simulate what I can see.

EDIT: Quite frankly its done things I didn't think it could ,having seen more expensive set ups do the same thing..I wouldn't be afraid to compete with my rig thinking I would get shut down on the first gate in a trail truck class that my truck might qualify to be in.

Once again you insinuate that we are all blind followers and only hang high priced parts on our rigs and blindly do what the vendors say. You are wrong and your insinuations are insulting. Many of us on this site are engineers. Many of us have years of experience with 1:1 off roading in one form or another. I came from Jeeping and have owned CJs, YJs and a couple TJs, all modified and ran by both me and my wife. NIRC runs a couple events a year at a 1:1 ORV Park where they also run scale comps or GTGs. SCRC does similar things as I am sure our members do across the nation.

Our vendors are experts in their own right and if their product or product support doesn't work and is not an improvement over stock, they disappear pretty fast from the RCC landscape.

So you worked on hot rods. that makes you determine that none of us know our ass from a hole in the ground. Did you have the same attitude? No one knows anything and you have to prove it to your self first? If so, I am damn glad you never worked on one of my rigs or hot rods.

Tell you what. Take your dream sleeper rig, build it and tune it they way you want with no input from those of us that have already walked route. When you are all done reinventing the wheel, take it to an event, run it alongside of one of the members rigs and see if you can even complete a stage.
