I'll build a bed cage like a prerunner has out of 3/16" tubing first and correctly angle the shocks based on compressed and extended shock length.

I dont have the articulation of the tires height by any means but I have it as far as I can go and not hurt the body or rear cage at stock height...if I raised the body I can go with more travel but Id rather have the low CG..I can take a pretty steep sideways angle on a hill or a rock...I give credit to using saddle packs on the sliders though as well..if my battery was over an axle or even just in front of the trans I would tip at this angle

you get 1 inch of wheel travel for every 1 inch of shock compression if they are mounted straight up and down...So how tall is your tires???????

4.4 inches 4.5 inches??????..Ok so you have less than 4 inches of shock travel and wheel travel..Bummer...So to get that same travel as your tires height you can do one of 2 things.

You can get taller shocks to reach that holy grail of wheel travel... but then suffer with a higher COG or you can gain travel by mounting your shocks in what is called ALPHA ANGLE...This is when you lean the top of your shock down..What this does is increase wheel travel with less up travel from the shock..Meaning your wheel may move 3 inches upward but your shock only moves maybe 2 inches leaving you with more wheel travel before your shock bottoms out..The angle at which you mount your shock will determine that ratio between wheel travel vs shock travel so you will have to experiment as I did to get it right for your tires/shocks.

This method has other effects though you should know about...it will make your shock act as a softer set up and it lowers your truck the farther you lean them in....so if you feel its too soft for your liking then more shock tuning will be needed to correct that...If your truck sits too low then you need longer shocks to achieve the desired set up...The fact that your truck will respond a lot better to the terrain as well shouldn't be a problem for some of you...If you have stock shock hoops and shocks then mount the shock in to the last holes leaning the shock in the direction of the middle of the chassis...you wont be sorry you did as initial set up..Its not such a drastic change that you have over 1 tires travel but will add to your travel none the less even if only a few millimeters.

What I did on my Honcho was use custom 93mm shocks and layed my shocks down more than the supplied shock hoop mounting holes....This brought my ride height back to stock and actually made my COG lower than stock as the weight of the shocks were moved down as well..Plus I achieved the wheel travel I was after.

I will close by saying you really can only have as much wheel travel as your body and tires will allow before rubbing and destroying your body..How much that is is up to you.

I have a custom scaler also but use stock RTR Honcho 90mm shocks and have well over 45 degrees of articulation because of the angle I mounted the top of the shock...I get just over 5 inches of wheel travel from shocks that aren't even 4 inches of travel...Too much?...well my tires are 5 inches tall so I think its just about right.

We already know that and if you had actually searched the entire site you would see plenty of discussions about shock angle and shocks in general.

Limiting the wheel travel to one tire height comes from the comp side of crawling.

As you stated you can only have as much travel as the body will allow so increasing the wheel travel in scalers beyond that is not practical or needed. Raising the body or cutting the wheel openings to accommodate such a mod takes away from scale look of a rig and makes it look like a 2.2s with a scale body on it. Which is probably why you didn't find anyone doing it.

A lot of folks on here started out building rigs from parts that were never meant to be on a crawler so I can see how a lot of people would be skeptical when someone who has been here for five minutes says they have something new/original.

There's a lot of different people on here just like any other public place so if you have a thin skin or don't have enough sense to see when your being lead in circles for entertainment sake then this might not be the place for you.

You don't have to lay the shock down to get 4.5-4.75" of travel out of a stock shock and still have a low COG.
 
Seems to me the special knowledge you planned to share turned out to be common knowledge and butt hurt ensued. Which is probably why you continually say your not going to show us because someone hurt your feelings.

its not that it was common KNOWLEDGE for SOME...but anything I say you guys act like im passing it off as my own when all im doing is my own build and doing my thing..for some odd reason ive been chosen to be trolled on ..Ive had threads destroyed before they even start..Ive had mods abuse their powers against me...Ive had nothing but BS from this site for trying to help others and do my own thing.

I never go to other threads and do what a lot are to me..Some actually appreciate the info I put out even if it is COMMON KNOWLDEGE to you super wonders of the rc world.

You guys simply don't get anything and just follow the leading douchbag pack on here to get your self seen.
