New SSD SCX10 axle housings

Plastic wouldn't be worth the trouble for knuckles and chubs. Too high stress they would break I would think.

Shhhhhh.
If it anything like there plastic axle housing i'm sure it will be strong enough..
Besides to get a set of Knucks & chubs would be 60.00 a set x 5 for me and the poor cdn dollar would end up costing me 400.00....
I'm think they would be a great addition the there line up of parts....
And i don't run the snot out of mine ,just crawl nice and slow... "thumbsup"

I said this knuckle and C hub is capable of 58 degrees. That doesn't mean you will achieve it on the standard SCX10 chassis. The CVD may max out at 50 deg, the tires may touch links etc...

ok guys....... I have the new SSD goodies installed and a front with vp goodies for comparison."thumbsup"

SSD with gripfab locker (Heavy version), helical gears, LURC blue bearings, SSD Bearing caps, new knuckles and chub's.

All together with SSD optional cover

castor shot (They provide more castor than the vp 8 degree set up)

Now steering comparison. I wanted to pull the VP VVD HD's out and run them with my new SSD Pro combo but I couldn't get the shafts out of the ne FI spools:mrgreen:

I have to say that The New SSD Pro components are worth every penny. I couldn't believe the finish and design quality let alone the available steering with axial standard cvd's installed.

One thing to note. The SSD Pro knuckels will not accept the DLux brass bushing, only the standard axial offerings work. There is no room for slop though.

Thanks for clearing that up. "thumbsup"

Very nice and all good news.

Here's how mine turned out. Still need to cut down the shafts on the front and waiting on lockouts but so far I like them. Also I can fit vp wheels with 225 hubs!

Thanks Bananaclip for answering every question I had without even having to post it, I think I know how I want to rebuild the Deadbolt for sure now.

Great.
Will there be any plastic one in the works, like the same material you use for the scx10 Axle housing....Aluminum ones are nice, but the plastic ones would be cheaper.."thumbsup"

Plastic isn't cheaper unless you sell a bunch. The cost of the tooling alone would be $50K-$100K unless you went full Chinese but still thats likely $5-$10K.

Until volumes are high, plastic is a horrible option price wise.

All together with SSD optional cover

These things look outrageous with all the scale hardware you used. Holy cow, stop making me spend all my moneys please! "thumbsup"

I'm curious on the 58* xr mod doesn't even get that..

Clearanced uni's can go to 70°...

With my SSD axles assembled with VP VVD I'm getting little less steering than my Axial CVDs did, my tires used to be able to lightly rub the front lower links. SSD c-hubs and knuckles have the ability to steer more, but VP VVD do not.

I don't sleep. Finished modding the shafts and got it all together.

Sweet! I was looking at your pics and re-reading back through this thread...you narrowed your axles slighty or?

No just narrow xr modded. Cut down XR10 universals to the stock width SSD housing.

I have a slight obsession with Locked Up's scale hardware. I am phasing out all standard hardware and am going full scale. Easier on the trail to carry 2 tools and a wrench"thumbsup". I'm very happy with SSD's entire lineup. Everything is so well made and has very tight tolerances. SSD needs to add brass or delrin bushings to complete the Pro series chub and knuckle combo:mrgreen:
