New SSD SCX10 axle housings

Maybe they are there for a reason for future use, but what i don't like, but looks ok is the 4 link upper truss it's to square and looks a tad big maybe i little more rounded would be the ticket, like Axial.
Still a great job SSD.Just bought another set.."thumbsup"

Yes I know they are there for reason to make it a non steering axle for rear just wished they would design there own more scale looking lock out instead of using axials style and I do agree there are very nice looking axle anyway

I've been reading on other forums about the housing flexing and stripping gears? Has anyone on here had a problem like that?

Brass tubes, better knuckles/c-hubs...get on the hype train :ror:

What happen to this?

Cant wait to get a set of these, but like others have said the truss looks like it was a last minute after thought.

Can anyone tell me the outside diameter of the axle tubes?

Axle tube od = 13mm. Here are a few pics of 1:1 Dana 60 trusses.

A few pages back SSD says they're already designing chubs, knuckles and axle trusses. The chubs and knuckles should be out in a few weeks. I believe it said they may be aluminum as well.

JMO but the trusses really fit the bill for one ton axles. Most people who build 1.1 trail rig and take the leap to run tons (60's) build very similar truss systems. These axles are for the rc enthusiast that like to build their tiny rig to match the 1.1 counterpart (scale). The truss is by no means a last minute attempt. I'm loving all that SSD is doing for our hobby. We all know that hatters are going to hate. If you don't care for the truss provided make your own...... Oh wait you probably can't.

I put the scale hardware in mine and pre-tapped the holes. Is it normal that they strip fairly easy? I am using the gear-head 2mm socket wrench as well. Is there something that may work better?

Wish the link mounts were angled towards the skid. Improving rod end geometry.

I'll have to double check, but I recall one of the first things my buddy and I noticed that they are a little more angled than the axial housings giving better pumpkin/driveshaft angles.

Like I said....will have to double check and take pics.

I added scale hardware to mine as well but I installed all the factory hardware first and then replaced them with the LURC hardware. I think the SSD 2mm driver is loose fitting on their 2mm hardware. RPP has a note on heir website about it. I have the same driver and it fits the LURC hardware great.

The OD of the tubes is ~13mm.

The rear truss was not a last minute after thought. It is a common style used the 1:1 world.

I know a few people have also said the optional diff covers are not scale. They aren't stock style and not to everyone's taste but they are scale. Check out Poison Spyder/Riddler/etc... The optional cover was inspired by those.

Like I said..... Hater's Going to Hate. They are just upset that the housings keep selling out before they can get them. LOL. Oh optional diff cover is amazing I love mine..

To be honest I dont think anyone is hating. They just may not have known what's available in the 1:1 world or they want perfectly scale parts. Most of the time it's not possible to make them perfectly scale due to the parts needing to be durable, hardware, material, cost etc... So compromises need to be made. I dont mind when people say "I wish it had......." or "why didn't you make like this....". Some good ideas might come out of it for next time...

Exactly, I haven't seen anybody hatin, just giving input and wishlist. SSD has been very responsive to our input and I appreciate that. "thumbsup" I question some things and suggest others, not trying to rain on anybody's parade...I think most here do the same. We all want something a little different and SSD is doing their best to accomadate us all which is not easy. ;-)"thumbsup"

Maybe a low profile rear 4 link, and mount the links above the pinion, more forward?
I think the concern is the big truss takes the focus from the diff to the mount
