New SSD SCX10 axle housings

Awesome. They where the one thing I wasn't really happy with on these. The plastic just seemed too thin for my liking. One of them even deformed when I accidentally tightened the screw too much.

Most things will deform if you tighten the hardware out of spec or too much. I know when I was putting on the diff cover, it would deform slightly because I tightened too much so I had to back out the hardware a 1/2 turn. Also I'd rather it deform than snap the hardware like it would if it were an aluminum housing.

Also soap box time. I know it hasn't been said enough, but nice job making these EASY to swap, drop in, inexpensive scale scx10 width axle housings SSD/Katan. I'm a Design/Mechanical engineer by trade and more often than not, people (aka clients) don't realize the R&D nor funds required to pull off something like this or any quality product for that matter. "Why didn't you do it like this or I wish it were like this....". I know, we all have wants...but there are many reasons but usually the most likely reason is it's not as financially sound to make a custom housing. So say he makes offset pumpking/custom width axle housings....now he has to make custom axles too? Cost keeps going up for him....thus for the customer...and will he sell that many of this "custom" housing to recoup his funds/investment within a reasonable time frame? Got to look at it from that perspective as well. I'm sure someone with his experience can whip up a custom/off-centered housing (hell, it might already be in the works for all I know), I mean he has this specific housing already modeled up so it's as simple as manipulating the CAD model but it may just not make business sense to do so considering he'll have to invest in the mold(s) and additional parts to complete a custom axle. I mean all you have to do is swap in the parts you already have from your current setup to get these axle housings to work...no additional parts needed. Lastly, it shouldn't be too hard to make an offset/custom width version of these by cutting and modifying them like people have done many times with the AR60. Already will have to make custom width axle shafts, how much more work is doing a custom housing? Ok so maybe a custom housing is a little more work than cutting and grinding an axle to length but you get my point. Anyways...off my soap box...rant over...just my $0.02.

Great job tending to the masses SSD, I look forward to the knuckles/chubs for these and any other products you decide to create for our "toys". And for those that think I'm some SSD fan-boy or something, I'm not. These are the first parts of theirs that I've bought and am thoroughly impressed. I have parts from all companies that support our little hobby. "thumbsup"

Thanks Shinjari and everybody who supports SSD "thumbsup"

I have lots of new things in the works 8)

I totally agree am in the same profession as you. sometimes when People don't know all the engineering that goes into mold design.

I agree with above, just happy to have these.

My rear is going to be perfect, the front of my scaler is going to require changes - but hey thats the fun. I have a good axle housing now, just have to figure the 3rd upper link since I'm 3link/Panhard. How the original company that made the link mount and SSD's design may work, may not. But with some measuring and fitting it will all sort itself out and I'll get to have fun building. I look at it as a fun challenge, not a "OMG why didn't you leave this hole" or "OMG that hole is off 1mm".

I'm not complaining. I love these housings. Best thing I've done to my rig so far. They are awesome. Made even better now that they have alloy bearing stays.

Got my axles all built up. Great work SSD, I gotta say everything I've got of yours is well thought out, well made and priced right.

I just was hoping they would get rid or redesign them ugly darn rear lockouts just ruins the look of all the rear axles brands my two cents LOL "thumbsup"

Anyone use the ssd cms with the vp 8 degree knuckles on this? I am too lazy to measure what steering link length I need. The 60mm from ssd is way too short

2 'll do right there, mine look the same waiting on some scale hardware

Maybe they are there for a reason for future use, but what i don't like, but looks ok is the 4 link upper truss it's to square and looks a tad big maybe i little more rounded would be the ticket, like Axial.
Still a great job SSD.Just bought another set.."thumbsup"
