New SSD SCX10 axle housings

Stock width SCX axles are great for Wraith, I'm using them or Ascender axles on mine. "thumbsup"

I'm looking to shorten the wheelbase, narrow the track width, and still run a 2.2 tire. The 5.4" proline swamper. Scx is too narrow for what I want to do.
And I don't like the original scx axles.
And the ascender axles don't have a very good rep.
And I don't feel like narrowing the ar60's, I'd rather not have to come up with new mounts for it
Sorry, but thanks.

Most likely the (QTY 4; 2 per end) round boss/extrusions that the stock scx10 chub hardware attaches to at 3 and 9 o-clock positions relative to the axle tube. The wraith/xr10 knuckles dont use those points to bolt hardware to, they use hardware at the 12 and 6 o-clock positions relative to the axle.

And then you'd most likely just file the tab on the axle at the 12 and 6 o-clock positions to act as the splined area. Seems the same procedure for the the xr10 mod.

This is exactly how I plan on doing mine when they get here.

Mine came in yesterday along with a bunch of other things. I likely will no get to mess with them until next week.

Just thinking does the kit servo mount work on these, or do i need the SSD one?

let me get this straight with a little mod i could use the wraith chubs and knuckle to get a better turning radius....
Can i still use the scx10 axles shafts or is that another mod"thumbsup"

the holes on the stock Axial one do not line up with the SSD holes. I was messing around with mine and was going to just drill my own holes in the plate but found the SSD one for $5 so I just bought it. I think it is part number SSD00057 don't quote me on that number though

Since you will have to use axle shafts that were made to fit the Wraith or XR10 knuckles ,those will have to be modded as well. SCX10 axle shafts will not work with Wraith/XR10 knuckles.

so the front wraith shafts would have to be modified then...Any thread that shows how it's done....."thumbsup"

Don't have a link but you literally cut down xr10 (not wraith, I think the short side is too short) so they are the same length from the bearing step as an SCX10 axle is & grind on some flats to fit the locker.

Another option, is buy seperately from either VP or STRC the SCX10 inner axles & Wraith stub axles & the joint rebuild parts.

STRC Replacement Joints, pins and aluminum sleeves for STA30780 (Black)

Don't mistakenly order the SCX10 joint/pins/sleeves for these, must be the Wraith version to suit the Wraith stub axle ( the sleeve is a different length)

thanks for leading me in the right direction....."thumbsup"

so what i have to do then is buy 2 set of front universal wraith shafts keep the long ones and cut the down to size and flatten "file" both ends..
would it be the same length as the scx10 shafts....
Would be an expensive front end...and if i screw up back to the drawing board.....lol.."thumbsup"

I've lead you a direction, whether it's right could be open to debate.
The mod'd xr10 uni shafts will give you more turning angle. However the spate of them failing with little to no provocation recently & still only limited reports the newer stock is fixed & almost no way to tell new stock from the dud batches, going that way has some risk.

If you want & can afford nigh on indestructible, a set of dlux fab mod'd Ofna shafts would be the ticket but they're 100% custom.

Ofna really i have like 6 sets of ofna lx2 uni shafts. That like a hole new front end...Iv'e heard about this mod when i did my Foff build in the Foff thread the finland boys...
I'll do my homework... should be getting my SSD axles tomorrow can't wait also i'll check my wraith front end and compare to the scx10..."thumbsup"

Don't do it with the Wraith shafts, like you say you waste totally the short side (I'm sure its too short to use in SCX10 width).
They had the same material failure issues as the xr10 sets if that's what your trying to avoid.
