My 2013 Losi Sporty

The Losi has done well this year,-and gave me a win in the 2013 Norwegian (NORCC) sportsman series "thumbsup"
Won four out of seven entered comps and with six out of eight comps counting in the series, first place was in the bag ;-)

But for 2014,-I will most likely be upgrading with a new chassis and tranny.......

Stay tuned 8)

Congrats dude. That is awesome.

Staying tuned....already subscribed.

Some pictures of the Losi (and me) from this years sportsman series:

Pictures stolen from hph, shortlux, bolt and T5 "thumbsup"

The more I read through this thread, the more I am seeing things I really like. I do have a question.

What are your impressions of the ROC motor? It is obviously working well for you, but what are you liking. I was so excited about the prospect of those motors, but have heard mixed reviews. I have been extremely pleased with Tekin stuff, but have not heard good things about the lower register (SSSSLLLLOOOOOWWWW Crawl).

Just curious, what are your RS settings?

So interested in hearing more about what you come up with your tranny.

Thanks for the kind words "thumbsup"

I like the ROC,but it's my first brushless crawler-motor,-so I have nothing to compare it to,-never tried a brushed motor with worms either.
I can drive slow and smooth, but it's not as smooth in reverse, maybe that's because of the front HD-worms. Steep downhills could also be better, but I have dialed in some push-control on the RS,-and it helps a bit.....still doing some testing here.... 8)

Regarding the other RS-settings,-I have to come back to you later :)

My RS settings are:

Voltage cutoff: 3S
Driving mode: Sensored only
Motor direction: Reverse
Throttle profile: 1
Current limit: Off
Throttle minimum: 0
Push control: 10
Drag brake: Off
Brake strength: 50
Reverse speed: 80
Neutral width: 30
Brake minimum: 0
Active brake: Off

An awesome Losi Sportsman you have there"thumbsup"
Great job.

Which chassis is this? Is it made for Losis or have you modified it to fit a Losi?

Regards,
Jeffrey

Thanks :)

The chassis is the Sucker Punch from 5th Dimension.
It is an Axial chassis,-but I have drilled new holes to mount the LNC transmission"thumbsup"

Just glanced at this and it made me think. Why have any brake strength? Release the trigger and the worms should instant-stop the tires, more or less. It's not like you can coast, right?

It does coast a little when I release the trigger, maybe the brake strength value does'nt matter when the ESC is in instant reverse mode ???

Eeepee talked about having to run some drag with the HH Revolver Outrunner, because of the continued rotation of the mass of the motor. Pretty sure the huge rotor of the ROC does a similar thing.

I sooo want to try both of those motors.

Some progress,-need to be done before the Spanish Nationals in february 8)

Made a plate out of 0,8mm alu for the ESC behind the front axle and a receiver mount over the gearbox.
The big bores now have no pre load cups from DLux,and gunnar body mounts are test fitted,-have not decided on body yet......

I'm very pleased with the SDI driveshafts,-have to see if they hold up ;-)

Need to tidy up the wiring,waiting for a new RX,-because I've switched to a 4PLS :)

Worm gears can't coast -- not in their DNA. I suppose a heavy motor could continue to drive them a bit after trigger release, but neither my ROC nor Axle Buster does that on mine. So maybe something else is going on, like a touchy neutral setting or something.

The "coasting" is minimal, and only noticeable at higher speeds, when i let off the throttle, the wheels does not lock up immediately,-a bit hard to describe, but it helps me downhill,-at list I think so ;-)
Still need to do further testing "thumbsup"
