Mounting a new servo

I’m brand new to the hobby and trying to get my son involved. I bought an ECX Barrage Gen 2 as my intro truck. I thought this would be a good inexpensive truck to learn on, and wouldn’t break the bank when my son drives it into a tree 500 times. After reading a lot online there is a recommendation of getting a new servo. I went to a local hobby store and talked with the guy there and purchased his recommendation.

After taking everything apart the new servo doesn’t match up on the mount as the old one did. It’s too long to drill new holes and I’ve tried a few redneck engineering tricks but they’ve failed.

My question is, what are my options? I’ve reached out on Facebook looking for someone with a 3D printer. I’ve searched online for mounts that would fit. Should I be looking at my old servo’s measurements and looking for a new servo with those exact L X W X H? I assume this is a common problem and would hope some veterans could give me some advice or expectations as I’m down the rabbit hole.

If the local hobby shop wants people to shop local, they should fix this.

Have you told them what they recommended you spend your money on doesn't fit?

I would go back to the shop where you purchased the servo, bring your truck along and see if they can help you through getting it mounted.
