Losi Baja Rey 1/10th 4WD RTR desert truck

Looks really good Mike, I cant wait to see it with the body panels on, I have been testing a few ideas with my "test B-Rey", more upright front shocks and second rear shocks and seeing which ideas I will transfer over to my #7 Bryce Menzies Race Truck. I thought it a fitting truck to do a version of since he is running AWD full time now, The two areas that I am having the most headaches with are the rear dual spares and fuel cell layout and the wheels, other than that she is coming along nicely.

I too have the HH 4100kv Puller Pro L and I was wondering if you are getting any cogging?? And if you are running 2s or 3s and what ESC?

Sweet - can't wait to see what you come up with. "thumbsup"

I only did a quick run around the side yard, but cogging didn't seem to be an issue. I run 3s only, and still using the OE ESC.

Hello! need your front spring advice. After tuning, the baja became harder and the front springs cannot cope with this weight, which springs would you recommend for stock shoks?
Does anyone know how stiff the stock springs are?(lbs)

Quick shot with one of the old cabs mounted. I also went ahead and buttoned her up with all the inner panels since everything seemed sorted.

Waiting on the new RPM decals for the new body. Gett'n close!

"thumbsup" Looks good! Can't wait to see all finished up.

I just stumbled upon this thread, 95 pages deep. Some nice looking rigs, gang. As for paint schemes, McMillin has a Mason MS awd truck as well, and cool graphics. Out of curiousity, how many of you guys are running Metalconcepts parts? mewalsh100, how much does your truck weigh with the metal cage? 10 lbs? Looks great! "thumbsup" I'm also curious as to how long the paint will hold up on the wheels, mine are kinda hammered from rocks so I haven't painted them. They look like a million bucks with color. All good for contingency.

I’m running MC upper and lower control arms. Vanquish Currie F9 rear end. Truck weighs 11lbs with 3s 5000mah pack. As far as paint on the wheels, they’ll probably get torn up pretty quick. I’ve got several sets of other wheels that i’ll most likely use for runners and reserve these for shelf queen status.

I was thinking about picking up the MC lowers but, that $50 price tag stings a little. Was also considering the SSD bulkhead and third member along with the Incision rear upper links and aluminum rear lowers.

I went through this a while back in this thread. I ended up putting the stiffest springs I own on the front shock. I used Axial Bomber RTR rear springs. I'm not sure the rate and they're not a perfect fit. I'll definitely be upgrading shocks soon, though.

SSD bulkhead and 3rd member for sure. If you're planning on running 3s+, the Exotek diff cups are highly recommended, as well.

Honestly, I'm pretty content with it on 2s. I know a lot will disagree but, I have run a couple 3s pack through it and while fun, seems a bit overkill for me.

I had an idea to put the rear springs on the front shocks, the wire diameter is 0.1 mm more, which means they will be more rigid at the same length. It remains to wait for a parcel with amain.com;-)

I don't own a 2s battery and I'm planning to be on 4s this summer with a 2400 kV Castle 1415 Sensored motor and a MX. Will no doubt be overkill.

In related news, the Baja Rey rebuild has been moved to the front of the line while I have bumped the Bawleur build to the back.

I'll be getting as much aluminum in this thing as possible and I'll be putting a Raptor body on in a faux-company livery. I'm not going to scale it out, but I am shooting for 60+. AM I CRAZY!?

Yes, you are crazy and will have bent parts. If you scale out the gnarly terrain of the San Felipe 250 race, you will be happy to hit high 20's and keep it rubber side down. With the 5700kv I have in the scratch built class 1 buggy I built, on 3s, it hit the low 50's. Temps got out of hand. It was fun never the less and the car worked quite well.

Yes you are, I just destroyed 2 front CVD drive shafts, bent like noodles on 2s this weekend, trying out the GPM #45 hardened spring steel replacements that get bigger in diameter in the middle section, I hope these hold up much better.

@elRayRay - Honestly, 4S will probably be a yard sale on this rig. Quite frankly, 3S can be a handful. You'll have a lot of difficulty getting any useful amount of power to the ground on 4S. Further, I really don't think the truck / parts can be built to handle that kind of power. I could be wrong in that regard, and will be curious to see how it goes for you though. You never know for sure until you try. Be sure to post some updates.

I wonder if the stock ones have similar size u joint pieces as axial and ofna... "thumbsup"

Yes, it would be nice to find another replacement that is not a CVD, the original universal joints have more articulation than the replacement GPM CVDs, that being said suspension and max steering are all within the range of the GPM CVDs.
