Losi Baja Rey 1/10th 4WD RTR desert truck

Are those just the Proline closed cell foams like what's included with most of their sct tires? I've still not ordered new rubber, but I've been considering going back to my stock tires (still good) with my old Proline closed cell foams, but I got cold feet about running with an air gap. I'd like to hear what foam combination you land on.

Yeah I took them from a set of badlands I had. I just glued them up and I like they way they feel. The only reason I bought the stock tires was they were cheap. I still think the bfg desert ko’s are the best tire for this truck. I’m going to try the out this weekend and will let you know.

Anyone using the losi led light bar? I’m only on 2s and am curious how bright it is

Yeah, it's definitely bright enough to be seen from a distance, but not quite "burn your eyes out" bright. It comes set up to run from rx power, so 6v regardless of 2/3/4s. No idea if it would take straight 2s power, I doubt it. I'd suggest glueing the board into the housing, mine popped out while driving and broke before I could react, I'd say it's worth the $25 even if only for the direct fit mounting of the housing.

I used the one for the first gen rey, not sure if it’s the same one on the raptor version but it’s more for looks, if you want something to drive at night don’t get it.

My "project B-Rey i.e.: "Low King"" is taking allot longer than anticipated, I have been going through the entire truck inside to out. Finally have the power train, drive train and control electronics finished, suspension and all drive-line mods done, mounting the cage this weekend and starting on light bars, interior/exterior scale details, after that I want to get a clear shell and have someone paint me a: #7 Bryce Menzies replica body since he is kicking butt in his new trophy spec AWD truck. Anyway I got an itch to drive this damn thing so I went and got another BND version and I am setting it this evening, figured it would be cool to have a "test vehicle" for my now high budget RC race team. Just though I would share....E

Quick question, what weight diff oil are guys having good luck with? I just picked up the King Shocks Raptor edition, so it's got the open rear diff. So I'm wondering what you guys are running F/C/R? I've got some 500K laying around but I'm thinking that's way too thick. Thoughts?

I was just greasing the front diff but now using 5k and l like it. Using 40k in center and rear is locked. I’m going to run in open diff in the rear and was thinking maybe 30. Not sure what stock is in the rear on the new model.

Probably heavy grease like the original.

I haven't torn mine apart yet but I've heard the Raptors just have grease in them.

Yes the new ones do have an open diff in the rear, does it say in the manual what weight they come with?

Thanks guys.

I see a lot have installed a glitch buster. Is that to help with the light bars and or when swapping out servo to Savox brand.

Picked up some front UDR shocks, I think they are 134mm so you lose 5mm of travel but not going to matter. If you don’t want to lose the extra 5mm they make a 139 for the UDR rear that you can use. I also got the raptor body and mount. Haven’t decided on

Hello,

I got my son a Raptor last week. First RC experience and it has been a blast. We have only done beach runs and dune jumps. The car is awesome and shure can take a beating.
We did encounter the same problems as you described. Both the esc-fan filling up with sand and the overheating on 3s.
Changing the pinion to the 10t that came in the box nearly solved the overheating problem. Now it shuts down only once sometimes twice before the 7600 mAh 3s battery runs down. With the 13t pinion it was literaly every minute.
I have an Ebay 550 motorcooler on order in an attempt get rid of the remaining shutdowns.
In 2s no problems however, still plenty fast for bashing.

Been away for a while with work, but got some updates. In short, the issue is fixed. It was definitely an overheating issue though, only cropped up once the fan stopped running.

To fix it I did switch to a 10t pinion, which helped a lot. Before that though I took off the esc cover to expose the heat sync and I think that helps the most. I had another fan I zip tied to the roof of the cage to blow air down, but eventually that filled with sand too. I have the interior out to help cooling too (I'd rather it run that look good), and have no issues since. I run 3s all the time and can get through a whole 7400 pack now with no issues.

That all being said, I go through two 7400maH packs while my friend with a slash (heavily modded with a 2200kv Momba Monster X) goes through 3/4 of a 7500maH 4s pack. There's totally different gearing and motor/esc, but that seems like a huge difference in power consumption, which makes me think the stock dynamite system is inefficient, which might contribute to the heat. Thoughts anyone?
