Losi Baja Rey 1/10th 4WD RTR desert truck

TheletterJ is right, that’s normal wear from using that type of driveshaft.

Anyways I was getting a little annoyed that I never received an email that my jec racing trailing arms shipped so I was about to contact them and see what was up..... then they came in the mail that day! So i never called. Now I just need to install these sweet trailing arms

Post a pic when you get the arms on

Does anybody happen to know the size of the dogbone through-pins (diff side of front axle shafts) off the top of their head? I had one go missing in action today and can't see buying new axles when an off the shelf (hopefully!) pin would suffice.

Yeah, looks like they're still around several of the regular online retailers, but Losi shows "Due early September". Guess I'd better get 'em while the gettin' is good.

You could try soldering your 3 mm pin in place, brazing would be better if you can do that.

I think I'll try to drill it out big enough to make a 1/8" (3.175mm) dowel pin press fit by a couple thousandths for now, but the best answer (seeing how the hole has opened up) is to just replace the shaft.

I can braze, but I don't see that living a long life after being annealed, and I'm no expert on the proper way to go about heat treating after the fact... just quench it? Might be a fun project just for the sake of seeing what I can do, but ultimately I'd likely just throw the "fixed" one in the spares box, and new ones in the truck.

I bet the original pin cracked in half in the middle and the two halves fell out. I also bet it's intended to use a 3.175mm (1/8in) pin, because Losi still uses English sizes for a lot of their parts. If it's harder than hell to press-fit into place, that's normal -- those pins are normally installed when the dogbone is hot and the hole is larger.

Going to take out the 4000kv motor and put in a sensored 3600 motor and esc. Now that it’s warming up the motor is getting a little too hot so I’m going to put that in a custom tt build.

Bajarey2017 you are going to love that set up, it’s the exact same that I run in my baja rey and yeti tt.

Anyways here’s the picture of the jec racing trailing arms mounted.

What’s really weird is I got an email 2 weeks ago saying that the jec racing trailing arms I ordered had shipped.... even though I already had them. I honestly didn’t believe the email at all but surprisingly there was actually a package that came in from jec. In the package were 2 Baja rey length trailing arms!

Yeah I’m going to run it this weekend, Can’t wait. Iv heard a lot of good things about it. I also got an MIP axial yeti driveshaft I’m going to install. What pinion are you using with that motor?

Currently the stock gearing. I haven’t seen a reason yet to switch. I’m also running it on a 3s 3000mah pack

Got the truck put back together after rebuilding the diffs and new motor and esc. Can’t wait to run it

You weren’t kidding, that motor and esc are insane! It’s on the default settings until I get my program card tomorrow but it’s like a new truck, can’t believe the difference over stock and even the 4000kv motor I had in it.

I took the Baja Rey to Test n tune tonight for first time in a LONG time at outdoor 1/10 track and had more fun than I have in awhile. Track was great so I took blockades off TLR and raced a couple practice heats with the 4x4 SCT trucks. First race it seriously looked like I had a perfectly tuned race truck "in the first two corners". I left the second corner from start gate in second place with front tires off ground and traction was good so I just clamped the throttle and passed first place truck with front tires still in air letting her eat knowing I could make the triple.... But I didn't and buried the chassis pan deep in the track.... But! I did finish 6th out of 11 and 5th out of 9 the second race. Not bad for a rtr with Tekin electronics and Proline tires!
