Losi Baja Rey 1/10th 4WD RTR desert truck

I took the Baja Rey to Test n tune tonight for first time in a LONG time at outdoor 1/10 track and had more fun than I have in awhile. Track was great so I took blockades off TLR and raced a couple practice heats with the 4x4 SCT trucks. First race it seriously looked like I had a perfectly tuned race truck "in the first two corners". I left the second corner from start gate in second place with front tires off ground and traction was good so I just clamped the throttle and passed first place truck with front tires still in air letting her eat knowing I could make the triple.... But I didn't and buried the chassis pan deep in the track.... But! I did finish 6th out of 11 and 5th out of 9 the second race. Not bad for a rtr with Tekin electronics and Proline tires!

Nice! Iv been doing mostly track with mine lately too. Iv been thinking about getting a track truck but there’s only one place close or Vegas which is a little over an hour away. Installed an HR driveline and it looks good and feels well built but when the rear end is fully extended it feels like it gets bound up so had to make some limiters for the shocks. I’m guessing it’s fine for the stock shocks.

Anybody know a trick to get the below-flush remains of my grade 12.9 screws out of the aluminum Twin Hammers diff cup? These screws are too small for my usual methods, though I don't have a left hand drill bit that small. If purchasing a new tool is in order, I may just suck it up and buy another carrier, and drill/tap the new one for m2.5 instead.

If you used loctite try and heat it with a solder tip and if you have a pick set you can maybe get lucky and slowly work it out.

I ran the Baja rey on gravel for the first time today with the throttle epa set at 150%.... I’ve gotta say holly s*** it’s fast and nearly uncontrollable.

I’ve ran the thing on the street at the same setting, and on the street it either flips or gets damn near close.

I do need to rebuild the font shocks or replace the springs. What are you guys running as far as shock oil and springs? The shocks are the rtr ones all around.

Depends on what you’re going to do with it. Before I upgraded to prolines I was using 35w in the front and 50w in the rear and had the preload on the front at about 1/4 to 1/2 that really helped settle the rearend. I left the rear preload pretty much how it came. The stock spring seemed to work pretty good. I mostly bashed and ran on backyard tracks with that set up.

Ordered a Baja Rey to get my trophy truck fix.

What are you all using for a servo?

I was thinking either of these which have almost identical performance.;
Savox SV1271SG; 277oz / .11sec @ 6v
Savox SB2274SG; 277oz / .105sec @ 6v

Is 277oz overkill? Can i sacrifice some torque for a faster servo? This is pretty much all for bashing.

you want a faster servo. but honestly.. the 277 at .10 is not a bad choice for this rig. keep the rig on 2s lipo. unless you wanna fork out some money to keep the diffs in. replace your front and rear pinion gear bearings immediately.

ive retired my 1/10 Baja reys. got me the big one now.

Just got my Baja rey and am having an issue. I'm running a 5300mah 2s 30c lipo. When I drive it every once in a while I'll only get around 25% throttle for about 30 seconds and then it'll have no throttle response for about 10 seconds. Then it'll suddenly have full power again. Last run it happened a few times every couple minutes. It's an older battery but it works fine in my other cars.

The batt might not be getting a full charge and your lvc might be set high on the esc. I dont remember the stock lvc setting. Check the manual. I think its 7.6volts.

Man. Looks like the Baja Rey thread is on life support.

Anyway, after a pretty harsh season that saw track time and general running, I just did a complete tear down, inspection and cleaning of mine. No major issues, but she definitely needed freshened up. The plastic cage is pretty well done at this point. Trying to decide if I wanna pony up the cash for all the plastic cage bits, or get a metal cage built up. Leaning towards a metal, bolt on cage. Might "scale" her up a bit more if I go that route."thumbsup"

Has anyone had success tracking down an aluminum wheel option with proper off-set yet? Decided to pop for the metal cage and intend take the rig much more scale. I've played around with several sets, but thus far, all the off-sets are wrong. No way to run a full fender body without the wheels destroying them.

Iv been looking as well and haven’t found any. I finally got my Rey out for the first time in months. Sold my second and probably last UDR. Might try the super rey next.

The Baja Rey project is coming along nicely. Still waiting on the metal cage - should be about 3-4 more weeks. In the meantime, I got the scale, crossed drilled stainless rotors on. New Method wheels - detailed/painted. Spooned the new BFG All-Terrain T/A's on as well. Still have to detail the lettering on them in the red and blue - which I'm dreading. Freak'n tedious!

Also got the Vanquish lowers and uppers installed. I went with Yeti length to bring the wheelbase in to accommodate the ProLine Raptor body. Wheelbase looks to be spot on now."thumbsup" Still debating what livery to run. Pretty much down to Rockstar or RPM.
