Losi Baja Rey 1/10th 4WD RTR desert truck

My LHS got some of the new proline ko2 desert tires and they look good, it would definitely look good if you’re going for the scale look. Has anybody tried them yet? I was tempted but didn’t get them but it might be my next tire. I also got to drive the new UDR and it was pretty awesome. I know this isn’t the traxxas forum but WOW. The suspension is perfect for light bashing, it for sure drives just as good as it looks in the video. Needs to be a little stiffer for bigger jumps but that shouldn’t be a problem. Still haven’t driven the SBR but saw it and damn it’s big and heavy. Nothing special, it just looks like a super sized BR. So I put my money down and got the UDR, just sucks I can’t take it home for another few weeks.

Can you start a thread for your udr when you get it? I’m interested in possibly getting one, but I see a major flaw that really plagued the hpi savage that I used to have. It’s a 17mm hex, but uses an m5 nut unlike most 1/8 scale rc’s. It was so bad with the savage that every other run a wheel was guaranteed to fall off regardless of it being tightened

I got it Friday, I’m on traxxas UDR forums but hexes have been fine, the truck is a beast. I did have the servo go out already. I planned on replacing it just not this soon

you know whats more of a beast than the udr? the new revo. but more importantly the sbr.

Last time I ran my Baja rey it stripped a hex and lost a wheel nut. Proline tires, axial method sc wheels, slw hubs, slw hardware and 5 sets of m5 nuts later it’s finally fixed other than needing to be glued.

The only reason it’s 5 sets is because I got 1 set of m5 nylock nuts and ended up loosing them, so I picked up 4 figuring they would be harder to loose. Anyways it’s now fixed other than needed the rx case glued back together

lemme guess.. 3s? right? ive lost one stock wheel nut. after that I switched to traxxas serrated locknuts.

Yep. I just got dubro ones as that’s what the lhs had. As for the wheels I went the axial method sc tires and slw hubs to never strip a wheel hex again.... unless something really bad happens

you wouldn't strip a hex on 2s or lose a nut. ive said it plenty times before.. 3s just beats the Baja rey up way to much. if its not fast enough on 2s.. you need a different truck.

There's nothing wrong with running 3s, it just takes a few parts to get the 'Rey reliable on 3s. In the last 4 or more months I have broken: 1 wheel hex pin. That's it.

I started running mine on 3s and it’s been bulletproof. The ssd bulkhead and vanquish rear end definitely help. It’s not like you have to keep it pinned the whole time but when you need it it’s there. My friend has ran nothing but 3s in his, with a couple mods the truck is tough enough to handle it. If you don’t know how to drive your truck then you shouldn’t run 3s but it sounds like you do. Not everyone does.

The run were the wheel came off was its second run ever. I got it new and fixed some of the week points like hardware, bearings, servo mount, servo horn, front diff case, and all electronics.

I also got the Baja with the intention of running 3s most of the time

Yeah you should be good to go. I got a set of the new ko2’s. Why they didn’t make a taller version of the kr2, who knows. Personally I didn’t think they were all that great and they wore out too fast.

Looks good baja.

I’ve got a vanquish f9 axle coming for mine currently, but I really need to replace the body already

Nice! Did you get the silver or black one. I love mine. The fit and finish is awesome too.

I got the silver one because I found it first lol. I was going through the list of parts that Amain has for these and figured I might as well just order one. Both my yeti tt and b1b bomber are running ssd wide diamond axles so might as well give the BR the same treatment

Well I figured with the vp rear axle coming I should take out the Baja for a final run with the plastic axle....... only to destroy the rear diff. With no weight on the suspension i can hold the driveshaft so that it doesn’t rotate and then spin the wheels

Yeah it’s done. You’re better off having a new ring in pinion with the new diff anyways. The gear mesh is perfect with it.

Upon a closer inspection the inner pinion bearing decided to completely fall apart, and stripped part of the diff gears. The bearing is one of the few ones I haven’t replaced yet. The diff gears are fine but I might as well replace them wile the axle is apart.
