Losi Baja Rey 1/10th 4WD RTR desert truck

My motor finally gave it up after countless runs. I was pretty impressed with the abuse it took. Has anybody else tried one of theses motors? I saw a review of one that was put in a rock rey and the thing ripped and it was 3600 kv, my lhs only had 4000kv.

I’m running a hobbywing 3660 3600kv in mine on 3s and it’s absolutely insane. I don’t know if it’s the same one as mine needed to be soldered to the esc

I think yours is sensored mine isn’t. Lhs said the 3660 motors seem to run cooler, not sure I haven’t ran it yet but he’s pretty knowledgeable on everything rc. I 3s proofed mine so can’t wait

I took it out for a quick run in the backyard and it rips with the new motor. It’s got a lot torque. I have a 12 tooth pinion and might put the 13 back in it but I’ll run a couple of packs through it this weekend and test it out. So far I’m more the impressed with the power, seems to have good top end too but I ran out of room before I could really open it up.

After running a couple of packs this morning I can say this motor is a big improvement over the stock one. Even though it’s 4000kv it still has a little more topend then the stock one and the low end and torque is much better. About 5 minutes in to the third pack this happened. Other then that I would definitely recommend it for a replacement motor.

exotec servo horn requires you to file down your servo mounts? I thought it would be a good idea to make it fit out the box if you are making a specialized product. Oh well, I guess it will be no problem for most but I resorted to going back to the losi one. I did just upgrade my servo to sanwa ers-961

Only the senton gets hucked, this was on a track. Just came out of a turn and saw the back wheel pass me. Maybe I overtightened it

After just 3 packs I had two cracked stock wheels so i picked up some Team Associated KMC's that should be delivered soon. The only thing that held me back from those (proline) wheels were some saying the bead would not hold. Did you have any issue like that. Just curious for possible future purchase.

Nope, I never had an issue with the bead not holding through 3 sets of tires. Iv only ran pro line tires too, iv seen where some have had issues running the stock tires with them.My friend has only ran his on 3s and he’s had his longer the me with no issues. It was probably a fluke or I maybe over tightened the wheel.

Nice

thank you

well my rear wheel hexes are a little rounded i mean inside the rim. Recently I put vaquish nuts with the washer, tightened it up and ran it and the wheel fell off with the wheel nuts still on the axle, is the washer not compatible? because it ate off the plastic. So i guess i must look for a good wheel solution. I need some advice because now my only problem are my wheels...

is double sided tape going to be ok to mount the esc? Last run it seems to have broken both of the plastic mounting points on each side. Not sure of the alternatives maybe super glue. (no idea how the plastic mounts both snapped on each side)

spend the whole day disassembling the front end and putting the ssd front bulkhead. The diff wont fit in the new casing. One side goes in well the other side refuses and leaves it so it wont fully shut.

edit: the side that wont go in is way too tight a fit for the bearing I have tried heating but its not done much. I tested the opposite side and it fits the bearing really well seems like the other side is not identical.

Yep - it works well. Get some good 3M stuff. The ears on my ESC both broke off as well early on. It was a stupid crash that was completely my fault. I pulled the ESC and cleaned up, smoothed out the broken off edges and then secured it with 3M double stick tape. I've run it that way for over a year and no issues.
