Losi Baja Rey 1/10th 4WD RTR desert truck

No that’s the front out drives you are drilling out the drive shaft , connection between d/shaft and pinion which is a through hole , if you drill out and mess up the thread you need to replace the d/shaft no need for replacement outdrive , as long as you get a good tight hammer in and plenty of heat it should unscrew

Put the tip of your solder iron on the hex end, I guess you could heat up both sides but I just heated up the one side for about 3 min and with a fresh 2mm hex it should come out pretty easy. I learned the hard way on the first one but used the solder tip on the others, make sure you use blue loctite when you put them back in

Have not tried yet i but hope I get round to it, it will be fine for the mean time, as the bearings in the third member are still fine. Just a shame since I was changing all the bearings in the rear and the ones I couldn't change are the most problem ones.

Im wondering, If I drill it out will I just need this: https://www.amainhobbies.com/losi-baja-rey-center-outdrive-set-los232012/p501264 (Maybe this is the wrong parT? help out a newbie) or do i need to buy the full rear driveshaft

How long have you had your truck? I would call horizon and let them know what happened, they are awesome with replacing parts for free. Iv got driveshafts, wheels and tires, a new esc when all I needed was a fan and a few other parts for no charge.

That is the right part for the center outdrives, but you may also need a new driveshaft.

If you went a few pages back, I stripped the driveshaft screw as well but on the transmission side. So to remove I grabbed a Dremel thinking I could just notch the screw and take it out with a flat head screw driver. Unfortunately I couldn’t take the screw out until I had cut the entire outdrive in half.

Like yours, mine was brand new just taken out of the box when it happened

Cool. Glad you found them. I'm going to fab up a little bracket for some additional support on mine. Just have to figure out how I wanna go about it.

BTW - you did a Proline Raptor body correct? Did you have to hack it up pretty good to get it to fit properly, or was it a pretty direct cross? Hit me up with the part# if you can, there seems to be a couple versions of the Raptor body.

[emoji897]I’m interested in doing this as well. Any insight is much appreciated!

I've currently got the body removed and a new Proline 3478-00 2017 Raptor body getting ready to go on. From my preliminary mock up (no holes drilled yet) it looks like I'll be able to directly use about half of the body mounts. It might need some short standoffs/longer screws at the very front/hood, and some creative bracketry for the top/rearmost bedside mounts. The wheelbase is a tad short, but if you center up the rear wheel wells, you can just trim a tiny bit off the front of the front wheel wells and no one would notice. I can see that the body will have to come off anytime I'll want to remove the cage, but that has not been nearly as frequent since installing the SSD front bulkhead, so I'll live with it.

...did I mention that I'm painting it fluorescent pink?

It’s the axial yeti tt raptor body. It was pretty easy to fit. I can send you some pics if you want just let me know. I reinforced it with drywall tape and shoe goo but if I were to do it again I would use the rattle can bed liner also. There’s a couple areas that probably needed a second helping of tape.

The part number is PRO347800

Yeah it’s like any short course body and with the weight of the Baja rey it definitely needs some reinforcement

Just had a rear wheel come off is this normal? I looked the wheels hex bolt that it sits on is rounding off on a lot of the corners...
