Locked Up's SCX10 II Build

Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II

With the kit, you get 2 skid plate options.

One is drilled for the old transmission.
One for the new.

Compared to SCX10 original skid.
Only thing I see different is the 2 added captures.

thank goodness! first thing i planed to ditch was that transmission brick:mrgreen:
great thread! wheels look awesome, now to continue reading

Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Build- In progress now. Yes. Right now.

Battery box/CMS starting to come together....

Random servo added just to get through the build.

End of page 25.

Driver side frame assembled.

DO NOT forget to run your servo wire under the cover (bottom of page 25) if you are going to use it. Otherwise you will get to disassemble a few things.

Note:
When attaching the front cross member, my holes/nubs did not line up. My fix was to slice off the numbs.

I think you may have put the cross members on wrong way around. The extended one should go on the back.

Good catch!

Thanks.
Will correct that in a second.

Connecting the CMS, I noticed the drag link rod end angles max out before I want them to.
This is at rest:
IMG_4016.jpg

I started to connect to the servo arm and I realized the arm I had wanted to use (for scale appearance) was going to have the draglink and track bar out of alignment.
They are aligned in the pic but that screw is not tightened.... yes the 2mm matters to me.
IMG_4017.jpg

So I busted out a trusty Axial part from the stash.
The alignment looks dead on, but there is still a bit of pull on that draglink.

Rear end going in and got a surprise.

We had rotated the lock outs to hide the screws, but had to remove to put the lower end of shocks on. This is only because of how we mounted the lockouts.

We like to run around and stick our shafts in things...

End of page 29...

Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Build- In progress now. Yes. Right now.

The electronics box looks nice.

The screws that hold the top on are PLENTY long enough to really crank down on it.
IMG_4025.jpg

On the back side you have an additional silicone gasket for the servo leads. I'm guessing you'd want to slather the extra holes with liquid electrical tape or sealant of some sort if you are not using them all.

Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Build- In progress now. Yes. Right now.

Putting the bumpers on and that front is just begging for a Commando Winch System.

The holes lined up too....
IMG_4029.jpg

I did go ahead and drill 2 holes in the bottom of the bumper to make it easier to install the screws in the bottom.
IMG_4030.jpg

I do recommend slightly longer screws because the Axial bumper is thicker than the 3Racing plate/fairlead combo.

Yes. I got rid of the 3Racing fairlead because our Aluminum fairlead is just such a close match and looks great!
IMG_4031.jpg

I finished it all out with our Winch Saver, Scale Winch Hook and 250lb Yellow Winch Line.
IMG_4032.jpg

And finally the mounted shots of both the front and rear.

And THAT ..... is where we leave off for the night.

I don't like painting to begin with but tired+paint=trouble.

So do your rear shafts fit in these axles

Not yet.

Tangs are a little different ... but we like to fart around.

On my Bomber, there is a little plastic thingy, that looks like a servo wire cutout and fits right in to the unused slot in the silicone gasket. Maybe there is something like it in the kit too. easy to miss, cause it's really tiny part.

on the steering link an cms link I installed the angled rod ends, the straight rod ends wont work too good with out binding, just a hint

Didn't even think of that.
:lmao:

Eric did the first part of the build so when I got around to the links I just installed what he had built.

Will swap those tonight and get some shackles on there as well!

We got delayed when we realized I forgot the paint... but back on track now.

Eric got the body cleaned up and masks installed:
